Why won’t my 07 Manual Yaris start?

Hello! I have an 07 Manual Yaris. I recently replaced the starter after it would just click when attempting to start. The new starter is doing the same thing. The car will push start fine. I have replaced the starter relay, and the starter fuse. I have tried jumping with a good doner battery, still just a click. The lights and everything seem bright and all other electrical peripherals seem good on power. The starter was installed correctly and still just makes the same click as the previous starter. Also got the starter tested, and it’s fine. What might be happening?

Check your ground connections!

!solved was a bad ground connection. Connected negative terminal to the frame with jumper cable and started right up. Gonna check all the connections now thank you!

Had this happen to a ‘79 Trans Am. My brother saw the spark when it clicked.

Isn’t there a sensor showing that the clutch is pushed in? In an automatic car it would be the neutral safety switch. Will this car start in neutral with the clutch out? Whatever the sensor is, it is not recognizing that the clutch is depressed or the car is in neutral to engage the starter.
