What's you goto brand of trainers?
Posted by Various_Extreme_8773@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 470 comments
Since being 16 I have always purchased Adidas as being brought up in Manchester they have always been my go-to.
Anyway my Mrs bought me a pair of new balance, I said I'm not wearing them, she replied your 54 now it doesn't really matter anymore.lol.
I tell you what they are great and extremely comfortable. I should of changed brands years ago.
It will be sketchers next. Hahaha.
Plannet_Depressed@reddit
It was whatever Sports Direct had in.. then in my 20s it's been Docs and Converse
Exemplar1968@reddit
Nike. I know I can pick a size 43 off the shelf in the shop and take them home without trying them on, they will fit.
YorkshireMary@reddit
Its gotta be Sketchers.
NaturalDisaster2582@reddit
From Manchester and it’s mostly Adidas but since when was that a Manchester thing?
Various_Extreme_8773@reddit (OP)
Like forever. Especially in North Manchester.
Don't forget until about 20 years ago we had a big divide. North and south Manchester.
yolo_snail@reddit
Skechers.
Won't buy anything else
jaju123@reddit
Meh, in my experience they fall apart insanely fast. But then again I only bought the cheapest ones.
I don't see anyone suggesting sketchers for proper running or sporting activities either which isnt a great sign
dbltax@reddit
FWIW even pricey ones have terrible soles. They wear out far too fast.
Bazahazano@reddit
They are not sports trainers?
Nice_Back_9977@reddit
They're good for just being on your feet all day, there's a reason they're insanely popular for nurses/carers.
twoheaddedbwoiii@reddit
And Harry Kane
Inner-Floor-5827@reddit
Can confirm. I'm a carer and sketchers are the way to go.
jaju123@reddit
I think thats the case for most foam filled trainers though, e.g. hoka Bondi and new balance 1080
Nice_Back_9977@reddit
Skechers are significantly cheaper than those
yolo_snail@reddit
It 100% depends on the ones you buy!
The cheap ones have a foam sole that lasts about 5 minutes, I made the mistake of getting those.
I currently have some Flex-Lites that I bought in January 2024 (on sale for about £35), I've worn them pretty much every day, and they're still going strong.
The only time I don't wear them is when I'm at work, where I wear my Skechers Safety Boots. They last me about 8 months before the soles lose enough of their grip (they would last longer if my joints weren't fucked and I could walk properly, they always wear out on the outside first)
I need shoes that are a wider fitting, and I've yet to find anything as good as Skechers.
Expensive-Estate-851@reddit
I bought two pairs from Costco thinking I'd save money when they fell apart a few months later. Bloody things still look pretty new so I wasted money on the second pair.
Nandor1262@reddit
I’ve had mine for 3 years as my main running shoe and they’ve not fallen apart in the slightest
sharpecads@reddit
They’re great golf shoes.
ChemicalLou@reddit
What is it about Sketchers? I always considered them like 10th tier US trainers that looked like ones your mum would bring back from the market. Why are they a thing now?
escapingfromelba@reddit
Like all trainers, it's marketing
TheLightStalker@reddit
Of all the footwear I find these the most egregious. 0% recycled content. Basic design leading to a $3 manufacturing cost yet still they charge way over the odds. One liner adverts with z list celebs.
Nice_Back_9977@reddit
They're really comfy though
KinnyWater@reddit
Ah well
yolo_snail@reddit
What the fuck are you cracking on about?
Reasonable-Soft375@reddit
Depends on what adidas your talking about. Gazelle for style, and Comfort Foam for softness… completely different kinds of trainers
Scared_Meringue_6053@reddit
New Balance are the best just avoid white trainers and you’ll be young forever
portablekettle@reddit
Whatever's on sale. I don't care for the fashion side of it or whatever. They just need to be comfortable and not look stupid
PARFT@reddit
wtf have Adidas to do with Manchester?
NaturalDisaster2582@reddit
Im from Manchester and mostly wear adidas but im confused as well
cursed_cucumbers@reddit
you're twisting my melon man
Various_Extreme_8773@reddit (OP)
Cultural
PARFT@reddit
everyone everywhere wears adidas.
twoheaddedbwoiii@reddit
Used to live in Nike Janoskis, last 8 or so years has been New Balance 574’s non stop
FineThought5017@reddit
Always preffered Addidas to Nike growing up. No idea why. Wore Addidas for years and years then started to realise I was having to buy bigger than my feet for the width. The stryle was a bit too pointy for me and not straight enough on the inside for my big toes. I'd catch the ends of my trainers on stuff occasionally .
Mentioned this to a mate who said try a 574 and I've not worn a different trainer for the last 11 years. They are exactly the same shape as my feet. Its a bit sad and middle aged but I bloody love them fit wise. I have a pair on almost all the time I'm awake.
They are not perfect. Every now and again I get a bit 'mid life crisis', go for a bit more colour, fuck up and end up with a pair that verge on stolen clowns shoes. I'd also say there isnt much grip to wear down so I have done a few impromptiou moon walks putting the bins out in the winter and have gone grass skiing a good few times. I also prefer the ones that subdue the 'N' a bit. They do seem to last though and I've had pairs I have literally worn until the sole has worn through.
trjk87@reddit
Hey as long as it’s not crocs you can still look in the mirror without shame 😝
forzafoggia85@reddit
Whatever is less than £40 has a wide fit and is comfortable, brand doesn't matter but for me personally 'skater' brands are more comfortable to me
Confudled_Contractor@reddit
Puma.
Size 12s always just always seem to comfortable.
AhoyWilliam@reddit
The trainers seem ok but I don't like Puma pants
Confudled_Contractor@reddit
Pants? Get outta here!
AhoyWilliam@reddit
Well I didn't want to Puma trousers as well
OscarsWhiskers@reddit
Miss my puma mostro’s from early 2000’s.
tiphphin@reddit
Puma have re-released Mostros -you can get them from their website
e31m70@reddit
Mostros have been rereleased.

