Noob question, should I upgrade my CPU for a new GPU?

I'm thinking of getting either a 3060ti or a 5050, haven't decided yet, but I was wondering, before I do any of that, should I upgrade my PC's CPU? Here's what I have for my specs.
Processor 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-12100F (3.30 GHz)
Installed RAM 32.0 GB (31.8 GB usable)
Graphics card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 (4 GB)
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

please don’t get a 5050. find a good used deal or take the 3060ti. then save up and upgrade your cpu soon, but it should be fine with the 3070s and such until you get something newer

Yeah, I think that may be the play here. I'm gonna try and go for a 3070 and then worry about the CPU later.

good choice imo. doesn’t have to be the 3070 of course, just something similar that gives some really good value and doesn’t break the bank, the 30 series has been that kinda generation lately

No worries there, that CPU is well suited for those cards. Though you should consider upgrading it on general principle, there's far better ones for that platform, Also, some modern games ask for a 6-core CPU and your i3 is only 4-core, so consider upgrading to at least a 12400F as the cheapest option, or a 14600KF as a significant upgrade though at almost double the price.
As for the card, the 3060Ti is somewhat faster than the 5050, and for the price of a new 5050 you can get a used 3070 which is *much* faster.

If you can get a 12600k that would be a good upgrade to go with the RTX 5050, only because it's similar in performance but has the newer Nvidia features.
