How can I make my current pc build cheaper?

CPU: AMD RYZEN 7 9800X3D 8-Core
Motherboard: ASUS ROG Crosshair X870E Hero AMD X870E AM5 ATX Motherboard
GPU: ASUS ROG Astral GeForce RTX™ 5080
Memory: CORSAIR Vengeance RGB RS DDR5 RAM 32GB (2x16GB)
SSD: Samsung SSD 9100 PRO 2TB
PSU: ASUS ROG Strix 1200W Platinum
Case: Lian Li O11 Vision Compact
CPU cooler: ASUS ROG RYUJIN III 360

Also, since this would be my first time building, would the things I listed be compatible with the case? How can I make this a bit cheaper, because on Amazon it's ringing me over 4000 dollars, and I'm just a college student trying to save money?

where did u even find this list of parts? I mean u chose the premium of premium to the point of excess in parts. u can easily do this for like $2k or a little less
Far-Construction-213@reddit (OP)
What should I replace other than the GPU? For most of my life, I always used pre built pc, and when it broke down, I just bought another pc. I want to build my own pc now, but I have no idea the parts, so I just googled YouTube and saw asmr pc builts and went off that.
No_Spare1827@reddit
yeah those builds are insanely expensive, what is the budget u would like to not go passed and what region are u in
Far-Construction-213@reddit (OP)
I'm in the US. Yes, Amazon is my most preferred site. I have trust issues with 3rd-party no name sites.
No_Spare1827@reddit
and budget?
Far-Construction-213@reddit (OP)
less than 3000
No_Spare1827@reddit
well if looks don't really matter then I would look at something like this
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/yctwzv
overall this will be similar to the build u have above with less popular but still high quality brands. So in this the biggest difference is the GPU I chose a 5070TI as it is a better value over a 5080 unless u want to play in 4k
if u want me to explain anything or u have questions like. i did leave in a ASUS strix motherboard in there even though u don't really need to spend extra on that kind of board but it does look nice

Thanks for the list. After looking at it. I think I may change my gpu from that Astral to the PNY NVIDIA GeForce RTX™ 5080 Epic-X™ ARGB OC Triple Fan. Do all 5080 perform in the same ballpark since this one is like 500 cheaper than the Astral.
Along with that, between the ASUS ROG Strix B850-F and ASUS ROG Crosshair X870E Hero what is the difference? The hero looks so nice, but what is the difference that it can perform for me?
No_Spare1827@reddit
Yes all the 5080s will perform relatively the same as Nvidia has pretty strict rules about what the board partners can do including temperatures and performance. so yeah the PNY card is perfectly fine in fact Nvidia uses PNY to make the founders edition cards
As for the motherboards, if u really want the Crosshair X870E Hero go for it but with a CPU like the 9800x3d unless u plan to become a serious overclocker then there will be little to no difference between them as the B850 has a large VRM and plenty of cooling already more than enough for even the higher core count CPUs on AM5 and the Crosshair X870E Hero is just that but up to 11 with slightly better phases in the VRMs and better cooling and better IO.

I do have a pc right now, I have used since 2024 with a 4070 Super, so I'm not needing to build a new one immediately. If I mainly get the PNY 5080, how long does such a card work before it becomes redundant due to newer generations of cards like 60 and 70 series Nvidia? Before 4070s I had a 1080 Ti, and it worked from 2018 - 2024, before, out of nowhere, one day it stopped working.

STart with not buying Asus shit.
Far-Construction-213@reddit (OP)
I love Asus, it looks so pretty.
PokerLawyer75@reddit
And if you watch Steve from GamersNexus and JayzTwoCents, who used to be sponsored by Asus, you'd never touch one of their products. That's not counting how many shit support incdients I've had with them repeatedly, including not honoring warranties.
Just for an example, if you were in love with that AIO cooler, the Tryx Panorama gets better reviews and can be found cheaper.
aragorn18@reddit
Well, you're paying a very expensive brand tax. You specifically asked how to make it cheaper.
wivaca2@reddit
What should they get instead. Just panning a whole brand isn't helpful. Not trying to start something but my last two ASUS were rock solid, but my latest MSI mobo am5 build with 9950x3d has the worst driver issues..
PokerLawyer75@reddit
I've got two decades and close to a dozen crap stories about Asus. But even as anecdotal as that is, go watch GamersNexus and JayzTwoCents and you'd stop buying from Asus.
MSI has the fewest problems out of the 3 major brands. Asrock has been up and down. Gigabyte has support problems.

If you're just planning to game, I would do this to trim off probably $1000:
CPU: AMD RYZEN 7 7800x3d. Much cheaper than the 9800x3d, but pretty close in performance.
Motherboard: Any B650 motherboard you like. You do not need an x870e motherboard.
GPU: ASUS ROG Astral GeForce RTX™ 5080 (I won't change this, because you probably like the Atral. But just know that all 5080 models will perform similarly, so you can find one for hundreds of dollars cheaper that'll do the same thing)
Memory: CORSAIR Vengeance RGB RS DDR5 RAM 32GB (2x16GB)
SSD: Find a Gen3 or Gen4 nvme instead. You will not see the difference in every day use or gaming from Gen3 vs Gen4 vs Gen5.
PSU: Super Flower Leadex vii 1000W. You dont need more than 1000w, and
Case: Lian Li O11 Vision Compact
CPU cooler: Arctic Liquid Freezer iii 360 if you want the best performing AIO for half the price of the Ryujin. If you want a screen, then the Thermalright Stream Vision 360.

Far-Construction-213@reddit (OP)
No, the case doesn't come with fans. I checked on amazon
SushiBump@reddit
You're right, I was thnking of the Dynamic Compact V2. Best of luck with your build.
wivaca2@reddit
I'd do a 1000W PSU for starters.
Also, consider a 4080 GPU if you can find one but it depends on just how cutting edge you need. What are you doing for monitors?.
Far-Construction-213@reddit (OP)
I currently have a 4070 super on my current pre bult pc. My current monitor is a 144Hz IPS 1440p
Maleficent-West5356@reddit
Get 7800x3d.
Hejdbejbw@reddit
You can make it cheaper by getting ASUS ROG RAM. Seriously, is this a joke?
Far-Construction-213@reddit (OP)
I don't see where they're selling that on Amazon or the Asus website
theflavoryellow@reddit
You could get a cheaper motherboard and a cheaper power supply. I don't know the power requirements for a 5080 but a 1200w power supply is massive.
Tks1991@reddit
Trolling much?
Jealous_Mastodon1854@reddit
Yes, go for a 7800X3D
It was the best CPU 2 years ago and can hang with a 5090 without bottlenecking. You’ll save at least $100
