In this scene I just think of the full weapons blast at the Husnok ship, or at the borg cube and think the D alone could have toasted both of these.

Think what you want but it is reiterated throughout the entire tng series that federation vessels are tactically inferior to warbirds.
This post is as naive as the person writing it and I’m convinced it’s ragebait.
TaskAccomplished82@reddit
Agreed. As I always say, when the fans are this clueless, its no wonder Nu Trek writers were so horrendous with the franchise...

you should be embarrassed by this comment.
TaskAccomplished82@reddit
I more than embarrassed by you, I feel pity for you and the fact everyone single comment of yours is heavily downvoted speaks volumes.
bubbleweed@reddit (OP)
Go away you toxic weirdo.
DumpsterFireInHell@reddit
Looks like you're the only embarrassment here.

Or maybe you are taking a flippant post on a subreddit about a defunct science fiction show waaay too seriosuly.
LiminalSapien@reddit
If it’s defunct why is this sub as trafficked as it is?
Better yet, if it’s defunct what point is there in being flippant or bothering to tell me I’m taking it too seriously?
Your actions betray you /u/bubbleweed

the romulan shields are superior and two warships are a significant threat to a science vessel...
UnlikelySalary2523@reddit
The Husnok were destroyed by Kevin Uxbridge. That blast on the Borg vessel did not work, and it significantly depleted the defenses of the Enterprise. Two Romulan warbirds are a serious threat.

Yeah I know, I'm just commenting on the speed and quantity of fire the ship is capable of when it goes full out, not like the meek single shots they insist on doing in almost every later weapons firing in the show.
LeicaM6guy@reddit
The D is capable of inflicting a lot of damage, but it's not a warship and Starfleet members aren't the military. A single warbird is a threat to the Enterprise - and keep in mind that those are warships, and they are manned by the Romulan military. Two warbirds would have overpowered them.

Only because Picard had no cunning, "Mr. Worf I'm going to hail them and midway through my second sentence hit the lead ship with everything, then divert power to the forward shields to absorb the second ships first attack, then also hit them with everything, then prepare me a cup of earl grey and bring it to my ready room"
bubbleweed@reddit (OP)
Oh fucking hell, I've sinned against Saint Picard, forgive me!

Calm down there bud
and1984@reddit
Oh my. You haven't actually watched the episode, did you?
LeicaM6guy@reddit
You may test that assumption at your convenience.

“Cue two klingon birds of prey decloaking behind you”

I send that meme to a colleague at least once a week.

A vanilla Galaxy most likely couldn't have destroyed both Romulan warbirds.
Now, a War Galaxy with quantum torpedoes might have been able to destroy both of them.
Temporary_Spread7882@reddit
Galaxy X for the win.
That scene in All Good Things really flaunts how the Federation could’ve just built an Enterprise (-‘s sister ships) that cuts through warships like a hot knife through butter, and just settled their differences with the Romulans etc by sheer violence. Just like a few rogue Starfleet elements managed to develop superior cloaking tech with low-key enough R&D efforts to make this treaty violation fly under the radar.
They just actively chose to not go down that path.

A plot armour galaxy would wipe the floor with ten of them.
ChimPhun@reddit
Rambo mode: gets shot at 1000 times no hit, shoots once and hits 10 targets at once.
Technical_Inaji@reddit
MIRV photon torpedoes would go pretty hard.
Atticus_Fletch@reddit
The other team has ballplayers, too.
Cassandra_Canmore2@reddit
The D would take out the Left, and be felled by the Right warbird. The whole point of this standoff is Picard and the Romulans all know this. But the Romulans need a way to save face.
Thus the 2 K'Vort battlecruisers decloaking.
Hydrax120@reddit
Dominion refit galaxy would have a fighting chance. Vanilla D might have defeated one of them, but those shields wouldnt have lasted long against 2 warbirds.
The D was very capable, but not designed specifically with combat performance in mind. Being a battleship was not it's primary mission and simply was not equipped as such.
Quirky-Ad620@reddit
Which goes to show how powerful the Federation can be. They built a luxury long range exploration and science vessel and made it roughly as powerful as a dedicated Romulan warship built to fight.
Which goes to say… don’t poke a sleeping bear.
Well_Dressed_Kobold@reddit
The D, like most Starfleet vessels, is as vulnerable or formidable as the plot needs it to be at the moment.
bubbleweed@reddit (OP)
If they removed the exploding control panels with embedded pebbles and duct taped those starboard power couplings, watch out buddy!
heelface@reddit
Based on my Startrek CCG days a Galaxy class is the military equivalent of a D'Deridex Class or Vorcha Attack Cruiser
Sea-Quality4726@reddit
Those ships are just as capable of doing the same and taking the same punishment the Enterprise can. They are peers.
Firewalk89@reddit
She wouldn't take it for long. She absolutely would have lost this.
