I'm still surprised that prices on TV's are the one thing that is cheaper. I bought a 19 inch TV back in 98 for like 225 dollars a few months got a 55 inch for 200 dollars.
FoppyRETURNS@reddit
DVD prices were DESPICABLE! back then. I was definitely a late adopter.
namdekan@reddit
Even worse at the mall, they were like 30 dollars
madogvelkor@reddit
I think I had that VCR and calculator.
simplebutstrange@reddit
Those calculators still pretty much cost that much

Back then everything had to look like it was made of recycled Terminators.

FF8 wasn't even really good
I was pissed that Final Fantasy ditched Nintendo for Sony so I was boycotting Playstation
So there i was trying to find JRPGs for N64 and GameCube.....

Having played it a lot recently, I think it's a solid game, amazing music and the presentation was mind blowing back then. But it is just not as great as the previous 2 games and changed things up too much. FF IX was really better and back to what made the series great.

You always had Zelda. lol

FF6 = best FF
hamburgler26@reddit
I'll never forget discovering this game after playing 7,8 and 9 and being like "WAIT, there's MORE" and realizing that FF6 was just as, if not more incredible than the newer games but just with SNES graphics.
That probably kickstarted my massive love of retro gaming.

I rented FF VIII and burned all the discs, my brother and I had recently modded our PSX and it actually worked. I remember I cut class the day I had it at home and played it all day.
My friend came over that weekend and saw my playtime and totally called me out for being a nerd and skipping school to play Final Fantasy. No regrets!

"Brand new Texas Instruments TI-83 Plus calculators typically retail between $70-$130 depending on the retailer."
Like damn it better run Doom at the very least for that price...
ionlycome4thecomment@reddit
I remember a game of buying & selling drugs on my TI-85 in school. Maybe not the computer power for Doom, but lot more phone than stats.

Drug Wars

Buying and selling “Coca Cola” always gave me a profit.

I saw a 55 inch 4K TV at Target for $250 today.
po_ta_toes_80@reddit
I played the shit out of that game.
trer24@reddit
We played Drug Wars on our Ti-83s back in high school
TheRealSalamnder@reddit
Ti-83 is the only tech that has not gone down in price over 27 years.
fromthedarqwaves@reddit

Past-Entertainment48@reddit

That TV/VCR combo brings back memories.
The xmas break freshman year in college, i REALLY wanted a TV. I worked 73 hours one week so I could buy a sale TV/VCR combo (13 inch) at Circuit City. $199.
It was bittersweet when I sold it at a garage sale in 2015 for $5.
Ltimbo@reddit
Hate to break it to you but old crt TVs are in demand now. You could get at least $100 for they today. Just check eBay.