Still available on the Puma uk website.

Rh-27@reddit
New balance or Adidas.
5thhorse-man@reddit
Adidas buiznitz pros in black with the tan base. I've had 4 pairs on the run now and nothing else fits my foot as well!
Xx4MUSxX@reddit
Asics
LagerLout01@reddit
Boss. I just like them nice and plain.
Embarrassed_Ad1722@reddit
Asics. Ever since I was running marathons in my 20s I've always liked those.
Burzo796@reddit
Asics are the only brand I use for running.
sharkkallis@reddit
Asics changed design a couple of years back. I ran for years in them but can't get along with them anymore. Now wear ON shoes and am very happy with them.
Sneakers? Sketchers only. Was an Airwalk fan for 20 years before that, but they went to shit when Mike Ashley bought them (as usual).
OldGodsAndNew@reddit
Their current racing shoes (Metaspeed Sky Tokyo) are the best in the business
Except maybe the new Adidas that Sawe ran sub 2 in, but they cost near £500
Strong_Access_8179@reddit
ASICS are the only brand I'll wear for running. I've tried a couple of others and they just never feel right.
Famous_Address3625@reddit
Always! So comfortable and supportive with plantar fasciitis flare ups too
Jasboh@reddit
Went back to Asics this year, bought some identical to my onitsuka tigers and they are so much more comfortable.
Various_Extreme_8773@reddit (OP)
Nice
H_C_@reddit
Adidas are a German brand made in the far East. New Balance are American and again made mainly in the far East. However they do manufacture trainers in Flimby, Cumbria. They aren't cheap but are very comfy with loads of small production runs in different colours, 574, 576 and 577 are my faves.
WarmJewel@reddit
Nike for no other reason other than I have an outlet store close to me.
Forward-Fan2680@reddit
Skechers!
Sc0ttiShDUdE@reddit
New balance fit my feet sooooo good
blushaudio@reddit
I’m back and forth between Adidas and New Balance
chrisxxviv@reddit
Nike Air Max 1's

