Donations - clothes

Hi! I have a bunch of gently used and like new clothes I haven’t been able to sell and I’d like to donate them. But I don’t want to put them in one of those green metal boxes bcuz I may as well just trash them myself. Where can I donate that it will actually go to people who need them?
I’m in Hillcrest area for work most often but recommendations anywhere in Dallas is fine

Do they accept ladies clothes, or is it just children's. Thanks!

Any piece of clothing that a human being can wear, Genesis will accept.

They don't accept used items at DV shelters. Needs to be new for obvious reasons lol.

⬆️ everyone needs to know about Trusted World!

It's true. They have contracts with the local shelters and treatment centers. Organizations request sizes and such; Trusted World delivers them. This is what you should do.

I used to donate there bcuz I lived close to it but i stopped after I found out that one of the people that worked there would pick the best stuff out and then sell it at insane prices on their own seller site. It was kinda a turn off for a religious place..
Odd_Victory8603@reddit
Oh no, that’s horrible.

I am gonna feel stupid asking, I bet, but those drop off location bins.... are they not just that? 😩
Former_Respect_6240@reddit (OP)
They claim that they are but the majority just go to landfill or to be sold at thrift stores. Also the local people that need the clothes can’t get into them or get injured trying
EnoughSprinkles2653@reddit
Yes, but some are reselling for profit and not actually benefiting people in need.

Schedule a pickup from the Salvation Army.
CatteNappe@reddit
Salvation Army at 5302 Harry Hines. This is the shelter, not the nearby thrift store on Inwood.
Agreeable_Papaya8365@reddit
Avoid the bins, you’re right. A lot of that stuff just gets resold

Dallas Life Homeless shelter . I volunteered there once so it’s legit. We hung up the donations & put them on clothing racks so the homeless can come in & grab what they need.
