Upgrade options with DDR4 ram
Posted by Just-Entertainer7933@reddit | buildapc | View on Reddit | 11 comments
I have 64GB (2 x 32GB) DDR4 RAM and 2 x 1TB SSDs. However, my cpu is pretty old at 9th gen i7 which now feels very slow for my work. I only do productivity work, no gaming. So, higher core count matters to me. I also have a rtx 3060.
Looking for suggestions:
With current DDR5 prices, I cannot afford a new build with ddr5.
What are my CPU and motherboard options to recyvle ddr4 rams and the 3060?
Budget < 800U$ (600$ is better)

14600k or 14700k.

Thanks!!
would you advise against 14900k?

The main issue with the 14900k is the price. It's another $100 more expensive, but only about 10% faster in the best case.

Any comment on 5950X?

The 5900XT is basically the same. Also 16 cores, just clocked slower. You can overclock it if you desire