Nike.
And whenever I go to the podiatrist (I’m diabetic so I get scheduled checks) they comment on how good my feet are.
SWTransGirl@reddit
I spend my days on my feet teaching first aid, so lots of kneeling and pacing.
Sketchers are honestly so damned comfortable. Do it!
EmptyStwo@reddit
Honestly, Skechers just absolutely fall apart for me - never had a pair last longer than six months, and even then, the soles and back wore through
adreddit298@reddit
Instructions unclear. Tells us to wear Skechers, advertises Nike...
SWTransGirl@reddit
I didn’t say the first part.
adreddit298@reddit
Ok. I mean, I was only joking around, not sure why you're feeling the need to be defensive...
ProofLegitimate9990@reddit
Light up sketchers
Street-Persimmon8492@reddit
Side note - how do you get a job like that? I'm advanced first aid trained and experienced and would like to look at careers teaching but I wouldn't know where to start looking
kirstinet@reddit
58 and now wear nowt but Sketchers.. even my slippers! And my feet thank me!)
catmadwoman@reddit
Only wear white skechers got three pairs. One sage pair for winter. One beige slip ons. Washing machine brings the right up.
Various_Extreme_8773@reddit (OP)

TheBeaverKing@reddit
You have to be a special kind of idiot to spend £250 on a pair of trainers that look like NHS orthopaedic shoes...
too_weird_to_live@reddit
I'd never heard of them, googled them after seeing this comment. Why is it so accurate?!
Fluffy-Astronomer604@reddit
Do they come with a free dildo?
audigex@reddit

