CaptainPunisher@reddit
r/TRON LOVES Daft Punk
Ghoulish_kitten@reddit
Yes back in HS! I still dig them.
LongOrganization7838@reddit
Yes they were extremely popular and were one of the biggest names in the electro/club scenes going from the 90s to the 2010s
BossDjGamer@reddit
No
Reception-Whole@reddit
False!
she-dont-use-jellyyy@reddit
People are allowed to have different opinions. I don't like them either.
Reception-Whole@reddit
Of couse they are, but what you said is false.
People DO like Daft Punk here in America. Many many people like them.
Just because you don't doesn't mean other Americans done đź«
she-dont-use-jellyyy@reddit
I didn't say that though. You're confusing me with someone else.
BossDjGamer@reddit
I don’t like your tone, madam
Reception-Whole@reddit
That's okay!
TheOneTruBob@reddit
Around the world, a round the world
Around the world, a round the world
Around the world, a round the world
Around the world, a round the world
LiqdPT@reddit
Literally the only daft punk song I know
PineappleFit317@reddit
What about Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger? Or have you seen the movie Tron:Legacy?
SavannahInChicago@reddit
I know the one from Kanye. I did not know Daft Punk has a song of the same name.
BossDjGamer@reddit
That’s the same song right?
LiqdPT@reddit
Gonna be honest, I thought that line was from the other song.what I've learned is that I recognize individual lines, and sometimes those are repeated.
But also if someone asked me who did those songs, I couldn't have told you it was Daft Punk
TheOneTruBob@reddit
Well there's also
ROCK! ROBOT ROCK!
ROCK! ROBOT ROCK!
ROCK! ROBOT ROCK!
ROCK! ROBOT ROCK!
LiqdPT@reddit
Nope, don't recognize that one

She's up all night til the sun

We're up all night to get lucky We're up all night to get lucky We're up all night to get lucky We're up all night to get lucky
LiqdPT@reddit
These aren't all the same song?
doozle@reddit
I prefer the second verse.
famousanonamos@reddit
Nope
Reception-Whole@reddit
False.
famousanonamos@reddit
I'm in the US, I don't like them. I know many people who don't like them. Can't speak for everyone obviously.Â
Reception-Whole@reddit
I believe you!
This question I feel is silly and asked by someone who doesn't understand just how big and culturally diverse America is.
Europeans really have no idea the magnitude.
Successful-Pie4237@reddit
There are people who hate techno music and people who hate the French. No one else dislikes Daft Punk.
InvestigatorJaded261@reddit
No. I only like them in Australia. (/s)
zoppaTheDim@reddit
No
Faceless guys, easily replaced by day labor and an ai program.
almondsmana@reddit
Yes
NationalMyth@reddit
Yes, but harder and better. Well and maybe faster, too, but don't want to come off too strong(er)
awmaleg@reddit
Very much yes
tegeus-Cromis_2000@reddit
I'm in the us and I like very much Daft Punk group music electro.
Fresh_Strain_2089@reddit
Why would we not love Daft Punk? Are we stupid or something??
Live_Dog_2779@reddit
Very much so, they are my favorite musicians. I was heartbroken when they broke up.
funktion666@reddit
Fuck yeah. They were huge 20-29 years ago after Homework came out with Around the World and the following few albums.
PikaPonderosa@reddit
>:( Damn you, passage of time!
Pedadinga@reddit
Whooo! Found the other old timer! Love Daft Punk, since back then. It's always top five year end wrap for me, with beastie boys hahaha I guess I haven't changed musical tastes much since then
LunchEquivalent769@reddit
Certainly
TheRealThordic@reddit
Yes
Henry_Fleischer@reddit
I'm not a fan of them, but I do like them. I should listen to more Daft Punk.
iowanaquarist@reddit
Obviously.
JohnMarstonSucks@reddit
I couldn't identify a single song of theirs if I heard it.
ArkansasTravelier@reddit
I just don’t like that style of music but I know who they are and remember a song or two, and the sample that Kanye did years ago so I’m pretty sure people like them
jrhawk42@reddit
I don't think they are as big as they are in the EU, but they're pretty big in the US. I mean how many other groups are mentioned in another popular song? (https://youtu.be/Cj8JrQ9w5jY?si=yajZ_U8RnNouq1kb)
GSilky@reddit
Yes. They have one of the few songs produced in the last 20 years that even old men at weddings jump on the dance floor for.
bryku@reddit
Theh had a decent following at one time, but it seems they have faded a bit. That being send, the tron sound track went pretty hard.
LemonSkye@reddit
The band broke up in 2021, and their last actual album (that wasn't a soundtrack or produced for another artist) was released in 2013. I think "Starboy" with The Weeknd was the last big thing they did.
JeebusCrispy@reddit
I like Daft Punk wherever they are.
Winter-Warlock8954@reddit
Daft Punk still makes it into my play list.
stayweird3000@reddit
Yes. They’re more famous in America than most American EDM acts. Tell them we said hi!
botulizard@reddit
Yes, I like them very much.
UnoriginalInnovation@reddit
Yes
HotButteredPoptart@reddit
I do not.
baalroo@reddit
I love their first two albums and Alive 1997. Not really a fan of anything they did after that tbh.
MMARapFooty@reddit
They're popular in the USA
One More Time!
OldFoolOldSkool@reddit
Let’s listen to Daft Punk… One More Time!
Low_Plastic363@reddit
Well, Daft Punk is playing at my house (my house).
RsonW@reddit
All the speakers are in the garage.

