3060 Ti to 6800 XT or 9060 XT 16 GB (as well as other build upgrades)

I was planning on selling my 3060 ti and upgrade to one of these cards, the 6800 XT or 9060 XT 16 GB. I really want to upgrade to 16 GB as I am beginning to play more graphically demanding games like Cyberpunk 2077, Witcher 3 (Old, but good game), Ghost of Tsushima, Final Fantasy 7, and etc. That would also mean that I would have to upgrade my DDR3 build, and I am thinking of using my i5 12400 my friend gave me. The only problem is that I would have to buy a motherboard (though I already have RAM, storage, an AIO cooler, and a 750w PSU) for LGA 1700, but I was really thinking of going AM4. I have a 1440p 2k monitor, so I would like to hit 1440p 60 fps in most of my games. Would the i5 12400 be sufficient, or should I go and get an AM4 motherboard and cpu instead? Should I buy the 6800 xt or 9060 xt?

The 12400 is sufficient for sure, and offers more future upgradeability than an AM4 system. The 9060XT 16 GB is the better choice of GPU here, it's slightly less powerful but has more advanced features. Only get the 6800XT if you can get it for well under $400.

9060XT is only a bit slower but has FSR4 (even when the 6000 series gets it, it isn't the "real" version technically cause it doesn't have the full hardware support) and lower power demand as well as ray tracing support that's actually on par with Nvidia which coming from a 6700XT myself and you coming from a Nvidia card, you're not going to be doing RT on this thing. It also has other upgrades that I don't even remember but it's two generations ahead.
Just get the 9060XT. Also, I have a 5600 which is basically the same performance as that CPU and I have a 5060 TI 16 GB which is also basically the same performance as the GPU, and I can run any game at 1440p60 with high settings with DLSS (FSR in your case obviously), no problem.

I max out Cyberpunk 2077 with my 9060xt 16gb on 1080p. Ultra settings, ultra RT, FSR4, FG

Get the 9060XT with the 12400, nothing on the am4 side will be significantly better unless you get an AM4 X3D cpu which are not worth it due to their cost.
What type of ram do u have, cause LGA1700 can use both depending on which board you buy, ddr4 or 5.
1440P 60FPS should not be an issue with the 12400 and 9060XT.