ekitikitaka22@reddit
Same, got 4 pairs in different colours. They go with everything.
glasgowgeg@reddit
I used to get the Nike Tanjun (all black), it appears they've now been discontinued, in mens sizes at least.
I get the Adidas Kaptir 3.0 now, they're similar enough.
I do a lot of walking, and both of them are comfortable for that, and for standing for long periods of time at gigs.
Rembrandt72_@reddit
New Balance are great. Been wearing them since I was a teenager.
elmo_touches_me@reddit
I just wear old running shoes now for daily trainers. Once they're no good for running, there's still plenty of life left for daily walking.
Current pair is Brooks Ghost Max, and they're super comfortable. I ran 500km in them, then a year of daily wear, and besides a little tear in the upper, they're basically good as new.
Next up will be the Adidas Adizero SL2 that I've stopped running in.
Flapparachi@reddit
Interesting. My uncle does this, he lives in trainers. My running shoes go in the bin when I’m finished running in them. Usually the uppers are shot, and I live rurally so they are also manky beyond salvage.
To be fair, the shoes I run in aren’t shoes I’d wear day-to-day. I’m hardcore Adidas Superstar for fashion, and I don’t often wear trainers anyway (refer to previous point about living rurally. Boots for everything!)
elmo_touches_me@reddit
Fashion really isn't something I care about, so I don't mind rocking the jeans and bright orange running shoe combo.
There are some running shoes that will not be suitable for walking in, but most of the ones I run in will be decent walking shoes one day.
I just don't see the point in binning shoes that still do a job. Until they're falling apart, I'll make use of them.
Bakunin1876@reddit
I want to do the same, but they're absolutely filthy, any cleaning tips?
elmo_touches_me@reddit
Water, a little dish soap, an old cloth or kitchen sponge, an old toothbrush for any crevices.
They'll never end up looking brand new, but I get mine pretty clean this way.
Dadbodposterboy@reddit
reshoevn8r
Whithorsematt@reddit
Yup, Running->everyday->walking the dog->gardening->eaten by the dog is my current rotation.
GrimbleGrombles@reddit
I've had a few pairs of 574s. They are really good, although the soles were quite slippery when new.
ohdeydothodontdeytho@reddit
574's are my go to. Got 3 pairs in different colours/materials.
Classic trainer for an old bod like me.
GrimbleGrombles@reddit
The first pair I had was brilliant. Got a couple more a year or so later and the soles were absolutely lethal in the wet, I mean genuinely fell over a few times.
After over a year of wearing in they are fine and are super comfortable.
LittleBertha@reddit
440s are indestructible. But I have had other vans that been absolute shite, and fallen apart within a few months
IntraspeciesJug@reddit
Same. Always affordable, reliable and last a good while. A good quality shoe.
Ok-Pie-712@reddit
Yep and I think the quality is good. I’ve been wearing a pair of 327s near daily for over a year and they still look brand new and are incredibly comfy. Best trainers I’ve ever owned.
TheLightStalker@reddit
9060 are supposed to be super comfy.
clarerose85@reddit
I’ve got 3 pairs of 9060’s in different colours. I absolutely love them. The most comfortable trainers I’ve ever had in my 40 years of living. They are also really hard wearing. Well worth the £160.
asymmetricears@reddit
I do love a pair of Adidas Sambas, they need a little bit of time to wear in, but they last forever.
Free_Ad7415@reddit
NB shoes actually are cool / trendy, whatever you wanna call it. They’re also modern classics.
Skechers aren’t though, be careful
Wise_Industry3953@reddit
Lidl’s own brand because I have no money to spend on branded sneakers. They’re pretty decent at £9.99 (with a coupon, originally £12.99)
idfk-bro123@reddit
Nike, 100%. I've had my favourite pair for over 5 years. They get wiped down once or twice a year, and still look and feel new. When it comes to quality, I honestly can't knock them whatsoever
hidingbehindyoursofa@reddit
Skip Sketchers and go straight to Hoko. Thank me later!
Aaron123111@reddit
They are great but I thought they were super tight
hidingbehindyoursofa@reddit
I got the wide fit and they are great, they also do some extra wide. After that you are in flipper territory.
Aaron123111@reddit
Weirdly I have quite narrow feet and every other shoe I find has a gap on either side, but the hokas were tight
Apprehensive-Biker@reddit
Lonsdale if I wanna get beaten up
Jassida@reddit
Everyone at my primary school wore Adidas Kick. They were basically school uniform.
Around 90/91 things got crazy and there was Fila/BK/nike/reebok etc
My favourite ever trainers were black and brown kid leather air max around 91. Me and my two best mates had about three pairs in a row. It’s almost impossible to find a picture of them online but there is one at least
Frighteningly I remember Jordans hitting England around the same time and I’m sure they were just under/over £100 depending on the model. Nobody had them. They would have been taxed instantly
pb-86@reddit
Not seen them mentioned on here yet but I moved over to OnCloud a couple of years ago and they are by far the most comfortable footware I have ever used. Plus they're breathable, yet waterproof which is a great plus
nashant@reddit
Nothing but Inov8 ever since I found them. Their wide fit are prefect for duck feet like mine
Tall-Paul-UK@reddit
Hoka (One One) for running/ sports. DC for day to day.
Equal-Competition930@reddit
I am actually dyspraxic and cant tie shoelaces so after years of buying either trainers which someone has fasten them for me or me tucks them in my shoes or buying limited available adult trainers without laces. I decide to get children trainers with velco in my size which wasnt easy so arent branded they are lilo and stitch from primark and pokemon ones from next. I used embarrassed by not able to tie laces especially afer bullying in school but now think my life difficult enough without making harder so if need get kid trainers I will do even if dont actual like pokemon. But have created alot of interest .
Mediocre_Profile5576@reddit
Vans. Big chunky ones in the early 00s (when I was in my teens), Old Skool and Sk8 Low in the late 00s (in my 20s and 30s) and 10s, slip ons in the 20s (in my late 30s and early 40s)
Princes_Slayer@reddit
Saucony or Hoka. I have plantar fasciitis and find they are most comfortable
jg_ldn@reddit
Saucony Jazz FTW!
DCIGrannyGrumps@reddit
I've tried all types over the years but keep returning to Brooks. I have awful over pronation and they work a treat for me and I'm nearly 70. Tried the skechers and they were useless support wise and some pairs were so soft my heels squished into them too deeply and knocked me hip out. I can see the appeal for folk with good normal feet though for comfort but they aren't for me
Saucony would be my 2nd choice if I couldn't get Brooks
Adventurous-Dog-3786@reddit
Upvote for the Saucony !
The_Dimlord@reddit
Walsh. Made in the UK. No sweat shop sneaks for me.
Parking-Tip1685@reddit
Problem with Walsh is they only do small sizes. They recommend you go 1 size up as they come up small so the biggest Walsh size available is 11.
hibee_jibee@reddit
Never heard of the brand before, went to the website to check it out. It says made in China. Just had quick look tho, it may have uk prod as well.
The_Dimlord@reddit
Yes, you can select. https://normanwalsh.com/collections/made-in-uk

