Is there any images on the internet of guns that used folded ammo? It’s ridiculous I can find rare foreign guns with a bit of digging but rare American guns I have to go through multiple old forum links that may or may not have a image or buy a expensive reference book

There's a DTIC report of an M16 converted to fire folded cartridges.

I can guess why these didn't catch on...
IlluminatedPickle@reddit
"The fuck do you mean by fold.... oh what the fuck is that?"
sinisteraxillary@reddit
This certainly is a joke. Can you imagine what a magazine full of these would look like? Or simply chambering and firing one of these?

Maybe if the primer was below the bullet and connecting tube bigger it may have had a chance. I am also reminded of German super guns with multiple charges along the barrel for increased power.
RogueAOV@reddit
Even if it worked i still can not figure out how this would be an improvement, the cartridge is shorter yes but in every other regard it would be worse.

Asked my friend apparently I sent photo of a drawing of a mock-up to him but he lost it bruh

It looks like April 1st joke. And it probably is.

I can't imagine this would work particularly well.
You've got a major gas bottle neck where the halves connect.
Gonna be wild pressure fluctuations as well. I'd think the powder burn would be hella inconsistent
Dr_Allcome@reddit
I would at least put the primer further toward the bottom. Doesn't pressure increase in the burn direction first? That looks a lot like it would blow out the end without a projectile.
observant302@reddit
You almost want the primer forward, same side as the projectile.
That 90°turn and tiny passege is gonna be a huge problem though

Thank you now I know it never left concepts
SchillMcGuffin@reddit
Several links here. It appears it was an experimental concept from the late '60s through the '70s, possibly for a recoilless weapon. It doesn't appear that any such weapons were ever actually produced.

The one about the weapon no longer works 🙁
