Silly Friday Question: Which Fictional Cities Would You Live In & Which Would You Avoid?

Here are mine:
Would Live In
- Shermer, IL (16 Candles, The Breakfast Club, Weird Science, Ferris Bueller's Day Off) - Safe, walkable, and easy access to Chicago and Lake Michigan
- Bayside, CA (Saved by the Bell) - High school should be a breeze because the students never seem to attend class
Runners Up
- Sweet Valley, CA (Sweet Valley High)
- Hill Valley, CA (Back to the Future)
Would Avoid
- Springfield, ?? (The Simpsons) It's dangerously close to a nuclear power plant, and the safety officer of that nuclear power plant is the town idiot
- Sunnydale, CA (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) - Built on a Hellmouth
- Gotham City (Batman) - The city is filthy, crime is rampant, the police are useless, and the number of residents with severe mental illness is disturbingly high
Runners Up
- Twin Peaks, WA (Twin Peaks)
- Amity Island, NY (Jaws)
- South Park, CO (South Park)
- Crystal Lake, NJ (Friday the 13th)
- Haddonfield, IL (Halloween)
- Springwood, OH (Nightmare on Elm Street)
- Woodsboro, CA (Scream)
- Castle Rock, ME (various works of Stephen King)

Both are the same city. Atlantis.
Id enjoy the heck out of it until I felt the ground shake. Then gotta go.

The Shire, in the northwestern corner of Middle Earth.

Risa in Star Trek seems nice.
I’d avoid Dagobah, Mustafar. Probably the post-apocalyptic Vegas in Blade Runner 2049 too.

Anyplace with superheroes would be a hard no. Imagine you're going to work one minute and the next Graviton is throwing your car at the Hulk. And it's not even the first time this kind of thing has happened.

"What's your excuse this time?" your boss asks, the 50th time you're late.

Or Batman and Killer Croc start throwing punches and end up destroying your entire building.

Ok...but - Star City.

Hill Valley, of course. Save the Clock Tower!

How is Derry, ME not near the top of the Avoid list??
Twin Peaks on my Would list.
Ill-Flounder5986@reddit (OP)
I thought about including Derry, but I thought Castle Rock was better known.
If we're adding Derry we should also add Salem's Lot.

Somewhere between London and the Savage Reservation in “A Brave New World” ,

Yeah, my first thought before reading anything but the title was "not Sunnydale".

I want to be a spoiled rich kid who lives in Beverly Hills 90210.

I want to hang out at the Peach Pit.

Would live in: Cabot Cove (Murder, She Wrote), The Emerald City (The Wizard of Oz), Amity Island, Twin Peaks
Would visit: Gotham City, Mos Eisley (a wretched hive of scum and villainy can be great for a bachelorette party)
Would avoid: Pleasantville, Wisteria Lane
Would burn to the ground: Stepford

Eureka, either Washington (pilot) or Oregon (series). What a crazy, tech-centric city should be, with plenty of the Pacific northwest to play around in.
Ill-Flounder5986@reddit (OP)
I'd forgotten about Eureka. I'd love to live there!

The café alone...

I'd definitely retire in Dog River (Corner Gas). Seems like a chill place, and I'd know everyone already. Start every day with breakfast at The Ruby.

I think I could live in Stars Hollow for a out a month before an entire town full of quirky people got on my nerves.

Cicely, Alaska. Home of Dr. Joel Fleishman (Rob Morrow) in Northern Exposure.

I think I’d be very happy in Mayberry, NC (The Andy Griffith Show).

Don't know that I'd want to live there, but it would be fun to visit Duckburg.

I’m moving to Night City from cyberpunk, going to get some augmentations to fix these olde eyes, knees and back

Narnia. Rivendell. The Shire.

Would live in Sherwood, Ohio - Heathers. Wouldn't have to worry about bullies.
