How thick ( above the pic rail) is the portion the thumb indexes on?
BetterGeiger@reddit (OP)
The highest part is 9/16" above the rail. That and a couple other details are noted in the product description, but you have to go to one specific version to see those details. I should probably make that info more visible.

I didn’t mean the tallest point. I mean how much thicker is the part that the thumb rests on. I’m not worried about clearance for iron sights. I’m wondering how much extra distance a thumb needs to reach in order to rest on top of it. How thick is the thing front portion?
BetterGeiger@reddit (OP)
Oh sorry. It's about 2 mm or 1/16" above the Pic rail. Not very high.

20, let alone $30 for a 3D printed skin cancer welt to put on your gun. I hope the mods eventually nuke this vendor spam off of the sub for good. The vendor deals were nice while they lasted, but this 3D print crap is getting unreal.
Honestly, every day I feel less of a reason to open this place up instead of just going straight to the front page of a similarly named web site, because there it's at least real products and not someone's backyard bullshit.
BetterGeiger@reddit (OP)
It's laser sintered, not extrusion 3D printed, so it's very tough. It includes steel fasteners. I spent time, energy, and money designing it, prototyping, beta testing, etc. Still quite in the negative overall. It's a unique product that doesn't otherwise exist. I've received a lot of positive feedback. A handbrake sells for more than this, and it's injected molded in huge quantities so it should actually be cheaper per unit. Mine is small quantity. But yeah don't buy one if you don't want one.

That can all be true, it's just not a deal in my world. If Arisaka shat out a 3d printed or laser sintered hand stop tomorrow and charged 20-30 dollars I'd be equally baffled to see that on DEALS.
BetterGeiger@reddit (OP)
Lol I was wrong, I just looked it up, actually the Emissary Handbrake is 3D printed, not injection molded.
1610925286@reddit
I don't care who is making them. $20-30 is not a deal when this is regular pricing for machined aluminum. I have held a emisary handbrake before and ever since I've stopped buying any sort of plastic controls. It feels like junk and arisaka or similar is available for less.
BetterGeiger@reddit (OP)
Complicated 3D machined aluminum part retailing for $20-30... And furthermore small volume made in the US. Yeah no chance in hell.

Looks cool, I’ll try one. How long is the code good for?
BetterGeiger@reddit (OP)
I'll leave it up at least a week.
ExactScreen9237@reddit
hmm I don't doubt they work but I just can't put something that ugly on my nice guns lol

How is the textured with a mod button or tape switch
BetterGeiger@reddit (OP)
Not sure exactly what you mean but I think it works well with the thumb stop sitting behind a switch or laser or whatever.
logandc@reddit
Which version is your favorite?
BetterGeiger@reddit (OP)
Textured. The mini is good if you need to cram it next to a light switch or whatever else, whereas the other two have more of a "shelf" to index on that I prefer. Between the other two variants, I don't personally need a lot of grippiness in that item, the geometry does most of the work, so for me the textured is good, no need for grip tape or whatever. Maybe someone trying for crazy fast consistenc competition splits or whatever might want the grip tape option.

These are like regular hand stops but more better because they go on top instead of on the bottom. I think it's a far more logical and comfortable place to give the hand a way to have more comfort and leverage pulling the gun into the shoulder and controlling muzzle rise, while reducing snag and awkwardness on the bottom when it comes to barriers and such. If you use a c-clamp grip (and why wouldn't you?) give it a try. People seem to like them.
I designed it because something similar didn't exist and I wanted it and I like it and I think you would like it too. These discounts are my way of trying to spread the word without a marketing budget. Give this thing a try and you will probably like it. If you don't like it you can send it back for a full refund.
You might have seen me here before selling my radiation detectors – www.bettergeiger.com – but this is my other thing.
