Pour one out for a destroyed Russian Beriev Be-200 by Ukraine. There are only a few models of this jet-powered amphibious flying boat remaining.

Slava Ukraini!
Alarmed-Ferret4107@reddit
I dont have sympathy for the Russian invaders, but im sad to lose this plane. The Be-200 saved my life last year, they where used as Fire suppression planes and when forest fires broke out in Turkey these things dropped water from the heavens and saved the town I was staying in. The fire was stopped literally meters from the house I was staying in in an olive orchard. Fuck the orcs, But rest i peace legend!
WillyWarpath@reddit
Maybe they arent all evil orcs like you're made to believe?
MayorWestt@reddit
Then they should stop invading their neighbor and targeting civillians, or was i made to belive that?
Activision19@reddit
The Russians flying the water bombers fighting wildfires and the Russians flying actual bombers in Ukraine are probably not the same people…
InHeavenFine@reddit
they are the part of the same system. they serve the rabid government, stop crying over the invader side.
MartiniEU@reddit
Didnt ukraine also help in afghanistan?
Azzagtot@reddit
Should we also start our hate train towards citizens of USA?
I mean they all - being a decomratic country - elected Trump who started... ahem... UNPROVOKED ILLEGAL WAR OF AGRESSION on Iran, kidnapped Maduro etc.
So, basically, should we apply colelctive guilt to every country's citizen, or just russians?
Maxrdt@reddit
OK but can we at least see the danger in "I'm only dehumanizing the bad ones"?
Activision19@reddit
You want to dehumanize the good ones too? How about we not dehumanize anyone. Dehumanizing people (for any reason) is how atrocities happen.
Maxrdt@reddit
That's exactly what I'm saying. Separating the firefighters and the warfighters so we can only call some "inhuman" and "orcs" is a slippery slope.
Letho_II@reddit
Well, atrocities are already happening, aren’t they
WillyWarpath@reddit
If you want to see what targeting civilians looks like, turn your outrage to gaza. The first 2 months of that conflict surpassed ukraine civilian casualties.
Not to mention there is literally video evidence of ukraine and russia using infrastructure like schools as supply depots or barracks, so the 'Russia strikes a school!' Headline should carry less water with this context.
fastsailor@reddit
Whataboutism
Activision19@reddit
So just like how Hamas (the government of Gaza) uses hospitals to hide weapons in and schools as training centers for more Hamas fighters?
WillyWarpath@reddit
Yes, exactly like that. Which again highlights the massive disparity in civilian casualties.
thiccbimbo@reddit
A redditor using common sense? Unbelieveable
Dr_Diktor@reddit
Knowing Ukraine, it absolutely was one. No protection because it's for civilian use, so a soft target. Will look good in social media because nothing else good to report from actual battlefield and anyone raising questions can be silenced by branding them "invader simps".
Alarmed-Ferret4107@reddit
With the term Orcs and Russian invaders it's quite clear who im referring too, if that's unclear to you your part of the problem. Russians who have nothing to do with the war and don't support it are in no way covered in that terminology.
skinnernsk@reddit
When Russians protect your home, they're good people, and you're grateful. When Russians protect the homes of civilians living in eastern Ukraine, your gratitude is forgotten, and you insult them. Why?
ForeignBlacksmith644@reddit
So all russians are subhuman to you?
InHeavenFine@reddit
i wonder why would somebody think that way...
speedyundeadhittite@reddit
Poor thing but hey, better than Invaders using it.
Dr_Diktor@reddit
For what? Putting out forest fires?
speedyundeadhittite@reddit
Sure, Russian forest fires while they are starting Ukrainian forest fires.
Dr_Diktor@reddit
You forgot Kazakhstanian and Turkish forest fires. And those are forest fires, nobody wins when those happen and Russia sure as hell isn't deliberately setting those, they just happen as a result of warfare.
speedyundeadhittite@reddit
Not deliberate?
Who decided to invade who?
Think for a second, just a second. And then close your PC with a shame.
LightningFerret04@reddit
Hopefully it wasn’t one of the firefighting ones because that would be detrimental to everybody
InHeavenFine@reddit
Less firefighting capability for russia = more damage to the invaders. What's your point?
