I am so tired of getting these ‘Tell us your Experience’ emails for every little thing. No, I don’t want to tell you how my 10 minute Doctor visit was. How my stay at your hotel was. How my Customer Service phone call went. What an utter waste of my time. Is this a ‘Just leave me along’ GenX thing? What are you just done with in this day and age?
Global_Friend5300@reddit
In the 90’s, I got a lot of phone calls (landline) from people doing surveys. My opinion is mine and mine alone. No one else is entitled to it, especially if they’re going to use it to try to sell me something (shake me down for every penny they can extract). I would tell the caller I don’t answer surveys, and the dumb fucks would argue with me. Yeah, that really makes me want to give you what you want. 🙄
These days, it’s excessive spam calls to my cell phone, even though I registered my # on the do not call list. In fact, I swear the spam calls increased right after I registered.
Sad-Look-3687@reddit
About the only one I will do is Chick-Fil-A because they give me a free sandwich for my time.
The one that annoys me most is Sam’s with their “give us the scoop on your purchase”. Ok my Reese’s Cups were tasty. NO! That should be friggin’ obvious.

I usually respond “ Knee numbingly orgasmic”.
I usually don’t get a second one.

I traveled out of town over the weekend. Hit a local restaurant for dinner. I was tired and didn’t feel like eating at the restaurant so I just ordered online and picked it up myself. By the time I returned to my hotel, I had a text message asking me to rate my experience picking my food up.
1questions@reddit
Get those every time I return something to target or do an order pick up. Pretty dumb. Dentist also sent one out. I hate going to the dentist, not sure what to say.

One of my 'favorites' is getting a 'write a review' request on an Amazon purchase I just got that same day. What am I reviewing, the box it came in, I haven't even had a chance to open it yet!
wakattawakaranai@reddit
Or how about the begging for a review of the purchase I just made, but haven't recieved yet? Not only have I not received it, I haven't even gotten the site's auto-notif that a mailing label has been printed yet, so wtf am I reviewing already here.
skatoulaki@reddit
Not to mention..."dude, I bought a 6-pack of pen refills"...do I really need to review that?
kanakamaoli@reddit
Hate those things. I always criticize the policies in them-waiting 45 min for a 8am doctors appointment (how can you be running behind schedule when im your first patient of the day?) My experience was 'meh' until this survey wanted me to take 15 min of my day to evaluate parts of the service I haven't been able to experience yet. I also put false information in them to hopefully skew the database-im a 75 year old grandma with 25 children, $10k income and 5 ex-husbands.

What I find most annoying is the companies that need feedback don't actually give a f$&@
Ups here is the absolute worst-
IdyllwildGal@reddit
I do them occasionally. I travel quite a bit for work and if something is hosed on a flight I’ll fill out the survey, and more often than not United will throw some miles or flight credits at me.
Other than that I only do them occasionally. We recently had our house painted and we used a local outfit that did a fantastic job and for about half what a larger company quoted, and my husband gave them a good review before I got to it.
A few years ago I got a detached retina that took two surgeries to correct, and the ophthalmologist I went to caught it just in the nick of time. I came very close to losing the vision in that eye but thankfully I didn’t. The doctor is kind of a gruff, crusty, grumpy guy but he really knows his shit. They asked me to do an online review of the practice and I was happy to do it. A lot of the reviews were critical of his bedside manner (and to be fair, but once you get past it, you realize that he’s really just mostly very direct with zero sugarcoating of anything, which I put in my review.
Although it is off putting. He once told me to not blink while he was shining this super bright light in my eye, and said “If you don’t stop blinking it’s just going to take longer.” Well, you’re shining the sun directly into the back of my eye, I’m doing my best. He did a cataract procedure on me and had to mark my cornea with a pen, and said “Your eye is numb, there’s no reason to blink.” Dude, you’re poking me in the eye with a freaking Sharpie. How bout I jab it into your eye and we’ll see if you blink? 🤣
CaliJaneBeyotch@reddit
Lol - I'm so sick of phony friendliness that I kind of enjoy the grouchy ones at this point, assuming they are competent.
Awkward-Actuator-596@reddit
I prefer the doctors with no bedside manner skills- they always seem to get the job done. Over the last few years I was treated by some really nice doctors for an orthopedic injury that wasn't healing properly...they were so nice but I wasn't getting any medical help we talked disney kids ect . Eventually flew home to NYU and the doctor actually said WTF - you can't walk around like this
Chemical_Author7880@reddit
Yeah. My feeling is if I have a problem I don’t need a request for feedback. If you don’t hear from me, assume it was fine.
mariace65@reddit
And to make it worse: every store, tele support etc wants a rating and the poor workers beg for a 10,, because that's the only thing that corporate considers good enough. We don't want to do your job evaluating your employees !
mystery_biscotti@reddit
It's ITIL best practice. Think "continual improvement requires continual feedback."
In real practice, often if you don't give a five star review and say what so-and-so did well then someone might get let go in the next layoff.
You're not obligated to give feedback if you don't want to, though.
Full-Friendship-7581@reddit
I get them after stopping at the pharmacy! Seriously? I went got meds, left. 🙄 I just delete them
platypusandpibble@reddit
I’ve only answered a pharmacy survey once. The line to pick my completed prescription was over an hour!! I realize there’s a shortage of pharmacy techs and pharmacists, but it wouldn’t be near as bad if they actually paid decently. I left a scathing answer to the survey and reviews online. I also don’t go there any longer.
TollyVonTheDruth@reddit
From a consumer standpoint, those notices are definitely annoying and I ignore them too, unless they did something out-of-this-world fantastic or burn-the-place-down horrific.
However, I can understand that the reviews and ratings of the customers are what help bring more business or helps businesses get an idea of how to do better.
KimBrrr1975@reddit
So annoying. "You haven't even left the clinic yet and only saw the doctor for 4 minutes after waiting an hour, but please tell us what you thought!"

