Hey guys,
I’ll be in the Phoenix area for the next 4 months. I have an EASA PPL I am getting validated and I’m looking for renting a super cub from time to time when over there. Would you know a good place? I have the tailwheel endoresement.
When looking around on google, I can’t seem to find any places that rent tailwheels, unfortunately. Thankful for any leads!
Cheers

You might look at clubs. Very few schools will rent a tail wheel because of,.........drumroll please..... insurance.

Thanks! Yeah, that’s quite a valid point… would there even be private owners renting out planes?

Extremely unlikely, and near-zero chance for a tailwheel.

Chandler Aero Services has a few PA-18s they will rent out after a checkout. They also have Great Lakes Biplanes for aerobatics.
KCHD.

Around here (not Phoenix, but expect things to be similar) there are places where you can rent a tailwheel airplane. The requirements are that you fly with their instructors first and show that you can fly to their satisfaction, which could take anywhere from 1 to 10 hours of flight time. Then you have to stay current on their airplanes -- which means you need to fly their airplanes every 90 days. If it's past 90 days since you flew one of their airplanes, you fly with their instructor -- this should be shorter than the initial check since you are now a known quantity. Many of these places also require you to be a "member" and pay them every month whether or not you fly.
Good luck!

I think there’s a decathlon school nearby. But you’ll have better luck renting a 172 or piper.

Thanks!
Indeed. Most of the rentals I found were Cessnas or Archer types.
