Fixed prisms for AR

Right now I’m using an LPVO, but have found that I really only use 1x or 6x
Got me wondering if something like a 5x prism and a top dot might make more sense.
Any recommendations for a 5x prism? I know primary arm is popular but want to know what other good options are out there.
Sub $600 would be cool

congratulations. you have invented the ACOG + RMR of 20 years ago.

I mean.. I was aware it existed, now I’m aware why it makes sense.

That’s....not really true.
We didn't have LPVOs back then like we do today. Militaries all over the world are adopting LPVOs in droves because it's better. Optics manufacturing is way better now, first focal plane reticles aren't crazy expensive anymore, and scopes are getting smaller and lighter.
If you don't use the value of an LPVO because of the way you shoot, that's fine; some people have a simple shooting process and just don't need the additional functions of an LPVO. But just know you are taking a step back, not a step forward.

It’s all compromises. Prism and dot, magnifier and dot, and LPVOs are all different forks in the same road that excel at different aspects of the same tasks.
LPVOs are better at clarity at the high end of the magnification range, with better overall light transmission, but pay for that with weight and field of view.
Dot+magnifier trades reticle granularity for a massive field of view and lack of parallax in close, while still having weights similar to LPVOs
Prism and dot emphasizes speed of transition and usually some weight savings for a lower maximum magnification and wider FoV.
Each has a place, the real question is “what are you expecting to do with this weapon” and pick accordingly.

I use the 1x prism on my fixed iron AR and the 2x prism on my x95 from Primary Arms. Much prefer the 2x, excellent optic. I can see perfectly through the 2x without my prescription glasses. I’m sure their higher magnification ones are also just as good

Yeah my guy the vortex 5x micro prism is a solid option too. I have one on a BCM 14.5” and it’s a really good fit
Lightweight, direct mount optics (kinda stuck with vortex optics but there’s adapter plates for other footprints), decent reticle with a fine center dot, and it weighs like 1/2 of what some LPVOs do
I personally like the vortex better because of the dot aiming point. It’s probably just me but I could never get behind the chevron especially at like 300ish it starts to get in the way
