Some people really have weird expectations on the US or simply don't do any research

Was browsing some immigration subreddits (in Spanish) and it's wild
-
Some people complaining about NYC being too expensive
-
Someone claimed that the West portion of the US there is nothing but boring fields.
-
Washington State is full of rednecks with pickup fords
-
Some National Parks are okay but they're better in Mexico
-
Some people were complaining that you cannot get ahead unless you have legal status.
Somehow for other countries, the expectations are less, way less.

These are all pretty standard stereotypes for the US in any language.

Then people should know not to move to NYC if you don't want an expensive city.. for example..

I mean, we can flip the coin and start talking about all the stupid things US citizens think about other countries.
Ive been asked MULTIPLE times if I had a pet kangaroo growing up.

So just to be clear, do you though?

It's also expensive for people who were born there and spent their lives there, but yes I understand your point, regarding people coming from other countries. I just think it's way worse than people expect.

NYC is too expensive, there are tons of rednecks in Washington State when you get out the Seattle area, and you can’t get ahead at unless you have legal status if at all.

Yeah I don't understand why people are complaining about the legal status. You cannot get ahead in most of the world

„Funnily“ enough until Trump the US was probably the easiest country to get ahead without legal status. Not many western/developed countries were you can work and your kids can go to school without legal status.
Obviously not a good idea anymore. TBC, I’m not defending the actions of the current admin at all.

I take you're not from the US and you've certainly never been to NYC. Some of that is silly, some is stereotypes loosely based in some reality, and some is totally accurate.
PopNo5397@reddit (OP)
If it's such a well known stereotype, why are people moving to NYC and get shocked, that it is in fact.. expensive
Bomboclaat_Babylon@reddit
If you really think people don't say things like this about every country, you're looking at information very selectively. Don't be such an easily butt hurt local.