AmericanFlyer530@reddit
Aerial firefighting tanker planes aren’t used to put out things like factory fires. They’re used to fight wildfires.
me_khajiit@reddit
I believe such planes are regularly used by Russia in abroad firefighting, like in Turkey or Balkans
speedyundeadhittite@reddit
True, some countries have no balls or ethics. Just look at mine, the UK, just relaxed sanctions against Russia to get cheaper oil.
LightningFerret04@reddit
I have family who were in Ukraine, to put myself into context I do care about the outcome of the war
But damage to the invader should be to military assets, not nature who is innocent. Encouraging the destruction of forests is detrimental to everybody in the end, it doesn’t really matter whose trees they are.
Ornery_Year_9870@reddit
Not when the invader is targeting schools, hospitals and apartment blocks.
Suspicious-Place4471@reddit
Ok looks like we have the Hamas mindset here
"Israelis commit war crimes against us so we are now authorized to commit warcrimes and target/harm innocents ourselves"
That's what separates Ukraine from the likes of Hamas.
dswng@reddit
Nope. I can bring you a dozen of civilian buses, tractors and trucks deliberately hit by Ukrainian forces. In not talking about buildings because that could indeed be an accident.
Also several terrorist attacks on civilians like a bomb in a full cafe during a meeting with war correspondent, Dugin's daughter car that was blown while moving on a highway.
The only gap between Hamas and Ukraine is the scale. But unlike Hamas, they know that it would be ignored since "they are invaded".
Ornery_Year_9870@reddit
You got it all backwards:
OK looks like we have the Israel mindset here: "Hamas commit war crimes against us so we are now authorized to commit warcrimes and target/harm innocents ourselves"
Fixed that for ya. Besides that: the Russians set the precedent for blowing up civilian airplanes on the ground when they destroyed the An 225.
CarrotCumin@reddit
Have you seen what the war is doing to Ukraine? The landscapes in the occupied regions look like the surface of the Moon. If you're going to come for someone "damaging nature" then come for Russia.
LightningFerret04@reddit
See you are all the same, you and so many people here are just assuming that I am on Russia side and are assuming that I am attacking people in support of Ukraine when I am not. Slava Ukraini. Just because I believe that nature should be preserved regardless of who claims the land does not make me a russian shill. Believe it or not it is fully and absolutely possible to wish for Ukraine to repel the invaders and end the current russian government without also wishing for the complete and total destruction of anything and everything on russian lands
Letho_II@reddit
Forcing russia to stop the invasion would save much more of the nature, actually
LightningFerret04@reddit
Yes it would, and how do you stop the invasion, destroying their military or burning down their forests?
Letho_II@reddit
By inflicting enough damage so the war stops being sustainable? Literally the comment you’ve replied to.
InHeavenFine@reddit
What a naive view of the world.
LightningFerret04@reddit
I suppose you think it is best for the world if we raze the Taiga into a desert, fill the Volga with nuclear waste and hunt Siberian tigers down to the last one and then torture it to death, slowly. Anything to hurt Russia, yes?
BasicMatter7339@reddit
Reducing forestfirefighting capabilities is a detriment to everybody, not just the invaders
Big forest fires that are becoming alot more common specially in northern europe dont really care for borders and the smoke is hazardous for those unfortunate enough to be caught up in the downwind even thousands of miles away
InHeavenFine@reddit
Oh, so that's why russians deliberately start fires in Chernihiv and Kyiv Oblasts (specifically in Chornobyl zone) by lobbing fpv drones over the border... Got it
QuarterlyTurtle@reddit
I imagine it’ll be a detriment to the firefighting efforts on all those Russian oil refineries that keep mysteriously exploding right immediately Russia apparently shoots down all the Ukrainian drones heading towards them.
Dr_Diktor@reddit
That's the same as pouring water onto a grease fire, those are for forest fires.
Dr_Diktor@reddit
Lack of brain function or rage bait. Call it.
big_dart@reddit
Also against forest fire that release a ton on CO2 in the atmosphère
papagajurernu@reddit
They sometimes use them to help other nations fight forest fires, saw one in greece 7-8 years ago.
