Apparently Forza does not run on 1080ti, what is my budget option?

I dont game on pc usually, just want to play FH6 and use my pc for administration beyond that. Besides waiting for it to launch on ps5, whats my cheapest option to play the game? Looks like it requires turing architecture instead of pascal.
number8888@reddit
1080Ti is out of support so it’s not getting driver update from Nvidia. Doesn’t mean it can’t run the game.
Mind_State1988@reddit (OP)
See the link Ive posted on a couple comments. Apparently the pascal architecture seems to be the issue.

The cheapest GPU over 8 GB I can think of is the RX 6700XT so that's a decent, not too expensive upgrade.
EmuAreExtiinct@reddit
Its not a huge performance upgrade though, i would rather find a used 3080 ti/12g model or 4070
Mravac_Kid@reddit
Sure, it's just a 20-25% increase, but those two are *significantly* more expensive. You can get a 6700XT for about $220 while the 3080Ti and 4070 tend to go for well over $400 (or even 450).
cubanohermano@reddit
I’ve seen 3080 non ti go for 250. Might be worth a look for OP
Mravac_Kid@reddit
Yeah, for that price that's an excellent choice, I just never saw one below 330 or so.
EmuAreExtiinct@reddit
I think thats worth it for the performance increase imo
Mravac_Kid@reddit
That's getting awfully near the pricing of the newest generation of cards, and depending on the system it's going to be used in might not be worth it. And especially as the OP says it's just for FH6 and as cheap as possible, there's simply no reason to spend that much.
KalynnCampbell@reddit
It was their FLAGSHIP CARD when Forza Horizon 3 was out…
…and the game engine HAS NOT CHANGED SINCE HORIZON 3. If anything it’s only gotten more optimized.
Same game engine, different maps, if it can run 3, it can also run 4 and 5 (and it does) and will certainly be able to run 6
Because I guarantee you, 6 will be the same game as the last three in the series, simply with a different map, new reflections, and progressively worse mechanics (bye Forzathon! We miss you… and all the other features that get progressively worse everytime they make a new map for this decade old game)
a_guy_1377@reddit
FH6 and Motorsport 2023 are not on the same engine as those previous games
Mind_State1988@reddit (OP)
The architecture seems to be the issue, game keeps crashing. Its also out of support so might be missing some drivers. I get it, the card is 9yrs old. Still worked fine for what I play on pc though (till now).
Plenty-Industries@reddit
Just wait until it releases on PS5.
SlightSurround5449@reddit
Are you from the future?
CosyBeluga@reddit
Cloud will be your cheapest option.
Cloud saves are free with Xbox and the game is confirmed as cross save.
Play on the cloud and then when the PS5 version comes out buy that version and continue your save.
SlightSurround5449@reddit
Updoot for answer.

