First let me say I’m not looking for a GPU like 4070 ti it’s too expensive for my

As I said 4070ti is too expensive for me and from the research I have done I can get a RX 7800xt 16GB or a 4060 and have a good amount of money left for CPU
So what should I go for and I should mention that I’m going to be playing games like black myth wukong, RE9, elden ring, RDR2, cyberpunk 2077 and…
And I would appreciate it if you guys stick the a 500 ish
And if you have an CPU recommendations in the 400 ish please tell me
(I’m not looking for 4k at max 1440p)
A concern I have is that from what I have heard the AMD GPU’s are not good with ray tracing is it the same with RX 7800xt?
(Sorry for all the questions)
Leo9991@reddit
What's the budget for the whole build?
LazLazAR@reddit (OP)
Psu is an 885 Ram going for a 32 ddr4 Budget I’m trying to keep at 800 dollars for the CPU and GPU
Leo9991@reddit
885 what? If you're going with ddr4 you could spend around 150-200 on the CPU and you'll have more to spend on the GPU.
LazLazAR@reddit (OP)
885watts
Leo9991@reddit
I have never seen a 885 watt PSU. What model is it?
LazLazAR@reddit (OP)
It’s green
Leo9991@reddit
Are you even sure it can be used with modern parts?
LazLazAR@reddit (OP)
As far as I know yes
Squishy_singer@reddit
Yes the 7800xt is not great at ray tracing. It can kind of do it but also ray tracing is still overrated and in its infancy. Unless you wanna play all the new AAA games at max graphics for the next 5 years the 7800xt is an absolute beast of a card at 1440p. and with FSR4 it will be good for years to come. I’m still rocking my 6700xt and got no plans of upgrading in the next year or two
LazLazAR@reddit (OP)
Thanks for comment The only reason I mention ray tracing was for cyberpunk 2077
dertechie@reddit
Ray tracing on AMD improved rather rapidly but it still took like three generations to get to the point where it’s viable. The software is still catching up for some features.
The 6000 series was the first to enable it at all, the 7000 series significantly reduced the performance penalty but I wouldn’t call RT really viable on demanding titles on RDNA 3. Maybe with FSR 4.1. RDNA 4 (9000 series) is where it starts to look actually viable.
Full path tracing is effectively an NVidia exclusive until AMD gets FSR Redstone implemented and devs start including it in engines.
There’s a lot to be said for shifting a bit of your budget from CPU to GPU. Chips like the 7800X3D, 9600X/9700X or 250K/270K Plus all come in well below 400 USD, while the 5070 and 9070 are both at about 630 USD for the cheaper models. A 9600X or 250K Plus + a 5070/9070 sits well within your combined 900 USD CPU +GPU budget.

Sorry if I’m wrong but wouldn’t a 9700x bottleneck the 5070?
dertechie@reddit
No. Not in practice unless you’re playing esports titles at 1080p Low or something.
Lemme go find that HardwareCanucks video. . .
Adventurous_Chef7241@reddit
You can get a 5070, its a bit over your budget (im assuming usd) but it will give good performance in all titles. You can also get a ryzen 7 7800x3d, it's a bit lower than 400 usd. (I looked at prices in newegg). Please correct me if i got the currency wrong..
boshbosh92@reddit
A 5070 and a 7800x3d would make for a banger pc.
fnord55@reddit
Am using 7800x3d and a 5070... unbelievably fast, absolutely love it. Worth saving a little bit and going that route, it's a wonderful combo.
LazLazAR@reddit (OP)
I was looking at the same CPU but I’m not sure how bad the bottlenecking would be with the RX 7800xt that I’ll probably be going with And about the 5070 I really can not go any higher than the 500 dollar range
AyeYoItsPatrick@reddit
Honestly I’d say fuck the $400 CPU budget and throw that into the GPU, especially for the games you’re looking to play. You could save quite a bit of money and even go AM4/DDR4 like the Ryzen 5000 series and put the money towards a 9070XT or 5070ti.
SignalMagician1163@reddit
I second this, OP can definitely get something like an rtx 5060 or 9060xt.
Diligent_Winter_1841@reddit
Man you can get an rtx 4070 for a good price look Look an rtx 4070 super for $490

As for me, I use a 4060ti 8GB and I mainly play at 1440p. In my opinion, I regret buying the 4060ti; I should have bought a 4070ti instead.
But if you play at 1080p, the 4060 should be sufficient.
As for the RX7800xt, I can't comment; I've never used it.
yeet_suace@reddit
AMD cards don’t ray trace as well, and FSR is just a tad behind DLSS, but AMD absolutely dominates raw power for the price. The 7800XT outperforms the 4060, and has twice the VRAM. No brainer in my mind.
