CS source still has servers, still slaps, no gay shit.
Pepa1337@reddit
Death of community servers needs to be studied, no one plays casually anymore even in other games
itchylol742@reddit
fake news. source: i play on community servers in tf2 all the time. my favourite is the 100 player shounic trenches
Serenaded@reddit
>join a community server
>download the maps on loading screen for 15 minutes
>finally join
>get kicked instantly
AutoModerator@reddit
Ok? I still have day dreams about working at Orcon.
I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please contact the moderators of this subreddit if you have any questions or concerns.
T00M4S@reddit
yeah because community servers are literally hidden from regular players from the main menu unlike 1.6 where its all you had
RollingTrollingG@reddit
Didn't paying for ranked matches start in CS:GO?
Independent_Ocelot29@reddit
Well CS was always a paid game. Halfway through GO's life they introduced Prime status which was free but required a verified phone number, to combat smurfs and hackers on alt accounts. Then when the game went free to play they made Prime a paid feature.
Swiper_The_Sniper@reddit
Prime used to be free for \~1 year after the Danger Zone update dropped. You had to reach xp level 21 to get it permanently. Thats how a lot of my friends and I have prime to this day.
1stMembrOfTheDKCrew@reddit
Counter strike "fall off"
most popular game on steam
literally fking free
one of the only modern multiplayer games you can call other people slurs without getting in trouble
can still play old counterstrike
xxxvalenxxx@reddit
I would have added rust to that list of only games you can get away with saying anything in voice chat. But turns out they're working on implementing permanently recording every time anyone talks in game.
A truly dystopian world we're beginning to live in.
konoxians@reddit
So you're okay with slurs? Why are you against banning players that spread hatred? I would expect every action I make in multiplayer game to be recorded..
Clicky27@reddit
They should add more slurs. Gaming is too soft. There's always Animal Crossing for people who might get offended by words
Trillbo_Swaggins@reddit
I’d rather the problem run its course. People that use slurs get reported by other players or told to knock it off. I don’t need Valve recording everything to play internet police over feels.
xxxvalenxxx@reddit
I grew up with the mantra of "sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me".
To me gaming will always be a "safe space" for guys to just use locker room talk and shoot the shit with each other.
Although I never use the typical slurs you may be thinking of, I want to live in a world where anyone can say anything they want without risk of punishment, outside of the offended deciding to not interact with them.
bakugo@reddit
90% of the player numbers on steam are bots farming drops, in terms of real players the game is pretty dead. Some regions struggle to fill a single casual server.
1stMembrOfTheDKCrew@reddit
If 90% of players are bots, this still puts it in top 10 most popular games on steam.
And if you think a game anywhere near either of those numbers is dead, youre &^*arded
bakugo@reddit
Dude I'm speaking from personal experience. There are some server regions in europe where, if you queue for casual, you will be placed on the same server over and over because there's only ever one or two populated servers. You can argue that most people are probably playing compslop, but that's still not a good look for the state of the game.
LateNightDoober@reddit
"90% of player numbers are bots"
"im speaking from personal experience"
the regarded human mind on full display.
OP in the image is also smoking the absolute pack if he thinks that CS GO, CZ, and 1.6 werent all utterly infested with hackers too.
Clicky27@reddit
CSGO didn't have that many hackers. Not compared to CS2
Dattebaso@reddit
????? I join random custom servers with 60 players all yapping in voice, i think its just you
AlleywayFGM@reddit
>Not a good look for the game
says who? no normal human gives a fuck if those hundred or so Albanian CS2 players are having a bad time.
azaza34@reddit
Is Europe still playing go then?
sunder_and_flame@reddit
No, casual just sucks ass. Comp is the new casual and premier is the new comp.
Independent_Ocelot29@reddit
That's because hardly anyone plays casual any more. You can get a premier or comp game in less than a minute most of the time, Faceit has a healthy playerbase, and there's enough community servers for stuff like deathmatch (yes I know valve dm is full of drop bots).
Hefty-Reception22@reddit
Yeah the games putting you in the same server because it'll have the best ping and has avaliable slots? Also trust factor and prime will affect it.
w1zgov@reddit
He is indeed a regard.
jjcoola@reddit
This a retard safe space man don’t worry
HandsomeTar@reddit
Then why do the bots I play with in casual have bad microphones and scream the n word
gianni069@reddit
Bots these days are super immersive
NotJayKayPeeness@reddit
If it's all bots farming drops, who are the customers if no one plays?
Thoob@reddit
Speculation/gambling
w1zgov@reddit
Yes I love people talking about of their ass. This is nowhere near a factual statement. Stop chewing marbles.
TheWalrusPirate@reddit
It’s the case for tf2, why would it not be the case for an even more lucrative game?
w1zgov@reddit
Bro what are you talking about.
