Calling all Greek homies

I’m in desperate need of some delicious, authentic Greek food. Preferably a ma n pa restaurant to support our local folks. Any Greek peepz got some recommendations?
Thanks!

Kostas Cafe. I’m familiar with the one in Plano but am just finding out there is also one in Dallas. It’s definitely that mom & pop feel. Fresh ingredients and not stuffy in the least. Love it.

Def Kostas for the mom and pop feel. We took my son to the one in Dallas when he was just a little toddler. Older man running the spot kept checking in on us and telling us we needed to eat our vegetables and then insisted on giving our son a free dessert because "he was a very good boy". Probably top adorable Dallas dining experiences.

Ohh I heard of this one! My brother hasn’t been but said he wants to go to Kostas when I told him I made this post. Thanks!

Greek Isles is fire. I dig Ziziki's too personally

My favorite one in Carrollton moved, then closed... Now I'm sad and hungry.
ovi2k1@reddit
Was it tasty Greek on beltline?
reevener@reddit (OP)
Man I’m sorry!
ecodrew@reddit
Haha, no worries. Might have to get some Greek food tomorrow.
Fiss@reddit
I don’t know about the best because I don’t go anywhere else but I love the gyro at Stratos.

Flaming. CHEESE. On Forest. I like Zorba’s in Plano too.
reevener@reddit (OP)
CHEESE! I’ll look into it!!
JiveTurducken72@reddit
It's not mom n pop but Stratos is pretty good.
Fiss@reddit
I would consider it mom and pop since it’s family owned. You can’t miss the Hulkster looking guy
ecodrew@reddit
Stratos is amazing. Just set aside the next couple hours for a nap afterwards, haha.

I miss his commercials on Howard Stern - does his wife still own The Lodge

Go visit Kosta on Greenville. Incredible restaurant. Great hospitality.
They take siesta every day too, most of the really good authentic places do

Greek Isles. Best I’ve found so far.
ecodrew@reddit
Is Poyal & Preston correct?
I tried searching "Greek Isles" on google maps and it showed me the literal ones in Greece.
onionHelmetHercules@reddit
Yes on Royal
ecodrew@reddit
Sweet, thanks.
profsmartbrain@reddit
I second Greek Isles
reevener@reddit (OP)
That’s a good endorsement! Thanks!

If you're willing to trek to Rowlett Ephesus is hella good, and the service is unmatched
reevener@reddit (OP)
A bit outta the way but it’s definitely on the list!! Man, you are all coming in clutch. Thank you!
TheDreamsProject@reddit
I’d recommend Atheneo’s in Mesquite, definitely mom and pop. The owners hang around in the restaurant.
reevener@reddit (OP)
That’s so nice and mesquites pretty close to my side of town too. Solid! Thanks!
daveinacave@reddit
We like Yia Yia’s in Mesquite more, actually. Very friendly, great gyros.
TheDreamsProject@reddit
That’s a good choice too, imo!
RepulsiveInterview44@reddit
I also like Atheneos! There’s also a place in Murphy called Yanni’s that was really good, but it’s been years since I’ve been.
SoupNazzi@reddit
Sadly, they closed down. I think Covid did them in. :(
TheDreamsProject@reddit
You sure? Google says they’re still open? I know they moved locations.
RepulsiveInterview44@reddit
Oh no! I used to work across the street from there and would always grab lunch. That’s terrible.
SoupNazzi@reddit
There's another Greek place there now, but it's not a mom and pop and just isn't the same.
Current_Mess_9586@reddit
Zorba's in Plano off Preston
MarkTwang-@reddit
Anything in Dallas proper?
