Mine is Boys of Summer by Don Henley. It reminds me of going to the beach for summer vacation in Florida. Close second is Silent Running by Mike + The Mechanics that was played at the local skating rink a lot.

A-Ha - Take on Me and Tears for Fears - Everybody Wants To Rule The World. 2 songs that always take me back to my childhood in the 80s.

Boys of Summer is a good one. My dad loved Don Henley so he was on a lot.
I’m gonna go “Walking in Memphis.” It still gives me chills.

I used to listen to Marc Cohn with my dad all the time. He toured a couple years ago and I brought my dad, it was fantastic.

This is hard with so many favorites that take me back to a simpler time.
I’ll have to pick Don’t Dream it’s Over by Crowded House. I’ve listened to that album more times than I can count.
But I must admit… my first thought from the prompt was Eat It by Weird Al. His album “In 3D” was given to me on cassette from my best friend on my birthday. It delights me that Weird Al continued to make such great music throughout my life

The big ones for me were "Jump for My Love" by The Pointer Sisters, "We Don't Need Another Hero" by Tina Turner, and "The Power of Love" by Hury Lewis and the News.

When I was in pre school I was obsessed with Eddie Rabbit’s ‘I Love a Rainy Night.’ I bought the 45 for that with bday money. Even brought it in for show and tell. I still like that song

Me too! That used to play on the radio station I would listen to at night on my magnavox boom box. My first official cassette tape was Alanna Miles Black Velvet. Got it for Christmas

Songs I can specifically remember, tied to my childhood were
The Look- Roxette She Drives Me Crazy-Fine Young Cannibals
My dad listened to a lot of Bob Seger and Conway Twitty, but I didn't enjoy it lol

Fine Young Cannibals….yes for sure. I just won a contest the other day by guessing the song She Drives Me Crazy

I‘m not sure I can pick just one, I have all kinds of songs to get me on all kinds of moods. I have playlists that remind me of my Mum doing housework on the weekend (Tina Turner, Billy Joel, Paul Young...), roadtrips with my Dad (Rod Stewart, T. Rex, America...), 80s nu wave (Yaz, Thompson Twins, New Order...), youth club discos (2Unlimited, Dee-Lite, Snap!), my teen Britpop days (Oasis, Pulp, The Boo Radleys...).
Yeah, lots of favorites.

Me too! I guess if I had to whittle it down to a couple those would be it. Specific memories. Love all the bands you listed :)

"Gyro Gearloose" from Disney's Splashdance album. Quite a few bangers on that one tbh.
joshhupp@reddit
I still find myself just vibing to Hold Me Now by Thompson Twins. The bass line, the lyrics, the falsetto at the end. Perfectly encapsulates the 80s for me.

I remember "You Might Think" by the Cars and "Wild Wild Life" by Talking Heads being my favorite songs when I was a kid. Also I get really nostalgic when I hear John Cougar Mellencamp.