TheWalrusPirate@reddit
Despite being consistently in the top ten highest players The majority of the active tf2 players are bots farming drops. Probably a similar case for cs if not the same
w1zgov@reddit
Yeah and Cs actually has players. I have 5k+ hours in the game. So if you have more than that then I'll even listen to what you're saying.
TheWalrusPirate@reddit
Tf2 actually has players too. I didn’t say nobody was playing.
gayhotelultra@reddit
what the fuck does a game being dead mean then
in both europe and east asia it takes me 10 seconds to get a tf2 casual game
TheWalrusPirate@reddit
Where did I say it was dead?
gayhotelultra@reddit
oh, i mixed you up with another guy in the comment chain, my bad
TheWalrusPirate@reddit
No worries
Pulp_NonFiction44@reddit
CS is actually popular and relevant lmao
TheWalrusPirate@reddit
Which game has a huge thing with the skins and gambling again? That has a whole skin economy? I can’t seem to remember.
Evignity@reddit
Tbh it is also Valve somehow having endless money and still fucking up esports
Back in 2013-2014 I used to tell my friends about Tf2,dota2,cs etc. and how valve were genuinely innovating with the whole recording of kills, items etc. and you didn't have to spend any money most of the time. I bought like 4 keys in Tf2 and earned 1600€ in trades before I got bored
Sure, they did try with tickets etc. but, like, Blizzard tried ten times harder despite not having even a fraction of the benefit.
Valve could've created the flagship gaming and esports. Instead they, like everyone else, turned into gold-hoarding dragons. Whilst Tencent is slowly buying up everything and inserting censorship etc. into shit.
AlleywayFGM@reddit
Dota2 was the best competitive game for a long ass time, I can accept that it's going out to pasture now. Though maybe if I still gave a shit about esports I would care more
xerocage@reddit
you sound sad...
xerocage@reddit
Whilst Tencent is slowly buying up everything
ohhh you're deep on that chinabad train.
xerocage@reddit
You are angry cause Gabe doesn't care about you.
Evignity@reddit
No, I always knew he didn't.
I'm angry retards like you and others pretend he ever did, when they're just another uncaring monster you suck the teet off
fruitymcfruitcake@reddit
"If i keep talking to myself, people will definitely listen to me"
Evignity@reddit
Not really. But I hate censorship and wouldn't you know it "tiaman" now makes you banned in games like Path of Exile generalchat despite "There will be no infringement on our games from tencent ownership :)"
Are you so fucking stupid you think it stops at that?
Evignity@reddit
I am.
We could have had a thriving world of esports and brotherly competition.
Instead we got literally 99.99% gambling-sponsors from countries that allow child-gambling. We got gacha. We got lootboxes galore. Gamers lost, the companies won.
Camulus@reddit
You can call people slurs in any Valve multiplayer game. Deadlock is full of it.
JbejMitchell@reddit
It being free makes it not fall off? Lol 90% of players are bots or farmers dog. It's a gambling game, not an fps.
PinBeneficial1366@reddit
Counter strike like Dota or tf2 - dead game for autistic people, with no interesting updates, no interesting new mods, only workshop related stuff and no bitches
Gaben win by doing nothing, but nothing changes and gayben lost
Angel_OfSolitude@reddit
Counter Strike was never the best. I don't get how it ever got so big.
BlackHazeRus@reddit
It is an extremely “simple” game which does not demand from you almost anything else aside from aim/reaction, basically a mechanical skill. Which is literally more than 90% of the whole game, if not way more.
It is very easy to get into and hard to master, since, again, mechanical skill and all that. Also, it popped up when it “mattered”, the game was pretty unique at the time, afaik.
Not a fan of CS gameplay, because it is extremely boring to me, I love gameplay diversity in my games. I’m from Russia — when I was a kid, I wanted to play Half-Life 1 on the local computer cafes, but everyone was playing fucking CS 1.6. I wanted to play regular Warcraft 3 matches, but everyone was playing DotA 1. Ffs.
rooftrooper@reddit
I didn't really like The Finals, but they brought back the destructibility into gaming, and made it server-side so even potato PC can run it. This is great technical and game dev feat and I will cherish and support them for it.
BlackHazeRus@reddit
Why didn‘t you like it?
rooftrooper@reddit
I'm not a fan of this genre and combat is way too action packed for my liking, but that's just personal preferences.
some_kid_with_parrot@reddit
The Finals is "one of the best shooters ever made"? Lmao. Your post reminds me of a time when i played a shit ton of R6S thinking the same thing, but then one friend suggested getting into CSGO after i got tired of TF2 and R6S. Year later, i realized that i was just brainwahing myself into liking a poorly handled compslop game (instead of focusing on refining core gameplay, they just added more bloat that generally contributed nothing)
BlackHazeRus@reddit
Yes, if you cannot see it, then you just do not know much about game design and gaming industry. Or you haven’t played THE FINALS, and even if you did, then you scratched the surface.
