Israeli defense firm says large fireball explosion near Beit Shemesh was part of ‘pre-planned experiment that went according to plan’

Not mentioned in this article: just outside Beit Shemesh, there is an Israeli Air Force base which is widely known to contain nuclear ICBM silos.
So deciding not to warn residents that you're going to set of a really big explosion in the middle of the night seems like an odd choice, to say the least.
Exostrike@reddit
They explicitly name Tower who presumably makes the motors for said missiles, but the weird thing is Israel's missiles use solid fuels, so this can't have been an accident while fuelling up a test rocket. If it was an accident (and not sabotage), whatever went wrong, went spectacular wrong.
Its possible a solid rocket fuel factory working overtime to refill interceptor stockpiles may have just exploded.

Often you want to “Test” the limits of your rocket by running it till it explodes. This can result and usually does result in a large loud explosion. But after you can put a red line in the control room so it doesn’t happen again, hopefully. 🤞
Exostrike@reddit
And we're going to do it in the middle of the night when the overtime for the technicians is going to cost us a fortune. Doesn't pass the smell test.
DayThen6150@reddit
Part of the test is exterior conditions dependent. Could have been a window for an exact pressure range.
IlluminatedPickle@reddit
If you need to test based on pressure then you fucking put it in a chamber and dial it in. You don't wait until atmospheric conditions are kind of correct...
JAEMzW0LF@reddit
yes, but not randomly in the middle the night when you are close enough to where a bunch of people live, that you have said nothing to.
SpontaneousFlame@reddit
The company I work for does all its testing in the middle of the night… oh, wait, no it doesn’t. That’s would be absurd.
It’s obviously not testing because Israel does its weapons testing on Palestinian civilians, and there have been no reports of mass deaths of Palestinians, so it’s unlikely it was a test.
GerryAdamsSon@reddit
No one thought to tell the locals in advance that a massive huge explosion might occur? To avoid people being terrified and chaos that might ensue when a random giant explosion goes off?
DocBigBrozer@reddit
All according to plan. Who's plan you might ask? Well, I don't know
Magjee@reddit
The Iron Dome either intercepts or doesn't intercept
So they already accounted for every possibility

ya they aren't even trying with the lies, all the video of people panicking and running away from the site, totally what happens in a government controlled demolition or w.e the fck "experiment" means.
reddit_is_geh@reddit
Do you think the Arabs they plan on bombing with it will get advanced notice? This is just a test, not an experiment.
norcalginger@reddit
My "pre-planned explosion that went according to plan" statement sure has people asking a lot of questions already answered by my statement

your post sounds like something a bot would post

Kicking a rocket can hurt more than just your toe.
HockeyHocki@reddit
Its a testing ground, they are probably testing shit all time. Seems unlikely the plan was for a rocket engine to explode but like....thats precisely what testing grounds are for
bradicality@reddit
Are you calling the israelis liars
HockeyHocki@reddit
No? when testing naturally your goal is a successful outcome but you plan for all eventualities, success or failure.
Crouteauxpommes@reddit
-Don't worry guys, it's all according to the plan!
-Can you remind us what was the plan?
-Of course! [Materialize a comically large paperboard out of thin air*]
The Plan : "We wage war. They might fight back. [???]. Profits."
-Here you go, all according to plan.
jenny_905@reddit
So pre-planned that worldnews don't seem aware of it.
Can't even find it on the BBC which is odd for such a giant explosion, must be because it was so pre-planned and normal.
Kaymish_@reddit
Yeah sure guys. If that sort of thing was planned it would have been announced beforehand, and wouldn't be news worthy. I'm not sure wether this was so embarrassing that they have to lie about it to keep public confidence from eroding or if Israelis are just so used to lying through their teeth that they're lying reflexively.
Muad_Dib_of_Arrakis@reddit
¿Porque no los dos?
Rushing_Russian@reddit
Some Russian levels of "it was totally fine guys we planned it" going on here
Aggressive-Map-2204@reddit
Yes it was a preplanned experiment. Its just that Israel was not the one who planned or conducted it. Its not like the place just randomly exploded or anything.
