Hello, thinking of getting an ebike

As the title states, im thinking, very strongly, of getting an ebike. I was wondering what the best speed, style, and brand are best to go with. I need a bike that doesn't go any slower than 18mph to make it to my job (i live about 20ish minutes from my new job). I was also wondering what issues to look out for in new and used ebikes to ensure decent upkeep and long lasting bike and battery life. If possible please keep descriptions short but as detailed as possible or post links that you think would be beneficial to check out. TIA for any help in this. Hope your days are wonderful and safe 🐙

20ish minutes = how many miles?

Go to a bike shop.

You definitely want it to be able to go slower than 18mph.

It’d make it significantly easier to get on and off the bike that’s for sure.

That’s gonna be tricky. I guess you could get two and put them at opposite sides so you can get home. 🔄

Every single bike out there can go slower than 18 mph. How else would you start off?

Battery health is most important since a battery is expensive to replace. It's hard to judge battery health but age and number of miles is a proxy. IMO 3 years old or newer and less than 1000 miles is almost new. But the best way is to test drive a bike at fuil power for a bit to make sure it responds and doesn't lose capacity quickly.
If you are in the US upway.co is a place to buy low mileage ebikes and they come with a one year warranty. A brand that has a brick and mortar store near you is optimal since eventually you'll need service and shops tend to not want to work on the electrical bits of bikes they don't sell.
