Slightly busted a delta

As the title reads, today I went flying and accidentally skimmed the top of a delta by about 20-40 feet. I got my private 3 weeks ago and today was my first time flying since. I had been to the airport I was going to before many times and just got complacent and didn’t check the airspace on my route since I thought I had it memorized. I got about a quarter of a mile in laterally before realizing. after realizing I climbed about 400 feet and stayed out of the lateral dimensions completely. If anyone’s wondering, it was a flight school aircraft and I was never once on frequency with that delta. Any advice of what I should do or knowledge of what I can expect to happen would be greatly appreciated.

File a NASA but you’re almost surely fine as both their equipment and yours is not that sensitive (your altimeter could be off by 75 ft)
The bigger issue here is that you should use flight following always. They will usually warn you before you bust airspace, although in the case of a delta you’d be fine by virtue of speaking to them.

Yeah, “slightly” doesn’t work here. You did or you didn’t. Which is it?
If you did, file the NASA report and move in.
Did you get a number to call? Call the number.
If no one contacted you on freq about it, then file the report, debrief yourself, don’t do it again (IT CAN HAPPEN TO YOU!), and move on.

OP said they never were on freq, so no number or contact.

File a NASA report. If you really only got within 20-40 feet you have nothing to worry about because you didn’t actually bust it as long as your altimeter was current
autonym@reddit
OP didn't say they were 20-40' away from it, they said they were 20-40' inside it.
datcrazybro@reddit
Oh, I missed that. Definitely file a nasa, I assume nothing will come of it but still a good idea.

Wdym I didn’t actually bust? is there some kind of buffer?
AgileCartoonist3281@reddit
I think he misunderstood your post and thought that you were 20-40 feet outside the D.
makgross@reddit
Considering that your transponder only knows 100s of feet, yes.

Yes, file a report if you think it's necessary. No, that's not how the FAA works. Either you entered an airspace or you didn't. It doesn't matter if your altimeter was correct or not, and if you entered it by 1' or 100'. If OP entered the airspace by 20-40', they entered the airspace. Granted, nothing is probably going to come of it, and I'm guessing ATC didn't even notice, but that's still not how that works.

File a ASRS report, and move on with your life.....

They called me last time I busted an airspace. They knew that I busted it based on ADSB info. It ended up being a non eventful call, and I just had to explain what I could do to not have the problem again.
I wouldnt worry about it if I were you. If anything, you will be a better pilot after making this mistake.
EpicRedhead13@reddit
First go file a NASA ASRS report. https://asrs.arc.nasa.gov/report/electronic.html

I stopped reading after the title. You either busted or you didn't.
