I love how you can see lines that show up later in the Lamborghini Jalpa. Not my favorite Bertone design (that would be the Bravo), but it's very, very cool.
Small claim to fame - Ive sat in that car. It was at the NEC Motor Show 1978. As a 13 year old kid I turned on the "Gee wiz mister what's it like to sit in?" charm.
All I can remember is that you are literally sitting on the floor with just a thin seat pad beneath you. And the windscreen blended into the bodywork. That was cool.
It aged well by modern design standards but it a glorious nod to the wild designs of the 70s. Do I like it as a design, not really. But I absolutely love it as a historic concept car.
The Lancia Bertone Sibilo is very special. Unveiled at the 1978 Turin Motor Show, this radical concept designed by Marcello Gandini was based on the legendary Lancia Stratos and pushed the wedge design language to the extreme.
2.4L Dino V6
190 hp
Stratos-based concept
The bodywork was designed as a single smooth volume, with polycarbonate windows blended directly into the paint to create a seamless shape. Even the steering wheel was molded from the designer’s hand to match the natural driving position, while the dashboard already featured digital displays in 1978. Inspired by the sound of air cutting through speed, “Sibilo” means “hissing”.
The car remained in Bertone’s collection for over 30 years before being acquired by legendary collector Corrado Lopresto. Fully made in Italy.
Interesting solution to the problem of rolling down windows on a supercar. The real test would be rolling through the McDonald’s drive thru to see if it works :)

Things I hate about it...
1: Poop color paint.
2: Poop paint on windshield.
schizeckinosy@reddit
The rear window is the only thing that’s actually transparent
VincentNacon@reddit
Yes. I actually like that part.
All windows should be that transparent.
Mhmm... yes.
MichaelAuBelanger@reddit
Brown really had a choke hold.
Feefifiddlyeyeoh@reddit
Seeing the road is so overrated
SFLGabe954@reddit
I thought it was made out of chocolate
JP147@reddit
They tried too hard to make it look modern but forgot to make it look good, it has not aged well.
Also the overspray on the windows reminds me of the time my friend spray painted his own car when we were in high school.

Is it brown tint on the windows or just a ton of overspray? Or both?

Yes.

It reminds me of those little novelty calculators that look like a chocolate bar.

I, too, thought it was a chocolate car at first
One-Earth9294@reddit
How are you supposed to hold the steering wheel?
KittySharkWithAHat@reddit
I saw a comment recently about how the 70s are being depicted in film and someone said they're definitely missing how BROWN everything was.
One-Earth9294@reddit
Everything in the 70s was Reeses Pieces colored. I know because I grew up poor in the 80s and everything we had was just leftover from the 70s.
hapnstat@reddit
Had a shit brown 77' Nova and a shit brown 70s stove. Checks out.

That looks like if you parked it in the sun you're going to come back to a puddle of chocolate
Specialist-Neck-7810@reddit
I absolutely did NOT expect that car to sound the way it did.
mulligrubs@reddit
So not a car made out of chocolate. Probably for the best.
NotSoSasquatchy@reddit
I thought it was one of those cars made out of chocolate

If I became like a fuck money rich today, I would ask some car builders to make me a replica of this car with electric Powertrain.

I'd get one with a Ferrari V-12 🤷

How could someone be so careless as to scratch that car so much.
Brown isn't a good colour. Electric blue is better.
JP147@reddit
I think that is where the sealant is on the edges of the window, it might have degraded over time and disturbed the paint.

I think it's great. Wonderfully preserved.

The car in the background is the Stola S81 Stratos, though I'm not sure if its functional or just a mockup
