Damaged roof how to repair

I’m building out a transit into a camper and while drilling some pilot holes buttoned out the drill bit and didn’t think before hand
Now I have damaged the roof where the bit pushed through and causing corrosion.
What’s the best way to fix this? Tap it down, mask off an area, little sand, primer, and get a rattle can paint match to the factory color and reapply?
Forgive the glare just cleaning and polishing and noticed my mistake now … almost a year later

Use a paint marker and live with the not so perfect results. Lightly tap down sand bare, apply a rust killer (not a spray rust converter) and use the pen to colour it and other other end to clear coat it. If you’re going to use spray paint it will be way more work for no reward unless you respray the entire panel

Curious about sanding to bare metal. Do I do it gradually around the area and fade into existing paint? Or mask off and go to bare metal in the spots?

Since it’s just the paint marker Sand a dime to quarter size spot depending how far the rust goes don’t worry too much about it the rest of the area that’s only applies if you decide to spray paint you’d want to suff the paint where the spray paint would overlap