Get XBOX ONE

You could try Geforce Now
Bichaelcycle@reddit
Yes it does. Even at 1440p its gets 70fps
Mind_State1988@reddit (OP)
I thought the 1080ti met the specs but just came across this so now Im scared of purchasing it; https://www.reddit.com/r/ForzaHorizon/s/r6puR5IgUH
CPOx@reddit
you can get a refund on steam within 2 hours
Leyzr@reddit
2 hours of playtime
2 weeks of ownership
As long as you have less than both of these, refunds are pretty much guaranteed.
BananaBreads@reddit
If you're not refunding a lot, they can also make exceptions :)
audigex@reddit
And even if you're just over 2 hours, they may still offer a refund if you have performance issues - it's just not as guaranteed/almost automatic
Eg if you can show there's a level after \~3 hours of gameplay that is more demanding than the first 2 hours, they'll still consider a refund if you can provide evidence of it
Bichaelcycle@reddit
Oh i see its not that the card cant run the game its cause it crashes on the older architecture
Mind_State1988@reddit (OP)
Yeah, seems to be. I havent bought the game yet, just did a final check people were able to play the game and came across a couple of these posts. I am willing to pay the price of the game till it comes to ps5, but if it isnt running well that is an issue..
AsManDoesManIs@reddit
God nvidia fucked up so bad when they made the 1080ti
Upstairs_Culture2217@reddit
Honestly 70fps is solid for 1080ti at 1440p. What settings are we talking about here? Low-medium I’m assuming? My pc is 1080ti with 5800x3d with 1440p monitor
TetePepeF@reddit
FH6 does run on the 1080ti.. have you not tried it yet?
Mind_State1988@reddit (OP)
I havent yet. I came across multiple posts like these while doing a clean install of w11 in anticipation of buying fh6: https://www.reddit.com/r/ForzaHorizon/s/r6puR5IgUH
TetePepeF@reddit
you know, i’m THINKING (legit just a theory i have no evidence other than shitty bug town) that windows 11 might be the problem in some stupid way, i’m asking the other post if they’re using windows 11 or 10
Mind_State1988@reddit (OP)
I actually JUST upgraded to w11 because my pc was a mess I havent uses in 2 yrs. Actually bypassing the TPM 2.0 requirement as well. I still have a w10 boot drive though so keep me updated.
TetePepeF@reddit
will do, cuz if i had to guess that would be my guess as to why it crashes but runs flawlessly otherwise. windows 11 is a little odd on the backend and maybe it’s tripping something up
Fredasa@reddit
Thank you for the umpteenth reminder never to install W11. I'll most likely be using SteamOS or something like it before I get overwhelmed with any desire to tap whatever W11 brings.
TetePepeF@reddit
w11 isn’t that bad but man is it messy
tarmo888@reddit
Upgrading to w11 is a mess and you might have problems because of that. Only way to have stable experience on w11 is clean install.
nokei@reddit
might be related to microsoft having problems with gpu drivers I saw in another post.
TetePepeF@reddit
that’s odd, the only thing i can really find on that, considering the 1050ti is also pascal and it runs just fine
sillyram11@reddit
I haven't had any luck getting the game to run well on my 1080ti on either Windows or Linux.
I did manage to get the game to run well enough to qualify yesterday (on Windows), however since unlocking the Evo, I've been met with a game crash as soon as the game loads in. I haven't been able to figure out a way around it.
Linux on my end is incredibly unstable. I *cannot* get past the opening sequence. Sometimes I'll crash a few seconds after getting control of the GTR, other times I'll crash right after completing the off-road snow section.
Sadly, Forza Horizon 6 does not support any of the Nvidia 10 series GPUs. Pascal has been phased out - Turing is the minimum supported architecture (Meaning you can play with the GTX 1650 onwards with support).
If you're running the game just fine on a 1080ti, I would love to know what your system specs, OS version, and whatever other information you might have to get your game running smoothly. It's been a pretty frustrating experience on my end.
ExpeditionItchyKnee@reddit
Naw will run sweet

2060 Super
No-Web1897@reddit
You need the nvidia 580 driver not 590
bakuonizzzz@reddit
It should if I recall Daniel Owen tried it with a 1060 and it was still running at 1060p at low with 60fps. So I can't see why yours shouldn't.
LifeIsOnTheWire@reddit
I’m currently playing FH6 on a 1070, and it’s playing around 100fps or more
losromans@reddit
Random thought on windows is that there was a recent April windows 11 update that has been causing quite a few graphical issues on games from artifacting and pixelation to full driver crashing and hard crashing.
Happened a ton just trying to load up twitch for a drop on chrome but worked fine in edge. Go figure.
But yeah, maybe a random issue there.
Not sure why the Linux one is having issues.
PM_ME_BLONDE_GIRLS_@reddit
I was watching a YouTube video benchmark on a 1060 so idk why it wouldn't run on a 1080ti.
Mind_State1988@reddit (OP)
Can you sent me a link? Havent bought the game but seems like architecture is the problem. See the link ive shared.
PM_ME_BLONDE_GIRLS_@reddit
Here you go
DestinysHand@reddit
Yes it does. I saw a video of someone benching the game and he even ran it on a 1060.
thelovebat@reddit
A 3060 TI would end up being a good option at around $200 give or take. Less Vram than the 1080 TI but really good memory bandwidth so it does really well when it isn't hitting any Vram limits.
Falconator100@reddit
It definitely can run on a 1080 TI. I saw someone run it on a GTX 1650 completely fine lmao.
Mind_State1988@reddit (OP)
1650 had turing architecture, which seems to be required. 1080ti uses pascal.
yick04@reddit
Cheapest option is probably Xbox Cloud through Game Pass assuming it's on there.
Mind_State1988@reddit (OP)
Im gonna try this when the game is out of early release and available on game pass.
_TeflonGr_@reddit
This makes no sense, the only change to Turing architecture (the next one) might be driver support or mesh shaders, but those won't prevent you from actually playing the game, just degrade performance.
So I would try it and refund if you can't, Steam has a 2h policy, but again, you should be able to play it on even older hardware unless the devs specifically checked for certain cards to prevent the game for launching.
kcpistol@reddit
Oh well, they don't need my money, and I don't need Forza