I once got a survey from a hotel I spent 1 night at while traveling. I gave the rankings and made a comment at the end about my not so great stay. Just a few things that needed improvement, nothing dramatic. The manager sent me a scathing email about how my issues were my own fault, and how dare I rank them so low, blah blah blah. I wrote right back and told him I was asked for my opinion, I gave it and I explained it. Opinions are subjective and the facts speak for themselves, and the fact was that I was given a discount when I checked out because of some of the problems they were having. I may have also told him, diplomatically, to suck it. This was a chain hotel, not the cheapest but definitely not high-end, in Redding California. I wish I could remember which one.
jaxbravesfan@reddit
I had the opposite experience with a hotel I stayed at in Charlotte while traveling. I never fill out the survey, but did this time, simply stating that I frequently stay at this chain while traveling (it’s one of the chains under the Marriott umbrella), and that the experience, while not bad, didn’t live up to the standards I was used to staying at that chain. The manager promptly called me, apologized and explained that the hotel was new to that chain, having previously been a different hotel, and were still training to bring the hotel up to standards people would expect from that particular chain. He actually thanked me for my feedback, and refunded the money I spent back to my credit card, which I didn’t even ask for. I was very impressed in how the manager handled it, have stayed there a couple of time since, and they have definitely raised their game since my first experience.
Blankbetty11@reddit
That’s how it should be. I’m glad someone gets it.
lukeskywalker008@reddit
Yeah, no. If they want my time they can compensate me. As others here have said, I don’t want to pay you to wear clothes with your logo and I’m not here to help you improve your business, which I am paying you for, without something in return. My time and my feedback are valuable, so treat them that way or get blocked.
Eisernes@reddit
Yeah I’m tired of that but at least it’s easily ignored. What I hate more is trying to make people create an account for every damn thing. I just want to buy a pair of shoes. I don’t feel like I need to be on some registry to do that. Just take my fucking money and complete the transaction.

That's fine, because I, in fact, DO want to tell you about my 10 minute doctor visit. Mostly, why do I have to drive an hour round-trip, to the other side of my metro area, to sit in a room and have a doctor say:
Couldn't that just have been a Zoom call?
Disastrous-Group3390@reddit

This one, right here. No, I don't want to download your app. I don't want to spend 15 minutes downloading and setting it up so I can get 'rewards' at your coffee shop/store/whatever. It wastes my time, clutters my phone, and I have things to do. If it's not a physical punch card, get stuffed and leave me alone. Man yells at cloud.. lol.. Honestly, it's ridiculous how "smart" everything has to be now. I don't want to buy a toaster if it requires an app. I don't want to have to remind my fridge to make ice over Wi-Fi. It just doesn't need to be this complicated.
wrldwdeu4ria@reddit
They're trying to set us up to pay subscriptions for add-ons on every appliance in the future. They'll use all the active login people create to justify building out the applications to do this. Looking at you, Adobe.

toboldlygo7777@reddit
Yeah, that's the plan. Everything you own will eventually be subscription based. I'm personally, actively trying to not participate. Smart fridge? No thanks, I'll take a dumb one, so you can't make it brick at the touch of a button.

For the record, you asked:

- confusing your/you're - ain't hard folks.
- "would of" ≠ "would've" It's "I would've (would HAVE) attended except I slept through my alarm."
- Literally and Actually - jumping jeebus on a flaming pogo stick.... I want to run screaming into the street.
I actually could literally actually go on, but I'm actually literally actually weeping into my actual desk literally right now, actually.