BoarHide@reddit
I don’t think Russia is sending aid to other nations ever again…or that other nations will accept Russian aircraft in their airspace, for that matter.
daniilkuznetcov@reddit
Other nations is small cluster of eu countries, where the most prominent accepter was greece. In 2024- 2025 be200 worked in turkish, algeria and iran.
LightningFerret04@reddit
Firefighting aircraft are not used to fight building fires
daniilkuznetcov@reddit
Refineres and tanks are left to burn out. There is nothing to fight. If you use this plane on a refinery it will create more mess.
I_Maybe_Play_Games@reddit
What else would the russian realistically be using one for?
onewiththeabyss@reddit
Double tap strikes on first responders is typically a detriment to everybody.
OmarRIP@reddit
Are you familiar with the term dual-use?
Th3J4ck4l-SA@reddit
Most likely one in service with ministry of defence of Russia. They have recieved 3 since 2020. As you can see, not exactly painted in fire fight colours.
DeOptimist@reddit
Everybody?
non-of-the-above@reddit
"Invaders" use them to extinguish forest fires. The photo below was taken in Turkey.
speedyundeadhittite@reddit
Oh really? I wonder what else Russian invaders do.
https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/emergency-situation-massive-forest-fire-152230116.html
non-of-the-above@reddit
A BE-200 was used for that? Are you kidding?
speedyundeadhittite@reddit
I guess technically they can attempt to quench the forest fires they started, but no, it's implausable. Being nice to other countries doesn't mean they aren't Invaders.
greenizdabest@reddit
Russian plane go fuck yourselves
sarlatan747@reddit
Soooo this is just straight up terrorism, they destroyed a firefighting aircraft
ExoticBeginning4006@reddit
Sad but necessary
Zorgtest@reddit
It’s their revenge for blowing up the last AN-225
Ok_Pin_4554@reddit
Mriya apparently was destroyed by Ukrainian shelling of Russian forces stationed nearby.
non-of-the-above@reddit
Revenge to themselves?
Stoked_Otter@reddit
I guess we just cheer on terrorism now?
Pixel91@reddit
No, we cheer when terrorism is fought, like in this case.
Stoked_Otter@reddit
That's not a military target. Attacking civilian infrastructure is terrorism.
Pixel91@reddit
A Russian Air Force plane is civilian infrastructure?
Stoked_Otter@reddit
It's a firefighting aircraft. But you knew that, you just support terrorism.
Pixel91@reddit
It isn't. It has that capability, but it's primarily a maritime patrol aircraft. If we go by what it COULD do, no cargo aircraft or transport helicopter would be a valid target, which is just silly.
It's not like they blew up an airliner.
Stoked_Otter@reddit
"Hamas is hiding in the basement of the children's hospital"
Pixel91@reddit
Well there's no hospital hidden in a military plane. But you do you, vatnik, we're done here. (not to mention you rather not talk about who's actually bombing hospitals in Ukraine, hm?)
Stoked_Otter@reddit
Oh I've heard all that you would have to say on that topic, I'm sure the Russians really do have glowing red eyes and are cannibals. Meanwhile a whole generation of Ukrainian men are gone, and their widows and orphans will end up giving away more land than they would have if they had accepted the 2022 offer.
radix2@reddit
I know this is a sub about physical aircraft, but I'm damned if I will feel any regret for the loss of a machine that Russians use to murder civilians.
Azzagtot@reddit
Hope next time your country have a forest fire, your house will burn down.
At least it won't be saved by evil firefighter plane.
radix2@reddit
MH17 you cunt.
Dr_Diktor@reddit
It wasn't, they are used to put out forest fires and disaster aid. Sure, you can use it for troop movement and airborne missions, but so can commercial aircraft, does this mean Ukraine should go ahead destroying those?
non-of-the-above@reddit
Murder with water?
radix2@reddit
Are you saying the aircraft offers no support for the Russian invasion at all? Even transporting weapons, combatants or intelligence is resulting in civilians being murdered.
non-of-the-above@reddit
You can ask Turks if you want to know what this aircraft is used for. They see them regularly for years.