bizoticallyyours83@reddit

MountainTomato9292@reddit
Yes, my husband and I are both big fans
syndicatecomplex@reddit
I'm so sad I never get the chance to see them live.Â
Actually nobody had the chance to see them live since 2007.Â
Feral_Sheep_@reddit
Their soundtrack for Tron Legacy was great and I think it sucks that they got snubbed at the Oscars.
Secret_Werewolf1942@reddit
One of the all time great soundtracks. Derezzed is my ringtone in fact.
Pedadinga@reddit
I have found my people. I listen to it all. the. time. I legit thought they'd win the Oscar. Not just nominated, WIN. They nailed it. It's perfection.
dwhite21787@reddit
Blows my mind a Disney franchise got Daft Punk and NIN for the soundtracks
Whoever made those calls earned their pay
newimprovedmoo@reddit
And Wendy Carlos, back in the day. Less famous perhaps but a majorly groundbreaking figure.
dwhite21787@reddit
How did I forget!!! I picked up the first W Carlos albums on LP when they came out
EgoSenatus@reddit
I haven’t thought about them since 2014.
Confetticandi@reddit
They were very popular here in the 2010sÂ
BossDjGamer@reddit
Amongst who?
newimprovedmoo@reddit
Everyone? Random Access Memories had like four or five charting hits.
czarrie@reddit
Considering me and my best friend basically had them on repeat during our road trips at the time...me apparently
Confetticandi@reddit
People into electronic music and people  into Top 40 radio hits. Their music was everywhere for a few years. It was advertised as a selling point that they were  writing the soundtrack for the 2012 Tron reboot movie and they swept the 2014 Grammy Awards.Â
RsonW@reddit
And 00s.
newimprovedmoo@reddit
Yeah, they've been popular since I was a teenager.
Slow-Objective-7440@reddit
Yes
jakerooni@reddit
YES I have loved them for a couple decades now :)
2Asparagus1Chicken@reddit
What is that?
JadedCycle9554@reddit
Some older people are probably nostalgic for when daft punk was super popular globally. But it's pretty mediocre music and is treated as such. There's just so much American music that is so much better that unless you caught that wave a band like daft punk is nothing to Americans.
It's hard for foreigners to understand because that's like your one thing that was cool. When for Americans everything we do is the coolest thing to happen in your country, so your one thing that was cool 30 years ago is just so pathetic and boring to us, that why would we waste any mental energy on it?
Wallawalla1522@reddit
Take a lap
she-dont-use-jellyyy@reddit
"Older people" lol
CrazeJuju@reddit
what in the reddit
Many-Rub-6151@reddit
I don’t think anyone really hates them, definitely liked overall. They aren’t really as relevant anymore since that Lucky song with Pharrell but few of their songs are considered timeless bangers
dangleicious13@reddit
Define hate. If one of their songs comes on the radio, I’m going to turn the station.
dangleicious13@reddit
I don’t. I don’t like any of that stuff.
ProfessionQuick3461@reddit
Yes.
bloodectomy@reddit
Hell yeah we do
Aeon1508@reddit
They're okay
homework is fine
Discovery is really good
Human after all kind of mid
Random Access Memories is on the Pantheon of greatest albums of all time
RespectableBloke69@reddit
Yes. Made me very sad when they retired.
dulcimerist@reddit
Discovery is still in my top 5 favorite albums, 25 years after I 'discovered' it.
continuousBaBa@reddit
Oh hell yeah
LightAnubis@reddit
Fuck ya.
PapaTua@reddit
They're OK, but I'm mostly not interested.
I should note I was a raver dancing to house, techno, and trance for years before Daft Punk broke through.
They've always sounded like trashy pop music to me.
Zaphied@reddit
The second Tron movie was pretty much Daft Punk the cinematic musical. So yea.
NecessaryPopular1@reddit
Yes.
normiepitbullmom@reddit
Yes many people love daft punk
DarkLink909@reddit
Absolutely love em, my favorites since I was a kid!
MyFace_UrAss_LetsGo@reddit
Yes
PurpleLilyEsq@reddit
I’m a figure skating fan so I associate them most with Madison Chock and Evan Bates’ free program from the 2022 Olympic season.
problyurdad_@reddit
I don’t go very deep into their catalog but what I do know is that enjoy.
Spirited-Way2406@reddit
Just re-watched the original Interstella 5555 last week!
Traditional-Joke-179@reddit
for sure. i also love pentatonix daft punk medley. they recorded it in their kitchen and filmed the video inside a closet and it won them their first grammy. Â
PabloPicasshooole@reddit
Fuck that n****, baby, damn, he ain't that fun
I mean, do he got a song with Daft Punk?
therealgookachu@reddit
No, but I don’t like pop music.
shelwood46@reddit
Not my thing at all, but they've had a few hits here.