Used to have ascics for ages, go outdoors didn't decent ones for a decent sale price with the discount. Then both companies seemed to fail, prices went up, shoes become fashion over function. I now have under armour as the daily use, and Adidas as the runners.
Less_Win2234@reddit
Adidas. They were the brand for 'flick heads' in the day and I just kept with them. I have them in all colours and finishes. Only the Samba/Forres Hills type though. I don't like thick soles or heels.

Lacoste.
Civil_Classroom6399@reddit
Sketchers day to day (cheap and comfy) , Nike for running/gym

Aboutblu for my work boots, not super expensive at about £90 (of the top of my head) but comfy and last a while. Sevi are super comfy but for me just dont last at all
yesthenshaggers@reddit
Puma suedes.
When I was 18 with my first proper paycheck I saw some green ones I was obsessed with and bought them.

Now, years later they're still all I really wear, can usually get the black and white ones for about £25 a pair.
dinkidoo7693@reddit
Vans or Skechers for me.
AllOneWord99@reddit
Reebok Classics.
I'm 55 now, been wearing them since my late teens.
Leather in the winter, and nylon in the summer. Black, white, grey or a mix of the three.
I can see five pairs on the shoe rack at the moment.
chosen_seed88@reddit
I wore British knights throughout my teens in early 90’s, switched to Nike 180’s and max in my 20’s, adidas in my 30’s and Skechers for last 7 years
segundovolante7@reddit
Adidas as well usually.
Cheap enough, decent looking, and sometimes Adidas really do smash it out of the park for trainers tbh.
OldGodsAndNew@reddit
Both sub 2 hour guys at the London Marathon were in Adidas
I'm not on that level but I run a pretty fast marathon and in training average well over 100km per week, I tend to rotate between Adidas & Asics depending on which is cheaper at the time I need a new pair
Various_Extreme_8773@reddit (OP)
I bought the zx750 range for 20 years.

Almost always Nike. They're the only brand that are wide enough for my feet.

Odd_Fault4228@reddit
I was die hard nike air max with big bubbles from the release of the air max 95 until I started reselling in the early 2010's. I also loved at pair of shox that I had several years ago. Initially I reselled Jordans because I loved 6 infrareds but my family couldn't afford them, then I went on to yeezys and that's when I discovered ultraboost. I now have two pairs of jordan 6 infrareds, three pairs of ultraboost, one pair of adidas 4d and a pair of air max 95's that I had imported many years ago but are still in great condition. I have love for them all, but adidas boost knocks it out of the park for comfort so I'm more invested there
Pikmanpikman@reddit
Skechers fall apart on contact with a pair of socks 😅

