5th gen 2 seaters just look better, this, the J-20 and the KF-21!
SuppliceVI@reddit
Ironically it's also a tell to the capability (or lack thereof) of the avionics suite in the plane. Lack of integration of equipment means they sacrifice weight to make up for it
fourunderthebridge@reddit
Or...added capabilities.
Everybody who pays attention even a little bit to fighter jet development knows these two seaters are meant to be the drone-controller variants.
Come on now lmao
Appropriate_Lynx4119@reddit
Can’t wait to see this sitting on the tarmac through the viewfinder of a Ukrainian drone!
C4-621-Raven@reddit
This looks like they just grafted an Su-27UB cockpit into an Su-57
DramaHumble2692@reddit
Knowing sukhoi this is probably what they did.
dramachasingbunny@reddit
You know sukhoi?
DramaHumble2692@reddit
Yes, he's my wife's boyfriend.
torquesteer@reddit
I wonder if that huge bubble makes it any less stealthy.
Adjutant_Reflex_@reddit
Mitigating radar returns from the cockpit is a very real issue, it’s why you see the coatings on the F-22 and F-35 canopies to help reduce said return.
There’s no way this doesn’t negatively impact the Su-57’s RCS.
bigcitydreaming@reddit
No reasonable person has been legitimately calling the Felon as comparable to the F-22 or F-35 anyway, only bots. Sincere discourse only has it favourably compared against other Russian airframes
P3ktus@reddit
Implying that it was stealth in the single seater, which is not
Jazzlike_Climate4189@reddit
Compared to something like a MiG-29 it is stealthy. Compared to an F-22 absolutely not.
Sevastous-of-Caria@reddit
Depends on the normalisation angle of the curve perpendicularly reflecting the waveband. There is a reason why this cockpit has an angle like this and some elevation.
No-Brilliant9659@reddit
Makes it look like a yak 130
AbrocomaSpirited5797@reddit
It looks like a miniature model.
Belfastscum@reddit
Looks like a trainer jet lol
The_Bard@reddit
Well on one hand Russian troops are undersupplied and using ancient soviet equipment on the front lines. The Russian economy is in free fall and government budget deficits are skyrocketing. On the other hand we are supposed to believe that Russian air force is building new models of advanced aircraft. I dont think these things add up.
Specialist_Box_8482@reddit
I’d also bet this is a 1 of 1 model so far, they probably don’t have the funds to mass produce these. They can’t even do it with the stock SU-57.
V8-Turbo-Hybrid@reddit
They need to make lies for their people if they need to continue the war...
Agree that, Russia still doesn't want to use their Su-57 and Armata models because they don't make it many and can't afford to keep it.
SuperFriendlyAv8or@reddit
What is this...a plane for ants?!
baddie_PRO@reddit
but why miniature models?
TheodoreK2@reddit
Can you imagine how much glue you’d need for a full size?
Dargon34@reddit
I...just told you
NoPipe1536@reddit
Must be photoshop. Fighterbomber isn't primary source, he is long retired alcoholic ex-navigator, now mostly watch blogger :)
Coyote-Foxtrot@reddit
Is that image really reliable when it is typically accompanied by images like this?
NoPipe1536@reddit
Wdym reliable? It's artists imagination and it look better than PS in first post. Rear canopy frame looks suspicious and artefacts on the rudder look AI. Artefacts consist of "Cy" (Su in Russian) logo and master-slave logo where silhouettes of Su-57 and C-70 (heavy UAV) are flying together which is present on one of latest Su-57. AI couldn't comprehend what it is but still decided to combine them.

Gonna be a bit hard to build more of these with the factory burning down and all that

Did the factory get hit? Those cagey Ukraineians
Jazzlike_Climate4189@reddit
No it was reported as a factory fire, not a military attack.
Tsundare_Mai@reddit
Is this like an advertisement for India cuz they were more interested in double seated Su 57s
ComplexTour5215@reddit
pretty sure yes
V8-Turbo-Hybrid@reddit
I don't get it why Russia and China wanting to built their own 2-seat 5th gen. Is this decision for drone control ? And, I don't get why it with "D" name and not "B" name.
CombatPilot2@reddit
Beautiful even like this, glad they didn't ruin T-50-4. Single seater is still sexier though
warm_winds_whisper_@reddit
I have a soft spot for the original SU-57 despite it kinda sucking but man this is pretty ugly.

XvX_Joe_XvX@reddit
sick paintjob, I don't think we've seen this one with the tendrils up near the cockpit before
Lapkonium@reddit (OP)
On a personal note - I don't think this plane was originally built with a 2 seater vewrsion in mind.
jeb_hoge@reddit
It's interesting that they just gave it the same two-seat setup that the Su-27 has. If anything, I'm a little skeptical that it's real and not just a photo edit grafting the Flanker crew space onto the Felon.
useronlyone@reddit
Plenty of news sources talking about its release tho
