Is there anything more GenX than this in 2026?

For those of you who travel, I’m on my second trip with resmed air mini. It’s worth every penny not to have to find water or hand carry my CPAP through TSA.
Bright_Broccoli1844@reddit
Do you mean it doesn't need water?
Bright_Broccoli1844@reddit
I love my CPAP.

Best Gen X post I’ve seen in a while. We are all excited for you as well.
HatesDuckTape@reddit
I’ve had mine for about 5 years now. Before I got it, I’d wake up feeling like I had the worst hangover. Every morning. Did a sleep study at home during Covid lockdowns, and it showed about 70 sleep disturbances per hour.
I don’t feel hungover when I wake up anymore. I don’t feel all well rested and rejuvenated like it was some miracle thing, but I feel normal. Which is huge.
About a year after I got it, I forgot to bring it on a 3 day weekend trip. Worst sleep ever. Felt like shit all day every day. It definitely reminded me of what I felt like before.
I don’t snore at all at night. When I fall asleep on the couch, it’s a disaster lmfao. I wake myself up from my snoring.
CK_CoffeeCat@reddit
Same. If I fall asleep without it my brain is just wrecked. That frigging machine is a pain to get used to, but so so so worth it.
pagalvin@reddit
My experience is very similar to yours. A few times over the years, I travelled and screwed up. Forgot it once. Left the hose on bed another time. Left the power plug at home. It's such a mess sleeping without it.
Probably like all of us, I work a lot of hours, used to play hard. I just assumed that being constantly tired was normal. Best decision of my life was going through that sleep study and getting the machine.
HatesDuckTape@reddit
Mine came with a travel bag/case that has pictures of where everything fits. I’ve never forgotten a piece because of that, and probably only because of that.
I only forgot it that one time. It’s always the first thing that gets packed. I figure I can always buy clothes or anything else I forgot, but I can’t buy a CPAP lol.
Historical_Nail7271@reddit
70!!!! Holy shite! 🤯
HatesDuckTape@reddit
Yup
Few_Blackberry_1960@reddit
It’s like being water boarded with air.
tvieno@reddit
I could never adjust to it. I just learned to sleep on my side and stomach. I miss sleeping on my back.
ExistentialPenguin70@reddit
I’ve been on one for 20 years. Won’t sleep a night without it.
SynXis_ps2@reddit
Same. I know a lot of people struggle with it, but I can't sleep without it. It's definitely got some downsides but compared to struggling to breath all night they are nothing.
Spiritual_Sail_8969@reddit
The guy that came out and set my first one up gave me great advice. He wear it and watch movies, play video games for an entire weekend. Quickest way to get used to it. And he was right
ExistentialPenguin70@reddit
The first time I wore one in the sleep clinic I had so many insanely vivid dreams. I didn’t realize how poorly I was sleeping.
Historical_Nail7271@reddit
Just got mine. Three days and holy Crow 🐦⬛..... I feel human again. I was having 27.2 events in a hour.... No wonder I was always so damned tired!!!
Starbbhp@reddit
Think it’s worthwhile for only 12.7? I’ll probably try it because I’m so tired of being tired. I’m just wondering if it’ll even make a difference with only a mild OSA.
Historical_Nail7271@reddit
Totally worth a try. Normal is 2-4 / hour. 😁
johnnythemonk@reddit
27! Try 60+ lol. Crazy to think I was struggling every minute for who knows how long. Have had it a little over a year now and I go right to sleep and wake up 7 hours later.
mikewilkinsjr@reddit
Yeah, I didn’t realize how bad my sleep was until I registered an average of 65 events/hour during my sleep test. Three months in with my CPAP and I can’t believe I waited so long.
Ineffable2024@reddit
I love mine!
-Granby-@reddit
It's amazing.
I got mine about 3 months ago. So many people said it was hard to get used to. I had no problems with that. My sleep study showed I was having almost 40 events per hour. Now I average about 1.
What machine did you get? I got the Airsense 11. I recommend getting a memory card for it and downloading OSCAR. The app gives you a little info but OSCAR gives you a way more detailed picture. Lets you know what you should tweak.
I got mine set to ramp and pressure no higher than 10. I also use a climate line. I recommend that too.
ProductOdd533@reddit (OP)
I got a ResMed. Just got it today, so I still haven’t gotten into the details yet. When I get it set up tonight, I’ll connect it to the app on my phone. They didn’t say anything about a memory card.
My sleep study showed I was having 34 episodes per hour.
-Granby-@reddit
I know the ResMed Airsense 11 holds a memoy card. A standard SD. You don't have to use it. Without the memory card you can use the app to read your data every morning.
With the memory card you can use it to upload data into OSCAR for a more detailed view. It is not a must but it is nice, especially at the beginning so you can really track your shit and make adjustments.
Your clinic will tell you only they can make adjustments to your settings but that is not true. You can do it yourself. They just don't tell you how.
https://www.sleepfiles.com/OSCAR/
This shows you how to change your pressure settings. When you get it it will be set at a default. It will more than likely need some adjusting. I adjusted mine straight away. I had it set to go up to 12 but anything over 10 makes my cheeks puff out so I have it max at 10 with auto adjust. It starts at 4 for the ramp up and then adjust accordingly through the night. When I get up to pee I look and it is usually at about 7 but I left max at 10.