PeterNippelstein@reddit
Theyre revered
Purple_Technician759@reddit

SplitOpenAndMelt420@reddit
I like them in every country
polkjamespolk@reddit
Do you like They Might Be Giants in France?
Longster_dude@reddit
Hell yes. At least their Homework album. I haven't been keeping up with any recent releases.
LemonSkye@reddit
The only one that people were lukewarm on was Human After All, and even that was highly influential on pop music in the years that immediately followed its release. Discovery and Random Access Memories are both well-regarded.
lovemesomezombie@reddit
Oh yeah, they are good.
Drewness326@reddit
Love them
Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeess-@reddit
I like them as in I’ll listen to them if someone else plays them but they’re not in any of my playlists
Rogue_Cheeks98@reddit
Random Access Memories is my road trip album
Bitter_Ad8768@reddit
Fragments of Time is the perfect song for driving late at night.
Fun_Machine7346@reddit
It is daft.
Amockdfw89@reddit
Not as popular as they once were, but they are considered classics.
They are arguably one of the only few electronic acts who were household names, and they have crossover appeal for people who don’t really listen to that genre.
They have been featured guest with and sampled by several big American acts.
They very often appear on “best albums of 2000s” list by music publications and widely respected by music nerds
SnooHabits6008@reddit
YES VERY MUCH! I love those robot men
Asiawashere13@reddit
Yeah
sunny_6305@reddit
I love when Voyager comes on when I’m driving late at night.
Maleficent_Button_58@reddit
Some do, some don't 🤷🏻‍♀️
IanDOsmond@reddit
It's not my usual style of music so I don't seek it out, but when I hear it, I like it.
RatonhnhaketonK@reddit
Sure, they're alright
Genius-Imbecile@reddit
I liked some of their songs. Aerodynamic is probably the one like best.
crazyv93@reddit
Yes, they’re among the most famous electronic acts in the US. They’re not household name recognition level but there are millions of Americans who like them
Common-Charity9128@reddit
One more time
BlasphemousRykard@reddit
Absolutely, they’re one of the best electronic bands of all time. Random Access Memories and Starboy really brought them into the more general American mainstream, but I knew them from early Internet memes LOL
Aztroa@reddit
Yes
TheGrauWolf@reddit
Daft Punk, Deadmau5 too...
log0n@reddit
R.A.M is perhaps the greatest album ever made.
Not so hot on there other albums.
PerceptivePines@reddit
I’ve only heard a few of their songs, but love 💜
Reception-Whole@reddit
Absolutely yes.
And Justice.
NOLA-VeeRAD@reddit
They are well known and well liked. I don’t typically listen to electro so until recently I never listened to their music.
It wasn’t until I heard Cage the Elephants cover of Instant Crush that I was introduced their music, and have loved them ever since.
Cage the Elephants cover that got me hooked:

ParticularBuyer6157@reddit
