it’s really nuts there are people out there who are stupid enough to flash an aircraft
ohlookahipster@reddit
I remember a few years back I was downvoted to hell for calling this out as stupid. The smooth brains who defended it said something like “people are bored leave them alone.”
Thank god these same smoothies don’t frequent aviation subs.

I agree!

Might be hard to pinpoint the exact neighborhood/intersection from FL100 but I'm glad the effort is there. I hope the culprit is identified.

I would think if you knew the flight path you would know the general area. From there you could do an overlay of a city map, scaled for size/angle relative to the picture. I think you'd be able to come up with a pretty solid location doing that.

I have no clue what im talking about, but id guess within a 10 square block area.
Foggl3@reddit
It depends on how dumb you are

I'm going to guess a lot tighter than that based on the size of the houses/buildings near it. Maybe within 20 feet?

Flight # would do us wonders here but judging by other departures and your posting time, this is probably either somewhere around Lawrence or Framingham… trying to use the shopping plaza up top to narrow it down but no luck yet
BarefootedHuman@reddit (OP)
Sorry. Delta 1513 around 20:52
Afitz93@reddit
Oh wow I was off, I didn’t see any departures going south but I think I kinda narrowed it down. 90% sure this is Canton MA, looks like it might be coming out of the Greenbrook Apt complex. I’m sure the govt will be able to narrow it down fast but I like the geography challenge lol.

You may or may not be surprised how often incidents like this are able to be pinpointed to an exact address.
BarefootedHuman@reddit (OP)
Let’s hope so!

These motherfuckers. Got lasered coming back into PWK one night while training for my ppl. Fuck em
Kaffe-Mumriken@reddit
Can’t this fuck up your phone camera? I recall watching a video of some rave a dude is filming and the lasers are improperly installed and just roasts a line of pixels mid filming
BarefootedHuman@reddit (OP)
Oh my! I hope not for me.
ThatGenericName2@reddit
At this distance (and with the types of lasers that an idiot that would do this would use) likely not.
While there is always risk of permanent injury especially as there definitely are lasers that can be powerful enough to eye damage, the primarily risk is that it prevents the pilot from seeing something in the environment that then causes an accident.
A_711_Hotdog@reddit
Wow, I'm not a laser expert but that seems incredibly bright for 10,000 ft.
BarefootedHuman@reddit (OP)
Yeah it was right around the FA announcement through 10,000
pattern_altitude@reddit
Happens pretty often.
BarefootedHuman@reddit (OP)
Yea, sadly!