R6S is a good game, maybe even great, but THE FINALS is way and beyond it — the game oozes with attention to details, amount of polish, and innovation, be it in core gameplay or the main mode, Cashout, which is indeed a breath of fresh air in FPS.
Ranjit-RedeemSarr@reddit
Chatgpt-ass shilling happening right here
BlackHazeRus@reddit

Kulson16@reddit

BlackHazeRus@reddit
What did you mean by this comment? What did you want to convey?
Kulson16@reddit
don't shit yourself people don't want to play boring corpo slop games
BlackHazeRus@reddit
That’s the only thing you managed to say?
I guess by saying “boring corpo slop games” you mean games like Concord, right?
And do you really compare THE FINALS to Concord? If so, then I was right that you have zero understanding of game design and gaming in general.
If you disagree, then explain why you think THE FINALS is a “boring corpo slop game” then, lol.
Kulson16@reddit
Game so good no one want to play it
BlackHazeRus@reddit
I guess trying to have a meaningful conversation on 4Chan subreddit was a pretty idiotic move from me.
Enjoy your “dead games” Steam charts jerking.
Kulson16@reddit
Can't even answer my argument run away dog
BlackHazeRus@reddit
Can’t answer? I answered and commented on all of your points, yet you did not reply to any of my questions.
The dog is you according to your logic.
TheWorldEndsWithCake@reddit
It also depends on when you played tbh. Siege was an awesome tactical game (especially after the health patch) until operation chimera, and it started going downhill from there.
CS is so refined at its core that it makes some level of sense to play competitively (although I was global elite solo and it’ll drive you insane playing with throwers/against cheaters). Games that rely on new OP characters every three months for revenue tend toward disastrous balance, shockingly.
InspiringMilk@reddit
If most people don't want to play the game the way it was designed, then it is not one of the best shooters ever made.
BlackHazeRus@reddit
You are missing the point, buddy.
Moreover, the amount of hidden gems that exist is staggering, I bet even you know this.
I’m not gonna dive deep into explaining what and whatnot — feel free to watch, say, Kelski’s videos about the game
Kytras@reddit
Listen, buddy, I’m a big fan of The Finals, but let’s not pretend it’s the best shooter ever. I don’t know how long you’ve been playing games, or how old you are, but Counter-Strike is already a generational game. It’s proven over the past two decades that it’s one of the greatest shooters ever made, stripped down to pure skill and none of the unnecessary clutter. If you’re not that into competition, then fair enough, I can understand why you’d feel that way. But if you’re really as devoted a player as you say, how can you not see Counter-Strike as the best of the best? - father B.Headshot
BlackHazeRus@reddit
I didn’t say Counter-Strike isn’t a generational game, I didn’t say anything about it regarding this.
> If you’re not that into competition, then fair enough, I can understand why you’d feel that way. But if you’re really as devoted a player as you say, how can you not see Counter-Strike as the best of the best?
I am into competition. You think that mechanical skill is everything and hence the game is amazing — I disagree, I want more from my games, diversity and variety in gameplay, which THE FINALS provides, and many other titles. Counter-Strike is bog-standard game without much innovation to its core gameplay formula. Should it be changed? Of course not, I’m talking about my own preferences.
However, if you think CS can be one of the best shooters ever and THE FINALS cannot, because it’s not only about mechanical skill, then I don’t know what to tell you except it is an idiotic take.
P.S: I’ve been playing videogames my entire life and played a fuck ton, I love to learn about game design and shit, and I’ve been playing THE FINALS since CBT2 — it’s not a perfect game, no game is, but it is one of the best indeed.
P.P.S: stop jerking off to “uhhh aim is the only thing that matters in a shooter uhhh”.
InspiringMilk@reddit
I've played it and didn't like it. I like overwatch and team fortress 2, mind. But if counter strike and valorant players liked it, it'd be popular. It's a free game, low barrier to entry for established shooter players. "Hidden gems" are exceedingly rare, and especially for multiplayer games.
So consider that you may just be wrong and people don't like it, and that maybe they don't like it for good reasons.
BlackHazeRus@reddit
OK, and? Not every game should appeal to anyone. Moreover, you didn’t even say why you don’t like it.
These game are similar to THE FINALS than Counter-Strike or Valorant, but they are not the same. THE FINALS is an arena shooter, closer to Quake, roughly speaking, though it’s not the best comparison. It is indeed a game of its own.
If Genshin Impact players liked it, it would be popular.