HorizonSniper@reddit
This is.... A SAR aircraft. Literally. It can fit 8 dudes and a boat lmao
Intergalatic_Baker@reddit
Is there any way of working out what the colour scheme was?
I know you might call me silly cause it’s black and white, I know, but there is a military one that recently got intercepted transiting the Baltic Sea by the Baltic air patrol like 2-3 months ago and it was in a blue underside and dark grey top colour.
If that one was destroyed, it’s a military target. But yeah, there’s also the Ministry of Emergency ones in White that can be water bomber aircraft.
Dr_Diktor@reddit
Since it's stationary and undefended, most likely water bomber. But hey, you are thinking too much! You should just cheer for another Ukrainian victory!
NicholasWildeRails@reddit
Payback for Mriya, I guess
Meesikapp@reddit
Сравнил жопу с пальцем, приятель
mihor@reddit
Mriya was bombed by Ukraine, tho.
non-of-the-above@reddit
Then, it should be Russia to tear down that aircraft. Mriya has been shot by the Ukrainian artillery during their tries to recapture the site.
RandoDude124@reddit
Amen
Thetmes@reddit
This is exactly what I came here to say. Poor magnificent planes nevertheless.
filtarukk@reddit
What a beautiful engineering marvel. Too bad it was destroyed. Barbarians.
bobbobersin@reddit
Is it like ASW or like a tanker? AWACS? Transport? Bomber?!?
non-of-the-above@reddit
Firefighers.
Fruitmidget@reddit
And maritime patrol
thememorableusername@reddit
It's sad when good planes to be put down because of their bad owners.
Tracerz2Much@reddit
I don’t think I could handle watching another Iranian F-14 explode.
Weary-Astronaut1335@reddit
Destroying Iranian F-14s is the equivalent of putting down a sick dog. Were those F-14s really living a happy life after all this time cannabilizing parts?
Stoked_Otter@reddit
If they had just survived another few months they could have been rebuilt with new parts available to Iran after the sanctions are dropped as part of the deal to open the strait. Since it can't be opened with military force.
Weary-Astronaut1335@reddit
Would that deal involve Northrop Grumman recreating the tooling for new parts since the method to make new stuff was destroyed along with every spare air frame?
Stoked_Otter@reddit
Sure anything is possible with enough money and time.
Ornery_Year_9870@reddit
Weird sense of equivalence. An F-14 can be neither happy nor sad. It's a machine, not a dog.
BoarHide@reddit
Don’t worry, you probably won’t have to. I don’t think they have any left
UrethralExplorer@reddit
As Ekans said "No bad Pokémon, only bad masters."
Desi0190@reddit
It’s being used in a modern genocide, so cool or not it’s got to go unfortunately
non-of-the-above@reddit
No BE-200 were used in Gaza.
Desi0190@reddit
Russia is actively committing genocide in Ukraine. Undeniably. No one mentioned Gaza.
non-of-the-above@reddit
Not interested in any propaganda.
Desi0190@reddit
That’s not propaganda, that’s the official statement of 59 countries, the ICC, the UN and Russia
non-of-the-above@reddit
"official statement of ... the ICC, the UN and Russia" is that "Russia is actively committing genocide in Ukraine"? Wow. Have i missed something?
Desi0190@reddit
They’ve openly stated they plan to erase the Ukrainian identity. They’ve admitted to kidnapping 20,000 Ukrainian children and forcing them into Russian foster homes. That’s genocide
non-of-the-above@reddit
That's your interpretation. There are millions of Ukrainians in Russia, both Russian citizens and refugees. I don't think they would have come if they thought they were in any danger there. Moreover, Russia has accepted more refugees from Ukraine than any other country. I wonder why this is? Why do people from Ukraine try to enter Russia even knowing they will be scrutinized at the border and many will be banned for years? Entire social media communities have even been created where people share information on legally crossing the Russian border (https://vk.com/russia_ukraine_graniza). A really unorthodox genocide.
ArgumentAny4365@reddit
Cool, let's destroy the rest of 'em.
Fuck Russia.
Ok_Pin_4554@reddit
That was a good and in a way unique plane. Sad to see it gone.
