How does something like this compare to an Athlon Cronus BTR gen 2 UHD?

The MPED is usually compared to the Ares ETR. The Ares is generally considered to be a little better overall. I bought a used one a few months ago for $550 and it’s neck and neck with the MPED I tried at a PRS22 shoot. The MPED has really “pop”-py glass in terms of color rendition. Don’t know how else to describe it but it reminds me of looking through much pricier scopes (ZCO/Tangent). Warranty/CS on the Athlon is better and being a bigger scope overall it has some physical advantages iirc (eyebox, FOV, etc) but overall either is fantastic for the money

Cronus is better in most ways, especially glass quality and build quality. MPED might be a bit lighter. And depending on if you like locking turrets or not, the MPED might be better there too. Is the Cronus 2x better? Ehhh…maybe not. You can either get the Cronus and be really happy with it or get the MPED and have more money left over for ammo while getting probably equivalent results.

I'm sure I'm the exception. But last time I bought a "like new" demo from Eurooptic I got a scratched glass unit the first time AND the replacement was also scratched so I just returned it for a refund... And this was on an Eotech EXPS.

These are fantastic scopes. Started with one when I was first learning long range shooting and eventually moved on to a higher tier scope but still wish I would have never sold my Match Pro. These things perform up there with the $1k~ scopes easy. Looks like they also have the MIL version in stock for $559.
