This post is stupid, but I find it interesting that Muhammad Ali (his Wikipedia article is literally titled Muhammed Ali of Egypt) was in his 40s when he first set foot in Egypt.

Repulsive_Work_226@reddit
so? maybe 30% of us have Balkan origin. But we were settlers from Anatolia.
StPauliPirate@reddit
Umm no. Many Balkan „turks“ are just ethnically balkan people who converted to Islam.
Repulsive_Work_226@reddit
no not true. read the documents. we were sent from Anatolia. of course they might be some converts too but most from Anatolia.
Kooky_Appeal_6554@reddit
Three Turkish beauties—the daughters of Bego Mustafa of Ada Kaleh, Romania. Do they look Anatolian?
Empty-Pace-4228@reddit (OP)
Do you know what, they surprisingly look very Anatolian!
West Anatolia though, not the inner parts.
Kooky_Appeal_6554@reddit
Around 1390: the island belonged to the Menteşe valisi Fîruz Bey.
Around 1430: 216 Turkish inhabitants were counted; the island was then called Sâan. It is said that the first inhabitants of the island came from Mugla, Milas in Turkey.
Suitable-Decision-26@reddit
Not really. Specific groups who converted are know and distinguished from Turks. Even today.
VagHunter69@reddit
Absolutely not 30% wtf. Of course Turks are a mix of the ancient, mostly hellenistic, people of Anatolia with the Turkic nomads. And that is probably even more than 30%. But that is certainly not Balkan.
Repulsive_Work_226@reddit
Balkan Turks migrated back to Anatolia is waves. Some of my ancestors came after the Russia 1878 war. At least 1.5 million Turks came during the period!
So I am a Turk with some Balkan ancestry. There are millions like that.
Kooky_Appeal_6554@reddit
Not only to anatolia, Majority of Balkan Turks settled in Eastern Thrace, = Trakya of Turkey.
ATAKURT1453@reddit
30%? that means more than the total population of the balkans. it's a mathematical absurdity.
at best, the total balkan population in turkey is only <5%
Repulsive_Work_226@reddit
what do you mean? 30% of 85 million is around 25 million how more than Balkans? on Romania and Greece together are more?
ATAKURT1453@reddit
okay, let's be realistic
current population of turkey is approximately 100 million. 30 million people is almost close to the population of the entire balkans
your argument is still absurd
Repulsive_Work_226@reddit
100m? where do yu get the data from. it is 86 million official government data.

Turkish_Teacher@reddit
There are a lot of ethnic Albanians and Bosniaks in Turkey but most people who settled to West Anatolia from Balkans werre ethnic Turks, who identified as such and spoke Turkish at home.
Including some of my own ancestors and our founding father Atatürk as well.
Empty-Pace-4228@reddit (OP)
That's true, Kocacık is a Turkified Albanian village, in 15th century, no Turkic settler was recorded there. It is where Atatürk's father was born.
Kooky_Appeal_6554@reddit
a Balkan Turk, Bego Mustafa, last Ruler of Ada Kaleh...
Empty-Pace-4228@reddit (OP)
My ancestors were also Balkan Turks! They were not rulers tho, they were peasants.
Kooky_Appeal_6554@reddit
Following the Austro-Hungarian occupation in 1913, the population of the Danube island of Ada Kaleh was officially recorded as 637 people in 171 households. Of these residents, 458 lived on the island year-round, the others also had residences in the Dobruja.
The population consisted of:
61% = Turks (but the majority of Turks were in fact a mix of Arabs, Albanians, Turks, and Kurds)
21% = Tatars
18% = Turkish Roma
