What do I need next?

I live in Colorado and a law is supposed to take effect August 1st where the sheriff will need to approve you to get any semi automatic rifle/pistol that takes a detachable magazine and 12 hours of training what should I get before that happens?
Judoka229@reddit
Training
Civil_Application894@reddit
• Glock 17 and/or 19 (both would hurt!) • 9mm PCC • Mossberg Maverick 88 (budget-friendly) • Mossberg 500/590A1 (better quality) • Remington 870 (3” magnum chamber) • .308 Win/30-06 Springfield bolt-action • multiple stripped AR-15 lowers • multiple AR-15 uppers • 4-6 extra mags per firearm • 500 rounds per caliber
All of these are just recommendations and baselines, not to be taken to heart.
Sufficient-Appeal503@reddit
Get as many magazine fed guns as you can. Bunch of psa stripped lowers, pistol lowers, whatever you can. The other dumb thing about Colorado tho is I believe if you buy more than a certain amount of guns in a few days you get registered to a list. Oh and buy as many mags as you can those are gonna take a hit too id guess
Sufficient-Appeal503@reddit
Or, save your money and move out of Colorado to Utah lol
Civil_Application894@reddit
A Mossberg 590A1 (8+1 model).
ReasonableBridge5623@reddit
Buy an M7, a bunch of magazines, a large number of ar lowers (so you can build more), an M16, more magazines, and a ln Ar12 shotgun (dont forget more magazines). A 1911 wouldn't hurt either.
Snake-Plisskin-50@reddit
Training. What have is enough. Now learn how to run it. Run it like Carl Lewis in a race. Run it like a German train schedule.
Ammo and training. That is what is important.

A ptr in .308

Your own ability to know what you actually like. Why are you asking people on Reddit what to buy next?
Diligent-Parfait-236@reddit
Lose the vska, get a wasr.

Zpap and Wasr are impossible to get in Colorado right now it’s insane

.308 semi auto, that's one thing I wish I would've bought before my state went crazy banning shit.
mbh63@reddit
PCC or a shotgun?
Moist-Visit6969@reddit
Shotgun and a bolt action with a larger round.
IndependentPerfect@reddit
Second this.
Shotguns you can’t go wrong with a mossberg 500/590 or a Remington 870. They’re bulletproof in their design and will outlast you. Plus tons of aftermarket parts for them. If you’re Gucci benelli or beretta, take your pick.
A bolt 308 with nice glass you can’t go wrong with either. Ammo is affordable and everywhere. If it’s on a R700 action again the aftermarket choices are endless. If you wanna step to the big boys 300 WinMag is your friend. Again, ammo is easy to find. You can be affordable with the Ruger American rifles or savages (I prefer Ruger over savage) or imo Bergara makes the best R700 action rifles today.
I’d also suggest maybe a 22 rifle. Ammo is dirt cheap and 22 is a great option for trigger time without breaking the bank. You can get a brick of 500rounds for less than a tank of gas and have fun all day. Cant go wrong with a 10/22 or a CZ457. Fantastic choices imo.
Then you can get into the milsurp world
TLDR: shotgun (870 or 500/590), rifle (308/300WM), 22LR whatever fits your budget.

If you are trying to beat a looming legislative deadline on a budget, stop looking at complete firearms and go buy a 5-pack or 10-pack of stripped AR-15 lowers and at least one AR-10 lower.
The lower receiver is technically the "firearm" under federal law. Getting those transferred to your name before the August 1st deadline means you legally own the baseline serialized components. You can take your time over the next few years buying uppers, stocks, triggers, and parts kits shipped straight to your door without dealing with a sheriff's sign-off or a 12-hour training requirement for every single build.
Stack the lowers now while the background checks are standard, then build them out exactly how you want them later.

SIG AMT.
Longjumping_Set4530@reddit
I'd be more worried about the grip on that pistol if you didn't already do your ATF paperwork. That's a no no.
pookie_buster@reddit
What’s the problem here? I feel like all of these guns are legal where I am in GA
timmytuffknuckles97@reddit (OP)
Im pretty sure vertical grips on pistols are just nationwide ban there bud everything else is legal all my magazines were bought before the 15 round law came into effect and the brace on my pistol isn’t a stock
Longjumping_Set4530@reddit
I don't get your point. You have a vertical grip on a pistol. Federally illegal, lol. I'd get that thing off.
pookie_buster@reddit
Oh yea that’s right, although I thought I heard they lifted that
Longjumping_Set4530@reddit
Can't have a vertical grip on a gun shorter than 16 inches. Has to have the paperwork to be a short barrel rifle. Big oops. It's a federal law.
Diligent-Parfait-236@reddit
26" overall, on an 11" AR it just becomes an "other firearm".
pookie_buster@reddit
Such a stupid rule fuck the feds
Adventurous-Desk-699@reddit
You can’t have a 90° vertical grip on an ar-pistol. But the loophole is you can run 88° ones. Like the one I have on this arp. Almost full vertical but just a couple degrees turned to get around the laws about it.
timmytuffknuckles97@reddit (OP)
Your build is sick im jelly
Adventurous-Desk-699@reddit
It’s pretty basic, but it does have a partisan FRT in it that makes it go “brrrrrrrt” so that’s pretty cool 😂
timmytuffknuckles97@reddit (OP)
So many people are running FRT in arps right now those are the next thing to get banned😔
Adventurous-Desk-699@reddit
They tried that and it failed, technically I am pulling the trigger each time. It’s a very fast semi-auto. I’m in VA though, so unfortunately we’re probably about to lose everything. Governor just signed a law 2 days ago banning “assault weapons” and high capacity mags. Won’t be able to buy anything resembling an ar after 7/1/26.
timmytuffknuckles97@reddit (OP)
Yeah I took it off don’t know how that makes the firearm any more dangerous but whatever
Adventurous-Desk-699@reddit
You can legally get the 88° vertical grip. I have a few of them on my arp’s. I run the BCM branded ones.
Longjumping_Set4530@reddit
Unfortunately that looks like the Magpul vertical grip. I have one too.
Goingdef@reddit
Personally I’d delete this and repost with the said item removed.
Longjumping_Set4530@reddit
Agreed.
HybridP365@reddit
It doesn't. But Congress and the ATF have never let little things like logic or reason get in the way of making gun laws.
Goingdef@reddit
That caught my eye immediately too, that blade style “brace” ….and a grip.

Ruger 10/22? Unless this law exempts indie

slk28850@reddit
Magazines, slings, ammo. If you're looking for more guns are you looking for them in same calibers or different ones? If same more ARs. I also like my Galil Ace Gen2 in 762x39. I also like the Glock 17 gen6 I just got. If different maybe a battle rifle in 308 like an AR10 or Tavor7. Plate carrier and range belt would be good additions for training reloads and carrying spare mags.
