They messed up their logo too
Muted_Shape9303@reddit (OP)
Their 90s image
Fluffy_Muffins_415@reddit
It looks like a laser head on. Their current logo just gave up
Muted_Shape9303@reddit (OP)
What’s funny too is it was such a cool and creative image. LASER is an acronym for Executive Service Regional Airline (in Spanish). They chose the image because well… Linea Aerea de Servicio Ejecutivo Regional just so happened to read “LASER”. Sucks they killed it.
SummerInPhilly@reddit
Man between this (Línea Aérea de Servicio Ejecutivo Regional), VIASA (Venezolana Internacional de Aviación Sociedad Anónima) and AVENSA (Aerovías Venezolanas Sociedad Anonima) Venezuela sure loves their acronym airlines. Or, “loved”
Zlatan_Ibrahimovic@reddit
Nah they still do. There's Avior (Aviones de Oriente) and Rutaca (Rutas Aereas, CA) still hanging around in addition to Laser.
SummerInPhilly@reddit
Wait Aserca is Aero Servicios Carabobo C.A., and Conviasa (Consorcio Venezolano de Industrias Aeronáuticas y Servicios Aéreos) isn’t even VIASA with a “con”
Gotta hand it to them
SlowPokeInTexas@reddit
Definitely suggest that you not laser an airline. (I'll see myself out)
SuppliceVI@reddit
bring back unpainted aluminum dammit
Historical-Tour-2483@reddit
At least they added some detail on the tail?
WhiskeyTigerFoxtrot@reddit
Can anyone explain how this airline continues to exist despite the many economic woes in Venezuela for years?
tropicbrownthunder@reddit
Do them still have the metallic one?
SummerInPhilly@reddit
Why does it look like the space shuttle from this angle…
Raulch@reddit
Yes!
SnowConvertible@reddit
The why is simple to answer; it's far cheaper...
SummerInPhilly@reddit
And it’s also easier to repaint and resell/repurpose. Imagine having to scrape yellow paint if a fancy A321neo
Nearby-Medicine9484@reddit
White paint is also lighter, so additional savings there as well.
mrvarmint@reddit
During a recruiting event I was given a pretty in-depth tour of the 737 factory in Renton. One of the things they were talking about was how heavy paint is, and they noted that (and this was way before trump was a political figure) trump’s 757’s livery weighs something like 600 lbs more than a typical 757 livery which would mean doubling the weight… plus obviously having a black top makes it hotter than shit when the APU/engines are off…
SheepherderFront5724@reddit
I heard (at Airbus) 200kg extra for a black A320, so that seems consistent.
atn420@reddit
that tracks
kylleo@reddit
basebull, huh?
adhdt5676@reddit
I’m more shocked by the old 73’s in the background. Pretty crazy seeing the old engines and the non winglets
readonlyred@reddit
Rutaca Airlines 737-200adv. According to the internet they were retired in 2024.
tropicbrownthunder@reddit
We have actually the oldest 73 operating regular passenger flights in the world. (YV3471)
Unfortunately we have one of the eldest fleets.
The "newest" planes are from the flagship airline and are some Embraer from around 2013.
But like 80% of our fleet is MD82s
njsullyalex@reddit
I thought Nolinor in Canada had the oldest operating passenger 737? (C-GNLK)
xb9j@reddit
They only do charter flights
Zlatan_Ibrahimovic@reddit
3471's retired now actually. Got sold to Estelar last year and they're using it for parts. Estelar and Avior are the last two in the country to be flying the -200s.
2cimage@reddit
Remember flying on those versions in 1981…
VaughnSC@reddit
It’s Venezuela, I suppose their fleets haven’t had access to the latest and greatest jets.
csbsju_guyyy@reddit
Smoke those cigars if you got em!

Hot take, air canada's newer liveries suck
briyyz@reddit
This was the best AC livery.

Because dark paint heats up like a motherfucker during ground ops at 120F.

Man look at this , this is Peak
ConstableBlimeyChips@reddit
It's probably a trick of the light, but that tailplane looks like someone found it in a shed and super glued it onto the rest of the airframe.
reddituseronebillion@reddit
It's funny, but the company is work does "glue" a lot of structural components together
747ER@reddit
Some components of the aircraft (vertical stabiliser, tailcone, nose cone, wing-to-body fairing, etc.) aren’t made of metal, so they can’t be polished like this.
Nearby-Medicine9484@reddit
And why American had to move away from that iconic livery.
MondayNightRawr@reddit
I’m waiting for Blade and Blazer Airlines
Zlatan_Ibrahimovic@reddit
Laser has all of their jets with different liveries. You can literally see the first plane in the background (far right) of the second picture.
nomisman@reddit
Which one is the new livery?
osmiumblue66@reddit
So, BP bought an airline?
SkyscraperNC@reddit
xoccupation@reddit
I'll just say it. This was my favorite airline livery ever.
jdcav@reddit
Pew pew airlines
SpeedBlitzX@reddit
I was going to say the first pic looks fine. Then I saw the second pic
NeedleGunMonkey@reddit
Because no one buys airline tickets based on how it looks except a small subset certain kind of customer.
Deep-Purchase-2203@reddit
Also I’m pretty sure newer and up-to date liveries reassure customers.
tropicbrownthunder@reddit
we actually buy them because most of the time is the only line flying that day or sometimes even that destination.
bunhuelo@reddit
Neat, anti-flash white. How many nukes can this thing carry?
rob_s_458@reddit
Looks like a temp job that's going back to the lessor in a few weeks
mattyGOAT1996@reddit
Eurowhite ruins the vibes
mundotaku@reddit
I am surprised seeing Laser mentioned here.
tropicbrownthunder@reddit
so do I
juani20138@reddit
Tenían que cambiar pero no tiene originalidad
Kruse@reddit
What's the problem here?
Muted_Shape9303@reddit (OP)
(Scroll to the next image! See how they messed up)
killerrobot23@reddit
Neither is great. Honestly the newer one looks better.
