We started getting biased bad press. Come here and see that it’s pretty damn good. Perfect? Hell no. But as good or better than ever in general.

Reddit is absolutely awful sometimes. This is a valid question and I agree with the other comments: the answer is more or less Reagan

Where have all the hippies gone?
SchnTgaiSpork@reddit
Some people just don't seem to understand the difference between history and a Norman Rockwell painting.
DivineMatrixTraveler@reddit
Richard Nixon killed the hippie movement for freedom, outlawed psychedelics and ended the gold standard. This started the decline in the country that never recovered.

Those really cool people during the 60s? They got older and became Trump voters.
mid2010s@reddit
true reason is it was post WW2 and the US was beginning its reign as a superpower so it seemed cool and obv culturally influential. but reality wise the US sucked for a great majority of people at the time hence the civil rights movement during the decade
New-Sheepherder2239@reddit
It’s still cool af, don’t let the whiney ass losers fool you
Wyndeward@reddit
The Sixties when the societal rifts started, actually. Culture and counter-culture.
asteriskelipses@reddit
Are you high? The 60s were tumultuous as fuck!!
RollinThundaga@reddit
What about 1960s America do you think was cool? Understanding your preferences will help us explain why your perception of modern America is different.
SteveSteveCleveSteve@reddit
Hell it was pretty cool as recently as the 90s. Then Newt Gingrich happened and the damn thing started rolling downhill like a loose tractor tire.
sneezhousing@reddit
Cool in the 60's you mean when Black people didn't have equal rights. Women couldn't get a bank account or credit card without husband signature. What was cool back then
TwoPigeonsInACoat@reddit
Back when women couldn't get a credit card and schools were segregated by race?
Seriously?
Popular-Local8354@reddit
What do you mean what happened? In many ways we’re better off than back then.
Derminac@reddit
Seriously lol. I don’t remember rampant racism being “cool”
dgputnam@reddit
still cool 🇺🇸
OhThrowed@reddit
Can you just go away with your bad faith question?
Euphoric-Bat7582@reddit
Oh don’t worry, the government is still doing a fine job at keeping Black Americans’ votes from counting.
Prince_b1127@reddit
Are you insane?
dangleicious13@reddit
Pretty cool for who?
ticklethycatastrophe@reddit
Ronald Reagan is more or less the answer you’re looking for
GooseinaGaggle@reddit
Reagan
Roadshell@reddit
It was not so cool if you were black or a woman or any number of other things.
Many-Rub-6151@reddit
It was absolutely worse lol. There just wasn’t cameras everywhere or independent media to highlight all the fuckery happening.
SuspectOk7530@reddit
During Jim Crow? I humbly disagree