Thanks. Just checked, and it is the Airsense 11. I think the tech set it up per my doc’s prescription. Not sure what the numbers are right now.
jaeldi@reddit
Type 2 Diabetes?
ProductOdd533@reddit (OP)
Nope. Just bad sleep apnea.
Debbie_Dexter@reddit
I got mine over 20 years ago and if you can get through the adjustment, it's life changing
ProductOdd533@reddit (OP)
I’m actually looking forward to it. I’m hoping I’m not let down.
Debbie_Dexter@reddit
May you sleep your ass off in the coming days
Murky_Possibility_68@reddit
I gained ten pounds in four months and it didn't work on the problem I knew I had (night terrors).
Turns out sleep apena is yet another fun perimenopause symptoms and I had A LOT of events during the sleep study so here we are.
tampaforfun@reddit
I think it is better to lose weight and breathe better naturally. Most people with a cpap are obese. Eating right can correct that.
ProductOdd533@reddit (OP)
Well, I’m not obese, I run and exercise regularly and still have severe sleep apnea. Stop generalizing.
Cycoviking69@reddit
Same here. I have central sleep apnea which has nothing to do with being obese. My brain just wants to kill me so it "forgets" to send the signals to keep my breathing going.
Texy@reddit
I love mine. For ten years now it has helped me sleep. I can't sleep without it. It's my teddy bear, my security blanket
pagalvin@reddit
It changed my life, man. Best medical decision I made in my life.
Bubbly_Following7930@reddit
I hope it helps Mine keeps me breathing but I don't feel any better.
They-Call-Me-Taylor@reddit
Same. I don’t feel any more rested, but at least it stopped my snoring which my wife loves. Based on all the stuff I read prior to getting one, I was expecting to feel like a new person.
Bubbly_Following7930@reddit
I know, right! I know so many people, friends and in- laws, that said it works wonders for them.
mudshark698@reddit
I've been using one for about 20 years. Can't sleep without it.
Spiritual_Sail_8969@reddit
RIP Reggie White. He was the reason I got a sleep study done. My dad couldn't get used to his and stopped wearing it, his heart quit at 72 years old. RIP Dad.
tanhauser_gates_@reddit
It will extend your life.
CTurtleLvr@reddit
And your marriage!
PBRStreetgang1979@reddit
When it comes in and you start wearing it, don't forget to come back and tell us how many migs you're shooting down.
Mattmann1972@reddit
I feel like Tom Cruise every time I got to sleep. I even salute my wife and tell her good night Mother Goose!
CommentFool@reddit
I could never adapt to it. Tried a hundred times at all kinds of different settings. I now use a tongue restraining device like the Aveo. Way less intrusive and also stops my snoring
sanctimoniousfsck@reddit
Mine changed my life. Not an exaggeration.
pdx_mom@reddit
It definitely can. It did not for me. I didn't feel more rested or better in the morning. Got rid of it.
hernondo@reddit
For real. It’s a game changer.
CromulentPoint@reddit
My doctor threatened me with a CPAP. I wanted to avoid that so bad I lost about 50lbs and now I don’t snore anymore. I know that fix doesn’t apply to everybody, but it was good inspiration for me and ended up working out.
Eisernes@reddit
Life changing device.
MaximumJones@reddit
The Rolling Stones just did a remake of their hit song.
Not it's "Let's Spend the Night Together (Separate beds, need room for my CPAP)"
