Honestly was pretty smooth for going over mach7

Reminds me of the time I took the garmin out of my truck and on a training flight…was pretty cool after to see that my terrestrial gps had gone 412mph.
HornFishers@reddit
15:51 in a 737? That’s a fresh kind of hell.
brokebackmonastery@reddit
Definitely going to need some upgraded seat cushion materials for that one.
flyingcanuck@reddit
Give it 10 years and it'll be reality.
XLR can go 11hrs with the extra tank I think?
Foggl3@reddit
MAX10 might be out by then
Jmersh@reddit
Airspeed or groundspeed?

Ludicrous speed

You’ve gone to plaid!

African or European?
Dinosaur_Wrangler@reddit
There’s no such thing as an unladen Seattle swallow.
lukemb29@reddit
How does this even happen
SwissMargiela@reddit
If I’m not mistaken, the screen uses information from the flight management system, usually detecting speed via some sort of GPS.
Whereas for the speed readings in the cockpit, the pilots use actual sensors on the plane. I also believe the pilots see airspeed vs entertainment center showing ground speed.
So it’s prob just a software issue with the FMS
Dinosaur_Wrangler@reddit
Someone else said they were LAX to somewhere in Texas. GPS jamming is common at white sands.
That was my first thought.
absoluteczech@reddit
It doesn’t ?
stickymeowmeow@reddit
I think they mean how does the incorrect result happen. Like is it the software, the sensors, GPS… what part of the system is malfunctioning.
I refuse to believe anyone could actually think a 737 could go 4711 mph
GumGumChemist@reddit
It could, but only once, and not all together.
ad3z10@reddit
I'm not sure you actually could without going into space.
Even the fastest supersonic jets top out at less than half of that.
xb9j@reddit
737s are well known for perfectly functioning sensors and software, they must actually be going that fast
lukemb29@reddit
This is what I meant, yes. I am aware that a 737 would explode long before even thinking about hitting that speed.
tokwik2@reddit
What if they were on the downhill run? 😜
Economy_Link4609@reddit
It doesn't - at that speed a 737 (or any airliner) would cease to exist.
BurgersWithStrength@reddit
Everyone in McKinney is on a 737.
mwthomas11@reddit
nice reference lmao
U2ElectricBoogaloo@reddit
I don’t know, but there is never too much speed when trying to get out of west Texas.
bmwkid@reddit
Buc-ee’s has billboards that make you stop and think how big Texas really is.
If I remember correctly there’s one in El Paso that’s like Buc-ee’s Beaumont 850 miles
1202burner@reddit
Duuuuude! Not even a joke.
I used to drag race the oil field tankers in west Texas years ago when I was over the road. Bury the needle into the ass end of the speedometer, watch the fuel gauge slowly drop, oil temp rise, and a couple decades later I'm STILL not even close to the New Mexico state line.
Even my dad did it one day and even he was like "You know I'm getting real tired of being in Texas right now, I understand now why you always get into those little drag races with the oil field guys in the middle of the night".
The most boring moments I've ever had in trucking were driving through Texas, even worse during the day.
Parking-Business-894@reddit
Fastest manned aircraft by over 300 km/h. Nice!
YMMV25@reddit
15h51m at that speed you’re going to circle the globe a few times.
xtopherpaul@reddit (OP)
It started as a 3hr flight from LAX to AUS maybe we’re taking the long way around ?
Chunderfork@reddit
Well yeah at that speed 3 hours is more than enough to get to AUStralia.
SevenBlade@reddit
And halfway back!
RAAFStupot@reddit
That's how long it takes if you follow the ice wall...
Redsoxdragon@reddit
All the pilots exes live in Texas, he's making sure they're all asleep so he can land undetected
IceBoxPete@reddit
15 hours on a 737 would be a nightmare for me. No thanks!
cheetuzz@reddit
“Los Angeles Center, can you give us a ground speed check?”
skyHawk3613@reddit
What was your tailwind ?
Ok_Assumption1542@reddit
SR-737
sithelephant@reddit
VNEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeee!
Physics_Unicorn@reddit
Did they accidentally get the speed of the rocket motor test track at Holloman?
Greenie302DS@reddit
My flight 9! A 737 on delta two days ago did something similar. Was a flight from SEA to LAS and it said 19 hours at 1984 kts (about Mach 3). I wonder if it’s the same plane?
chrisirmo@reddit
Rest in peace, my friend.
EntertainmentOk8254@reddit
My record in a 737-700 was 608kts. TAS @ FL230 somewhere over South Georgia heading home to MCO.
Call sign was “Citrus”
Inondator@reddit
Maybe after the 12th refresh of the 737 family it'll finally go supersonic, LOL.
Scrantonicity_02@reddit
That’s the…danger zone!
Imlooloo@reddit
The threshold for the contract is Mach 10. Not 10.1, not 10.2. ……10……… Just a little push……..
