What happens during whiplash claims?
Posted by Desperate-Drawer-572@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 12 comments
Some woman rammed into back of my car few months back. I have had pain since. Her insurance today have admitted fault but have said causation. My insurance have said I need to go for medical check.
What exactly happens next?

Its has never happened to me but I have heard people say that if someone rear end you, you should act as if you have been paralysed to ensure you get taken to hospital by ambulance. Then lay it on thick to your doctor that you are in contrast pain. Back pain and damage caused from whiplash is notoriously hard to disprove.

That old chestnut. Whiplash claims are paid on a tarriff these days, for the time and effort you'd have to put in for a fraudulent claim you could genuinely earn more just working a legal minimum wage job.

It’s early doors but I think this will be the most ridiculous thing I’ll read today.

usually the medical check is to confirm your injuries and connect them to the accident. after that, the reports are reviewed by the insurance companies and they decide what compensation or support you may receive

I had it once. Could only explain it as. A red hot poker was In between my shoulders. Couldn’t look left or right without moving my whole mid section. Quite agonising.

I had whiplash a few times. I the past I've always gone via a solicitor who sorted the medical out. 20 mins ish with a consultant asking what you can or can't do, when does it hurt etc. and physio if needed. Once thats done if you are claiming personal injuries the solitor will sort that, send you are form asking how it's affected day to.day life etc

Whiplash claims have been tightened up. The payments go by how long you've had symptoms and this needs to be backed up by medical records. For short term issues, the payment is pretty small. But yeah, you would need to go for any medicals and see what they say.

You go to a medical check. You either get claim paid or denied.
