Have you ever escaped your home town/city because of drama?

How was it?
What happened?
Would you ever go back?

I'm in the process of trying to escape. There wasn't any family or interpersonal drama per-se but last year our are became a hotspot for roundabout painters and flag lampposters. The breaking point was when I overheard an unassuming old couple in tesco talk about voting for advance UK. I'm white but I just didn't feel safe here anymore.
Issue is that if you're a young working class individual in the current economic climate you don't really get to escape your miserable hometown, how are you supposed to build up the money to do it let alone find a decent job in any of the cities worth living in?