dmb_80_@reddit
Usually Reebok Classics or Adidas Sambas.
Thisoneissfwihope@reddit
Saucony. Very comfy and quite ugly. I like an ugly trainer.
Vequihellin@reddit
I struggle with the position and size of the arch supports in Nike and Adidas, I used to wear Reebok when I was at school but I haven't owned a pair in years.
The last pair of gym trainers I bought were Asics and they were good enough for the odd gym session. I don't really wear trainers as a day to day item.
My day to day casual shoes are Superga, and if I'm doing any serious 'outdoorsy' stuff I'm wearing North Face hiking boots, Trespass or Mountain Warehouse walking trainers. Trespass walking shoes are lovely but the sizing has been weird lately. My North Face hiking boots are an MVP tbh but I have some Trespass snow boots that are like slippers.
Husband wears Mizuno in the Gym and Adidas or Nike trainers or Salomon or DLX hiking shoes casually.
stuaird1977@reddit

UltraFab@reddit
Puma normally but I have a pair of New Balance and they are very comfy
Firthy2002@reddit

I used to be heavily Nike loyal in my younger days.
Extreme_Question2814@reddit
Nike has a narrow toe box compared to some other brands
Try some shoes on and see what works for YOU. ASICS & New Balance usually have great support and are a little wider than Nikes.
Firthy2002@reddit
I've not actually owned a pair of Nikes for a while now but yes other brands with wider toe boxes have been better for me and is something that I look out for now.
Druid_at_heart@reddit
Sketchers, always the most comfortable and usually a fraction of the price of other trainers
GrimbleGrombles@reddit
The ones I used to have fell apart unbelievably quickly.
Druid_at_heart@reddit
Oh, which are you using? I have a pair of d'lites that im on year 2 of and a pair of summits that I think I'm on year 3 of, but I mainly wear them to and from work and light walking
GrimbleGrombles@reddit
I can't remember the model. They were a flat converse type of sketcher and the plastic inside the material completely fell apart. It actually ended up dropping little plastic pellets inside the shoe from a hole behind the heal!
I had to empty it out every couple days, genuinely ridiculous.
My wife bought a pair the same day. Heels that also completely fell apart within 6 months.
Maybe we just bought rubbish models of sketchers, but I've had far more luck with New Balance and Converses.
signpostlake@reddit
This is mine too. Always used to be Nike or Converse but I got a pair of these for walking the dog and haven't looked back. They're ridiculously comfy.

Im black low cut. The standard kind. My Mrs bought me some ox blood red ones and although I was skeptical, I took a liking to them pretty quickly.
heyitsed2@reddit
I've never got on with converse, not least because they're an effort to get on and off... Especially the off part when I get home and need to pee...
hibee_jibee@reddit
70s line is better quality, only slightly thicker. Chucks highs for me all the way. They last forever.
Mattehbby@reddit
Maybe that’s the ones I have atm, they felt slightly different and have survived 3 years with no damage so far!
hibee_jibee@reddit
I think it would say on the round patch somewhere. However, the regular ones are holding for ever also. Even worn to death they can be washed in a washing machine and will look good. I wouldn't be seen in Skechers, that's for old people and only in my 50s.

Axel Arigato. My first pair have held up about 5 years at this point and I've got no plans to stop wearing them any time soon. Added a couple pairs since; one (mainly) for the office & a chunkier one for a more relaxed vibe.
Fairly timeless designs, great material & build quality (in my experience), and depending on the model can be dressed up & down.

It depends on the situation.
For running I've been wearing Under Armour for a couple of years. I've just switched to Adidas Aidzero, though I haven't worn them yet. I'm a bit anxious about the change, but they had good reviews.
For casual/everyday I've been wearing Nike Air Jordans. Nothing to do with comfort and everything to do with being a Michael Jordan fan.

