I played softball with my 20 plus year old kids and their friends. I’m scared to goto sleep. I’m 52 and I’m already sore. Haha 5 shots of Buffalo Trace and 2 Aleve. I’m gonna risk it but not looking forward to waking up.

Too old for this too young to have sense.

Just know that delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) is a thing. Day three or four might be worse. You’re welcome

Lol. I had a proud papa moment last week. Still play competitive fast pitch softball in a solid league with mostly younger guys and hold my own. We were shorthanded and my 14yo daughter played with us and was awesome! Never thought I would get to share the field with one of my kids. So awesome!

Welp, time to take you out back.

Edibles my friend. Edibles.

Some of us would be fighting to keep a job if popped for a “random.” I agree about the long term health effects, but looking for a new employer after 50 isn’t usually in anyone’s best interest.

I'm a chef in a legal state. It's better than ibuprofen

Ive been in the same Sunday summer beer league for about 25 years. Used to play with friends and now some of their older kids are on the team. Now I’m the old guy on the team who gets big cheers if I go 1st to 3rd on a single, only plays 1st, catcher, or the occasional left-handed 2nd base.

Combining alcohol and aleve is a great way to get stomach bleeding and / or ulcers.

Better choice than Tylenol (acetaminophen/paracetemol) and liquor-risking liver damage.

But I betcha’ had a blast! It’s all worth it. Epson salt bath.

Does no one here stay active? Damn

We're the same age and my advice is to embrace it. My kids are in their late 20s and we've gone to concerts and done the mosh pit. Next day is the worst, but you just accept that the next day is going to suck. A good massage afterwards, a good stretch in the morning and just take it easy. You should be fine by lunchtime.

Epsom Salt bath soaks. And a foam roller. Trust me.

Hot shower. Stretch... stretch! Less meat/dairy and more dark greens during recovery. Hydrate and electrolytes... More stretches upcoming...

I played hockey this Wednesday. Full ice. I was the second oldest there- 47. Today, there were not as many skaters for full ice, so we did half ice. And feel great.

Oh my. Don't forget to stretch before bed. Also, if you remember, day 2 is always worse.

This is true! I call it "the day after the day after".
Cleopatrashouseboy@reddit
You could try a colder bath.

Don’t pursue the homesteading dream

Hit the foam roller, not the booze.

50 here, coaching or umpiring baseball 5 or 6 nights a week and playing 50+ softball this year, 1st time ive played since i stopped playing baseball 15 years ago. You would feel better tomorrow if that was 5 bong hits and a hot shower instead...

Tried to play soccer with my sons and 2 minutes in hurt my hip kicking the ball. Sad and embarrassing. Couldn’t walk normal for like 2 weeks.
Ruby__Ruby_Roo@reddit
Its the buffalo trace that’s gonna fuck you up tomorrow. Not even talking about a hangover. Whatever repair your muscles need to do is going to be thwarted by the booze and the way it fucks up a person’s deep sleep cycle, which is when we produce human growth hormone.
Good luck.
Insightseekertoo@reddit
I feel you. I mean we have a psychic connection and will have empathy all day tomorrow with you.
