CFIs and others out there, how many hours are you getting per month?

For those in a time-building position such as CFI, banner towing, survey, jump pilots, etc. How many hours are you getting per month on average and has it decreased or increased as of late?
A general idea of where you are located might also be helpful.
Thank You!
BLACKBIRD505@reddit
I averaged 100 hours per month, with my highest month reaching 148 hours while I was in Arizona.

What school was this? Asking for a friend
SoloCFI@reddit
Basically airborne for a week straight.
gigadatum@reddit (OP)
Thats insane hours
LikenSlayer@reddit
Turn & burn!! You fly more than me...lol
xtrapickles71@reddit
Close to zero. Job market is saturated beyond belief
SoloCFI@reddit
Have you tried independent in the meantime?
Direct-Leg-532@reddit
I want to give it a try, mind if I sent you a DM?
SoloCFI@reddit
Please do.
Competitive-Turn3266@reddit
SoCal doing 80+ a month! Weather is important factor but student load is key
BringGameWinGame@reddit
Are you in Orange County? I’m looking to do a discovery flight.
Competitive-Turn3266@reddit

RecheckFeePlease@reddit
Heard nothing but positive things about Aces High if so
PropWashPapi@reddit
SC here, 80-120hrs average
Fight_Or_Flight_FL@reddit
Part-time CFI, 40-60 hours per month. Central FL.
InJailForCrimes@reddit
Northeast US. This year has been roooough. Lucky to hit +20 so far.
commies_get_out@reddit
Damn I’m hitting 40-70 a month in NJ
Mossieoak@reddit
You at infinity? That place stays busy as hell
commies_get_out@reddit
Yeah lol
waveslikemoses@reddit
I’m gonna assume that’s a weather thing?
InJailForCrimes@reddit
Partially. But even on nice days we're seeing stretches of open schedule. Lost a lot of momentum through the harsh winter so people aren't coming out like they were in previous years.
Mossieoak@reddit
I did PPL-CMEL in NJ and can confirm late Dec-March you’re lucky to fly once a week as a student. And I mean that’s lucky.
waveslikemoses@reddit
Ah ok I understand. I’m almost done with my Cpl, and I desperately hope to find something that isn’t a CFI job because the market is such a mess.

70 per month, Part 135 FO
Ok_Pair7351@reddit
Independent CFI, 50-60 hrs/month for the last 3 months. I'd say 70% of that is dual given.
SoloCFI@reddit
That's badass on the solo gig. Good for you. Would you mind a DM?
Ok_Pair7351@reddit
Not at all, feel free to DM
Brendon7358@reddit
New CFI, been working about a month. 40 hours, New England
SoloCFI@reddit
Oh, nice! Is that solo or for a school?
gigadatum@reddit (OP)
Congrats on the CFI and job!
OsrsGrin@reddit
Only doing about 35 hours a month average last 12 months. Starting to pick up in the last month, currently at 40. 2 students and mostly BFR/IPC. Central California
Strigon21@reddit
Pennsylvania, usually 20-30 depending on the month. My best was 45
charlespigsley@reddit
Really grateful for the CFI/II gig I have at a flight school in the Midwest. Just barely got over 100hr in the last 30 days recently, and making $25/hr. Been with the school since September/October of last year and wasn’t able to hold any sort of a schedule until March/april of this year (had to work a second job - actually, being a cfi was my second job until then)
EezyBake@reddit
South east, Florida. Get about 80 as a CFI. Have 615 hours. Currently looking for cadet programs and other ops for when I have a few hundred more hours
Sea-Marionberry4948@reddit
65-80 per month in the Midwest
hhjijnnm@reddit
When I was a CFI last year I flew 110 hours month for 15 months straight
Flat-Row7968@reddit
Bro what kind of weather dance did you do for this
hhjijnnm@reddit
I was very confident in my limitations and born and raised in Miami so I know the ebb and flow of SFL storms. Also I was just a popular instructor
Flat-Row7968@reddit
I’m in New York so our ebb and flow is LIFR for three days to clear skies gusting 40. Maybe if it’s feeling cute it gives a nice day once a week (we will be #20 on final)
hhjijnnm@reddit
Damn nah that would not be something I was comfortable with. Also worked out a pretty efficient class delta. We have pretty solid flying weather year round
Flat-Row7968@reddit
I gotta give my class delta props they are extremely efficient but there’s just too many damn planes🤣
1886cola@reddit
No less than 80 no more than 130 per month. Could do 8 hours everyday if I wanted but that would destroy me.
CFI in the Carolinas
deepsqueeker44@reddit
DFW and I’m doing \~80hrs per month
Fast-Government-4366@reddit
I know my cfi did 100 hours last month.
Mossieoak@reddit
Piggyback question: How many total hours are you guys getting a month? Meaning ground+flight hours
KintaroGold@reddit
Past few months I’ve been doing about 20-25 total per week, and at MOST like 10 of that has been flight hours. Last week I worked really hard to get hours and I got 32 ground+flight, with about 20 flight hours.
VirvekRBX@reddit
Winter 20-40, Sumer 60-80. I’m in Michigan. This winter was brutal
WorldlinessEnough808@reddit
I was working at a small school for 15 hours a month. But I was just hired at another school and I’m projected to get around 60 this month, Midwest.
gigadatum@reddit (OP)
Nice upgrade!
jimbowie10@reddit
45-55. Spotty students and weather
YourSpanishMomTaco@reddit
A few months ago, maybe 20-40hrs. Starting to pick up, already hit 40 with these past two weeks.
Vegetable_Piece2054@reddit
Average is 65ish. Probably could do more but Im picky with my flights. I only fly when I know it will be beneficial for my student. There's instructors at my school who fly students for the hours.