Boomshrooom@reddit
People really don't put enough effort into selecting footwear tbh. I personally prefer running trainers with a nice rocker to give me a good push off and plenty of cushion.
I love the design and feel of On shoes but the Cloud Tec soles are just too prone to squeaking. I'm trying out some ASICS Gel Nimbus 28s and they feel fantastic, if a bit tight around the top of the foot.
New balance as you mentioned are highly regarded as well, and Skechers are ok but I find their foam is often too soft for my liking and compacts too easily.

NB do some decent quality trainers that are made in UK or USA.
I mainly wear Walsh now, specifically the models that are still made in Bolton as the quality is up there.
adidas quality is mixed and some of the SPZL are also poorly made although I have a pair of Manchester and Moss Side that I picked up in store so I could check I wasn’t fobbed off with a substandard pair.

Maverick81_@reddit
Adidas, simply for the style factor, I don’t touch anything else.
asuka_rice@reddit
I’m an ASICS brand. The mainstream trainer brands only last less that 1yr on constant wearing.
BigJDizzleMaNizzles@reddit
Puma is my goto brand. Something about them, they just fit my feet well. I've had Adidas and Nike but keep coming back to Puma.
While I am a 40-something girl-dad I can't bring myself to venture to New Balance or shudder Sketchers.
ResponsibleBend2195@reddit
Hoka
ResponsibleBend2195@reddit
At 70
ODFoxtrotOscar@reddit
What for?
I’ve had pair after pair of Hokas (Challenger for all purpose, Mach for bouncy/fast road runs, Soeedgoat for trail
I’ve also had Mizuno Waveriders (excellent), Nike (ok) and ASICS (nice but wore much more quickly than I’d expected)
I’d did once succumb to a cheap pair of Sketchers from TKMaxx for just walking, and they lasted really well
Aaron123111@reddit
I tried hokas for the first time and they were incredibly comfy apart from them being so slim. I don’t have wide feet but these were so tight. However the bounce and lightweight were great.
Luckily I used that 60? Day do whatever you want to them and we will give you your money back
MainPurpose893@reddit
They do wide fit on their website 👍
Master-Trick2850@reddit
New balance are the cool trainers now, then current trend is functional fashion
not to mention you can get some pretty cool colours now
Simon_Says_2@reddit
I used to always buy Nike trainers but they seem ridiculously narrow now so not for my feet now after two kids. No one told me my feet would change size after the pregnancy!! I’m a bit of a trainer nomad now. Adidas mostly but still never found a good pair of gym trainers that really works for me
rossburton@reddit
I’ve quite wide feet and find Gola wider than most
tiorzol@reddit
I've always had ASICS for running and they've been fantastic.
Zool375@reddit
Yeezy
VolcanicBear@reddit
Vans for general use.
Hoka for running.
bonjajr@reddit
Vans OS
CALCIUM_CANNONS@reddit
Asda George.
Caminorun@reddit
ASICS, particularly the novablast and nimbus
philff1973@reddit
I have nimbus and cumulus, both good trainers, plenty of cushioning to help my knees after too many years of 5 a side football.
ThereIWasDigging@reddit
Ex ncb steel capped boots count as trainers right?
Cha_r_ley@reddit
For me it’s Skechers. Super comfy and they have a lot of range for those who like fun colours or styles.
ThinkIshatmyself@reddit
Sketchers, Nike or Reebok. I'm a big guy, and they're the ones I find most comfortable and supportive.
Djinjja-Ninja@reddit
Nike SB.
I haven't even owned a skateboard in 35 years, and even then I couldn't even ollie.
But I will wear SBs until I die.
KeepOnTrippinOn@reddit
I'm 48, ive about 20 pairs of new balance all made in england or USA, then about 15 pairs of adidas all city series or similar.
OrneryEA@reddit
I’m a similar age to you OP. was always Adidas and Nike until I got a gait analysis done and switched to ASICS Kayano or Brooks Adrenaline. I have Skechers for round the house and the kids rip the piss mercilessly. They do point out that my style used to be acceptable because my multicolour Dunks that I’ve never worn and beloved dragon embroidered split toe Nikes are worth a wedge now apparently. 🤷♀️
Royal_Damage5006@reddit
Puma trainers are super comfortable & look good
RoyofBungay@reddit
Hummel. The only trainer brand that fits my 12.5 plates every single time without fail. Plus they are less chavvy looking than more popular brands.
BroldenMass@reddit
I just buy whatever I like the look of and don’t subscribe to a brand. But then again I also have dodgy ankles and prescribed insoles, so the actual shoe support doesn’t matter all that much.
stoosh66@reddit
Always Puma.
Cloud_PES@reddit
Globe usually. Sometimes Etnies or Vans.
metal_maxine@reddit
Ecco. I have weak ankles and small, wide, difficult-to-fit feet. They're super suportive.
It's a shame they have shut down all their shops near me because I'm not keen on buying shoes online. I waste enough time trying on shoes in shops. It's an incredibly demoralising process - don't be a 2.5/3 E fit, it's not fun.
Salgado14@reddit
DC's always and forever
HugeElephantEars@reddit
Adidas because I like Korn.
ThrowawayParsnip5@reddit
Used to wear Tigers religiously, then moved to New Balance. Have tried other brands, Adidas, Gola, but nothing is as comfortable as New Balance for me.
Jack_202@reddit
Used to be Nike but now it's New Balance.
HiddenIdentity2@reddit
Always Lacoste’s. Not sure why. I’m 36 and been doing it since 16.
Running trainers I have tried a few ONs, Nike Addidas. Currently in Hokas
KinnyWater@reddit
Hoka
f_o_z@reddit
Now my feet are knackered I’m buying Hoka and On Cloud - had to retire my adidas sambas and gazelles :(
Defiant_Practice5260@reddit
Got into DCs at a fairly early age and never really looked back
MarcusH26051@reddit
New Balance. Just find them insanely comfortable for my dodgy feet.