I got call after call from the salesman I bought my car from, saying that he needed to go through the survey from corporate with me "because it can be tricky". TheJokersChild@reddit
All 9s, because anything less than 10 is a failure and then corporate has to come out and reprimand the managers in person.
DBC1974@reddit
So here are some even worse things to know about these surveys, from someone who was a retail manager for many many years.
Back in the day, a lot of places used “mystery shoppers” - these were people hired to be pretend customers who would go into stores, restaurants, businesses, etc. and then report back to the company - did the employee behave professionally and friendly? Greet the customer, offer to help them find what they were looking for, perform any of the company-specific metrics like offer the rewards card, etc. etc. etc.
The problem is, these mystery shoppers actually had to be PAID.
But of course good old late-stage capitalism and cost-cutting entered the picture. “How can we get customer feedback while spending a lot less money?” Hence, the email feedback surveys.
But it got worse.
You, as a customer, might go to a store, make your purchase, get one of those email surveys afterwards, and you actually fill it out. “On a scale of 1 to 10, how was your store shopping experience?” Your experience was fine. You found what you needed. The cashier who rang you through was pleasant enough. Nothing bad happened. It just wasn’t the ultimate happy experience in your life, so you think, “7 seems reasonable”, and rank them 7 in that survey.
And that cashier then gets a write-up or reprimand from their manager. Because the way many companies now interpret these surveys, 10 is the only acceptable answer. Anything 9 or below = failure.

alinroc@reddit
20-odd years ago, when Dodge dealers had the "five star" program, I had a service manager tell me that it was really important that I give them all 5s on the survey Dodge was going to send me about the service I had done on my truck. And that if I felt that I couldn't do that, I needed to call him and he'd figure out how to make things right.
My dude, if we've gotten to the point of you handing my keys back to me and I'm not happy with the service, we're well past the point of you being able to convince me to bump that number up to perfection.
copperfrog42@reddit

Affectionate-Map2583@reddit
I wouldn't actually mind if all they wanted was for me to click the appropriate number of stars or a number from 1-10. Occasionally, I'll do that, and it then wants me to write a whole review, so I just close the window.

Ok_Ad8249@reddit
I had a very bad experience at a hotel recently and left a scathing review about it's access for people with disabilities (I have a disability that requires a cane to walk and struggle with stairs) and mobility issues. I did point out several positive aspects but said it should be avoided by anyone with mobility issues or disabilities, citing the very specific issues.
The owner responded essentially blaming me for my issues and hoped they could accommodate me the next time.
I also was asked for a review on Trip Advisor which I gave a similar review but brought up even more detail to get ahead of the response. Once again the owner found a way to blame me but would accommodate me better next time.
Since I just happened to travel on business the following week, the first time in 10 years, I'm now being bombarded by Trip Advisor for more reviews to get points as a "frequent traveler".

I have become a bit of an "angry survey lady". If they "want to hear from me" boy will they. I say things like: Do you pay every single one of your employees a living wage? Do you offer fair benefits and promote remote work, where possible? And I will throw in a line about any corruption or outrageous CEO bonuses if they have been in the news lately. Then I rave about how amazing the customer service was - because I will never, ever say that a super low paid worker did a shitty job. I realize this will likely not change anything, but it makes me feel better.

Since the advent of this business practice, has ANYTHING gotten better because of it?
I think not.

I will take the time and do those surveys if my experience was exceptionally bad. I never hear back from them though.
Typical_Plankton_274@reddit
Same. Delete and ignore.

Any phone call or customer service interaction that requests a survey.

I get these emails from people that I never gave my email address to. I had a garage door opener replaced, paid the guy and got a receipt. The next thing I know I’m getting emails to rate the company on google. WTF 😳
Cranks_No_Start@reddit
I fill them out depending on what it is and if I feel I want to say something.

Not to mention that if you say anything other than everything was perfect, you could get hounded/retaliated at that business from now on. Things significant enough to violate the law or professional standards have other more appropriate, and confidential, outlets to report, anyway.

It's crazy. I finished PT months ago.and they are still stalking me and no way to opt out.
Sunshine2625@reddit (OP)
Omg. I had OT for some wrist issue last Summer and I got one after each weekly visit. I ignored them and at the end got six on one day because I didn’t respond to any of the six emails prior .
aburena2@reddit
Yeah. I pretty much ignore them.
SocialSyphilis@reddit
All those surveys do is give them information on how they can squeeze more money from us. I never do them
syzygialchaos@reddit
The last two surveys I was sent I had genuine issues with the thing they were asking about, so that was mildly cathartic.
Lostboyintheforest@reddit
I agree. And I'm done with the damned spam calls every day
