* **Option #1:** Add two more sticks of identical memory to give you a total of 32GB (4x8GB) + upgrade your GPU to a RTX 5070 or RX 9070 XT.
* **Option #2:** Just upgrade your GPU to a RTX 5070 Ti.
If the games you play can’t make use of more than 16GB of memory and that’s also enough for the productivity tasks you perform, then Option 2 would be my recommendation.
If the games you play and/or the productivity tasks you perform can benefit from more memory, then Option 1 would be my recommendation.
Both the RTX 5070 and 9070 XT will provide about 2x the performance of your current 2080 at 1440p. So, either would be a substantial upgrade. The RTX 5070 Ti would give you about 2.5x the performance of your 2080. The 5070 comes with 12GB of VRAM, compared to 16GB on both the 9070 XT and 5070 Ti, but 12GB is still enough VRAM to perform well at 1440p in nearly any game or settings.

5060ti 16GB+ or RX9070+ used 4070+

Under $1000 the clear winner is the 9070xt as the 5070ti is over $200 more expensive and only really beats it in RT,
In standard rasterisation they are essentially battling it out with wins on both sides,
If RT is a must for you then the only real choice is the 5070ti but 15% RT performance for over $200 isnt the best option,
This is at 4k so at lower resolutions you can get away with the 9060xt 16gb or the 5060ti 16gb but I assume you want to go 4k with the amount you are willing to spend.
I have a 5800x 32gb ddr4 3600mts and a 9070xt and game at 4k with a few more intensive/newer games requiring FSR4 quality for an above 60fps experience.
Nvidia only really makes sense if you either must have RT in games or must have the best performance and are willing to pay $1400+ for this privilege.

Wholeheartedly agree. But there is the 5070 non-Ti which closer to the same price as the 9070xt but the performance gap is even bigger (15-20% in rasterization). Only better in RT/PT and productivity workloads like video editing.

No need for a 5900X or NZXT cooler.