If Fortnite players liked it, it would be popular.
If DotA 2 or LoL players liked it, it would be popular.
Buddy, what is the point of such statements? Water is wet, or what?
Low barrier? I think so, however the reality is that most people are not willing to learn a game and they think it is functionally the same as CS or COD — so many new players make idiotic mistakes and refuse to learn the game.
My point about “hidden gems” was that some games are indeed amazing and they do not have a massive community behind it. THE FINALS isn’t a hidden gem, it’s kinda well-known amongst the big dedicated FPS fans, however it’s almost unknown among regular folks.
Says this and lists no reasons, lmao.
I’ve heard lots of takes about the game from people who stopped playing it, and it was legit all skill issue or idiotic attitude, or both. I didn't say people play it like COD and CS and expect it to be such, out of the blue — I say it from experience, I saw lots of people like that.
I listed one of the real reasons already — the game has a low skill entry, relatively speaking, however it still requires people to learn the game and think “outside the box”, hence why I call it, basically, 4D chess. Some people refuse to play it, because either they just cannot accept the complexity of it, it’s too much for them (I know a couple of people like that), or they just do not manage to sit through the, sometimes, ruthless matchmaking to learn the game — though the issue is that most people, as I’ve said, play it like CS or COD, like they think Kills/Deaths are the only thing that matters, but not only they do not score kills (or they might), they are still losing, because the game is about the objective (Cashout), not flexing your KD. Add the fact that it is very-very teamplay-heavy game, and solo you cannot do much.
some_kid_with_parrot@reddit
lol
InspiringMilk@reddit
Yes. So, because people don't want to play the game the way it was designed, do you blame the players, or the game? I think that, given that the players have been there for longer than the game, blaming the game is the right thing to do. People don't want their 4d chess, people want to flex their KD, and a game can be teamplay-heavy while still allowing significant solo action (admittedly, I think all shooters qualify here).
amidoes@reddit
That's just cope my friend, CS is not only about mechanical skill but also smart playing
Players that are turrets and can only shoot well can climb the ranks but will never get to the top because they will keep getting outplayed and outsmarted by the top players
It is simply the best FPS
NotJayKayPeeness@reddit
I always figured it was because the simple graphics meant even people playing on bricks in 3rd world shit holes could play.

hl356@reddit
Counter Strike is not a fun experience without a 5 player team that dedicates a small portion of time learning utility ('nades), positioning, strategies, aim training etc. If you believe the opposite, and solo queue or even with a few friends you WILL burn out, and the toxicity will get the better of you and you will become a part of the problem.
All of the toxicity comes from the fact that noone at Valve has put in a smidgeon of effort into actually tutorializing the emergent strategies that come from playing the game, they passively enable and parasite from community tournament matches, but the game has no mechanism to enforce, teach, and show other players what mechanics any given teammate has, obliterating any strategic possibilites from the game.
Shooting is arguably at most the third most important part of CS. Positioning, Gamesense, and Timing are more important than raw aim. This is supported by aim penalties for movement, and movement inertia.
Everyone treats this game like an FPS, and not the minimalist tactical shooter it really is. It's like Ready or Not without the fluff (aim down sights, leaning, etc)
At the end of the day, what pulls people into multiplayer are the surface-level parts of games, what retains them is the depth, but that pavlovian lizard-brained mentality drags all other players down that actually want to engage with the emergent mechanics by monkey-brained ret*rds that keep playing to keep chasing that dopamine hit of not outplaying their opponents, but getting lucky a few times and killing better players than themselves.
Fuck Valve, fuck Counter-Strike, fuck the community. Fuck every person that keeps playing this garbage.
If Valve actually fixed their game, the toxicity would end. But they keep rewarding people for playing like idiots and coping with skins.

You had to pay to play ranked since 2012, it's just that cs:go was a paid game initially.
StormR7@reddit
Yea I paid for it once like 10 years ago and I have almost 1k hours logged. Pretty good return on investment
MarkedByNyx@reddit
CS2 Is such a downgrade over CSGO that it’s ridiculous, but tbh I’ll always play CS2 casual because it is still the only game where you can call everyone all kinds of slurs you want and not only will you not be banned or suspended, but you will also find tons of people that will talk shit back to you, and that’s funnest part of the whole game.
Modern_Ketchup@reddit
this cheating this very true. they even remove your rank later for random queuing onto a team if you win and they are a known cheater

Wouldn't say the best, but definitely good TDM game, but Anon made a mistake you still had to buy the CS ~ CSS games, and still had to deal with cheaters back then.
The difference is active player count, and CSGO/CS2 are F2P which allow people to cheat without a care for non prime matches, cheaters always going be in some games ruining it for others may it be CS1.4 to CS2.
