The Whale reaches the Mediterranean Sea

MSY "Balena" finally got out of the french canals. mast is up and she's flying at 5.7 knots in 15 knots downwind. Slowly but indestructibly, we're inchjng our way down the180 NM left of our voyage from Stockholm, Sweden to Genova, Italy.

we got stuck in the frioulles as the Mistral blew, but no one's complaining, it's a beautiful spot to be marooned

Oh, and Achilles-my dog- came aboard for a little stretch. he's a bit big for the boat but he didn't seem to wind the rolling. such a good boy.

does anyone have any tips for sailing in this region?

It's a ton of work to maintain a wooden boat... It looks beautiful but most days I'm covered in some form of oil or grease.

Don't you eventually adapt to the grease and just become one with all of the oils around you?

I am 70% grease at this point. Everything is very slippery rn

Beautiful spot but the harbor master in vieuxport made us take down our Palestine flag for political reasons. We're down by sanary at this point, inching our way towards Italy

On a boat he can do what he wants, on land he's tied to a long leash so he can go swimming, but there are plenty of free dogs walking around the island.