Considering comments wonder if similar sentiment should be directed towards any other planes in use? F-15's for example?
REALITY_CZECH2@reddit

Illustrious-Run3591@reddit
I hate war. The loss of irreplacable technology and architecture and archaeology is a loss for everyone on earth.
SoftLikeABear@reddit
Um, I think the lost lives are rather more irreplaceable.
suspendmeforthis@reddit
There's 8 billion people on earth. Even if you're 1 in a million there's still 8k people just like you. By some estimates we have reached dry carbon parity with ants ffs. Reach human life has value but en mass maybe less so.
komiszar@reddit
Why couldn't we build more of this plane? How could a machine, that isn't necesery be more valuable than a life? It's a novelty for sure, but show me some who is a clone of. You can replicate the plane but not the humans.
suspendmeforthis@reddit
I was in no way comparing people to objects, just pointing out that people are deeply replaceable.
komiszar@reddit
But a plane is much more. That's my whole point
suspendmeforthis@reddit
Certain planes are replaceable others are irreplaceable. Old technology often cannot be recreated because it depended on other lost technologies. Either way they are a ludicrous number of human beings on this earth and they are fucking it up.
komiszar@reddit
Not lost, just not maintained. We could make it for a fuck ton of money to build out the infrastructure or build a new solution
suspendmeforthis@reddit
Many people who care a great deal say the Saturn V F1 engines would be impossible to recreate. Antonov An-225 Mriya is irreplaceable. The Spruce Goose is irreplaceable because that quality of tree is no longer available.
Illustrious-Run3591@reddit

abvgdsdg@reddit
Quick everyone join the mob mentality and downvote this guy! Dude just said he’s not an enemy of Russia it’s not that serious fellas. If we follow this same logic are we now not allowed to like the ME-262, ME-163, Horten Ho-229, etc? A lot of the best/weirdest aircraft come from questionable regimes that’s just how it goes. It’s almost like they were made to kill people or something.
Zcube73@reddit
well said bro.. I don't know what's wrong with people these days I'm literally being neutral when it comes to war. i just love aircraft regardless of which country they're from..

dsaddons@reddit
Pot calling the kettle black when the majority of aviation subs are Americans of all fuckin people. Let's see...
Barnaouo@reddit
Can say the same about any country like the US for exemple. So can we share any US weird wings and then talk about how the US is doing warcrimes? Why always talking about politics everywhere?
TurnoverMysterious64@reddit
The scale of Russia’s war crimes is unlike anything we’ve seen from any major power in decades. The false equivalency here is incredible.
Both the Germans and the English committed war crimes during WWII, but to put them in the same boat would be an outright lie. Russia’s actions in Ukraine aren’t quite to Nazi Germany’s level, but it’s not for lack of trying. Russia planned on Nazi-level war crimes from the beginning too, as demonstrated by the mobile cremation units they sent in with the initial invasion force.
Thechlebek@reddit
because it's a snippet from a fucking war dude, and wars tend to be political. Absolute shocker.
Please don't hit me with the Le i am not political russian bullshit, I've seen enough of that coming from Moscow or Petersburg.

Russia still has an aircraft carrier as wel.
It might not have sailed since december 2016, took part in one combat operation in it's whole lifespan.. during which it lost 2 planes because of arresting cables failing.

good lord, what a neocon/neolib (neofascist) and banderite cesspool reddit is in parts. Where were you guys when the east of Ukraine got shelled for 8 years ? Where were you when Iraq, Iran, Syria, Libya, Gaza, Ukraine, etc. got bombed, invaded , couped, etc. ? Dont get me wrong, the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine was illegal but so was the 2014 western sponsored coup that some people just conveniently want to ignore. This behavior just shows that lots of people dont genuinely care about international law , rules or norms. It is OK when we do it , right ? Reduced to tribalism, they just want to root for the team they like, good or bad.

Before cheering up about this just realize that lots of people, not even Russian, will die in a very cruel and painful way because of that. This very summer and later.
Be-200 is primarily a firefighting plane, and Russia been using it actively to help any troubled neigbours - Turkey, Cyprus and so on. Even "NAVY-colored" ones are firefighters, as you can see:
