Short of a catastrophic event like the power grid going down due to a massive solar event you cannot stop technological advances...even then it would be a matter of getting the grid back up and any damaged items repaired/replaced. I remember the panic when the Liberator 3D plans came out and governments (especially governments of western countries that have extreme gun control and some censorship) started sweating. What they failed to account for is that the people 3D printing stuff are not the problem. If they were the problem youd know about it by now.

Shhhh dont tell people

Banning the sale of ammunition & reloading materials would be trivial for an anti-gun government. That is the ultimate goal of cold-blooded creatures funding everytown and other lobbies. You should constantly buy bulk ammo for posterity.

That's went we go to aluminum power and iron oxide, or fertilizer and diesel fuel. Or arrows smeared with feces. No one wants a cross bow bolt smeared with feces in their body.

You should really delete this for your own liability. Otherwise it's fedposting lmao.

Is metal 3dp still a no go
GrinderMonkey@reddit
Using 3d printing to facilitate metal manufacturing is not, though.

So it's cool and all that people are building guns and making it harder to restrict access. But what bugs me about these sorts of posts seem to miss the point that a lot of DIY gun building is pretty heavily reliant on the fact that the 'firearm' part of a gun is often relatively easy to make. This whole process becomes a lot harder if pressure bearing components were regulated as elsewhere.
I think increased regulation could be quite effective at slowing/stopping people from getting guns they'd use for legitimate purposes, self defense, target shooting, hunting etc. Those all require quality parts for durability and usability. But saturday night specials and assassination weapons would remain basically unstoppable. For example, the gun used to kill Shinzo Abe. I don't think people would really shoot that for fun, hunting or clays or something. Ok, the people on this sub would, but gunnietrust folks are... special. But that sort of weapon, quick and dirty, good for a few rounds at close range. Totally impossible to stop people.

Correct, like here in europe, everything gun related is serialised and listed as a part of which you would need to own the proper documentation for or re-apply for the permits ( i.e. new barrel, slide etc )
Besides that restraining ammunition to the permits one holds.. it isnt undo-able, but surely its stopping in the moment buys and weird shit happening afterwards.

SCS Mac uppers existence is a huge leap forward, can't wait to see the next one
TresCeroOdio@reddit
Which project uses a full SCS mac upper? They’ve alway been relatively easy to make at home but the idea of SCSing one seems sick