Adidas Terrex for general wear, the odd pair of Converse too
CodeToManagement@reddit
I mostly wear Nike sb dunks or Jordans.
55caesar23@reddit
Adidas or Skechers
Won’t touch nike after they gave a shoe deal to a guy who took part in a dog fighting ring. Fuck michael vick
KnOcKdOfF@reddit
Adidas, although im loving on cloud at the mo too
YOF626@reddit
Adidas Gazelles.
rapsonwax@reddit
Sketchers, and I’m a lot younger than you.
JasonVoorhees3@reddit
Skechers. Any skechers. They mostly look awesome and you won't beat them for comfort
K0monazmuk@reddit
Last three pairs have been Saucony.
ashpotato16@reddit
I prefer Nike but I usually get Adidas as they're more affordable.
aaltendorff@reddit
Teslik. The number one shoe among Latvian athletes.
RealLongwayround@reddit
Brooks Adrenaline for road. Inov8 Trail Talon for off road. Gul for sailing.
Sideways_Underscore@reddit
Brilliant 🤣 Nike
ChartPimp@reddit
Emerica are generally my brand of choice
dereks63@reddit
I was Adidas for years, my first hi tops were Adidas, I lived in Sambas and then shelltoes. I'm 63 now, it's Skechers mainly, but I still have pair of canvas Adidas 🤣
BloodyCuts@reddit
At the minute it’s Hoka or New Balance, mainly because of an issue with my big toe and the comfort and width they offer.
KingKhram@reddit
As long as they suit me then that's all I care about. I'm not fussed about the brand
Glozboy@reddit
Karrimor walking shoes.
I'm size 14 so most trainers look ridiculous on me.
Time-For-Toast@reddit
Nike SB dunks.
ThrowawaySunnyLane@reddit
Puma
MichaelBealesBurner@reddit
Anything that I like really. Used to be more of a Nike guy, but in the 2020s feel like they really fell off.
Now I’ll buy anything, but can’t go wrong with some Adidas Gazelles, spezials and others of their originals line.
Emilyx33x@reddit
