Need options besides MiniWheats

You guys will appreciate this. I’ve been eating MiniWheats for breakfast for weeks now. I think I’ve hit my limit. What should I transition to? Not too sweet. Just enough
turnpike37@reddit
I like plain bran flakes and then add my own raisins as much or few as I want since pre-mixed Raisin Bran coats the raisins in sugar.
My partner has recently become a devotee of Crackin' Oat Bran.
Formal_Plum_2285@reddit
I’ve eaten these since I was a kid. 78% wholegrain and no added sugar. Quaker product so I guess you have them in the states too
Poultrygeist74@reddit
I’m in the states and never seen that before
Formal_Plum_2285@reddit
Oat squares?
chrisgee@reddit
quaker makes 'oatmeal squares' in the US, they're pretty good
GoldenMonkeyRedux@reddit
I'm American but I used to eat Weetabix in Japan. Now I buy it when I can find it. I add a little honey.
jonny_mal@reddit
Have you tried “Colon Blow”?
SbMSU@reddit
What about Super Colon Blow?

Raisin Nut Bran is nectar of the gods
fastcatdog@reddit
Megawheats? 🤣🤪😁
scarlet-begonia-9@reddit
The Raisin Bran Crunch dupe at Aldi is actually good.
I also confess to eating yogurt with the bran “twig” cereal. It’s surprisingly filling.

Original Cheerios

Shreddies
OnlyPete@reddit
If you really want to "vacate the premises", as it were, a mounded spoon of wheat germ sprinkled on top of whatever cereal you're eating goes a long way. I put it on my yogurt and salads too.
KorryBoston@reddit (OP)
I actually was doing well on basic MiniWheats, but this is a great idea
sweetcherrytea@reddit
Raisin Bran - Post, not Kellogg’s
Historical_Bath_9854@reddit
Total, not Post nor Kellogg's.
Trotter-x@reddit
Rice Krispies. I buy the Walmart version, but yeah.
KorryBoston@reddit (OP)
I get Walmart’s for when I make Krispie Treats. Same thing
Mommaduckduck@reddit
When $$$ improves replace one cup of the rice crispies with one cup of cocoa crispys in the treats. Excellent!!!!

Lucky Charms and Fruity Pebbles. Alternate bowls until ill.
KorryBoston@reddit (OP)
My dad did Fruity Pebbles months leading up to his death (Kidney failure). He was dying, so we were like F-it. So I can’t do that. But I can do Lucky Charms as a treat
No_Today_4903@reddit
Can I admit that I’ve been eating frosted mini wheats for dinner every night now ohhh since probably October now? Lol nothing else sounds good to me! I can’t get myself out of the rut of this. My kids are all older and want their own different things, my husband wants to make his own fancy crap and I just find I can’t eat as much now. I also want to eat earlier than most of them get home from work, like 4pm so. I eat a big old bowl of mini wheats and I’m good until the morning! I had thanksgiving dinner on Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter and randomly we will eat dinner out but idk. Food is so expensive from out and I enjoy it. I just feel so stupid saying it hahaha!!
KorryBoston@reddit (OP)
I think we’re on the same diet
Magerimoje@reddit
Just curious if you're neurodivergent... I am, diagnosed with a touch of the 'tism in my late 30s, and I LOVE "same food" (eating the same thing over and over again). My same foods occasionally change, but it's not uncommon for me to eat the same thing daily for months.

The gravely kind, not the flakes, with yogurt and fruit.
nunyabizthewiz@reddit
With blueberries 🫐
FatBackButterBeans@reddit
I cave in for grape nuts sometimes, especially the almond and whatever. Thin line of honey on top. I know it’s fake food and I know it’s like having a disguised snickers bar, but it does the trick sometimes. Usually I’m on a scrambled eggs and sliced tomato kick tho.
therocketn00b@reddit
I know people make fun of the hippie cereals at Trader Joe's for tasting like cardboard, but I really like Heritage Flakes if I'm trying to have something relatively healthy.
Positive_Ad_1751@reddit
I've been alternating between MiniWheats, Honeynut Cheerios and Cinnamon Life. Not too sweet, just enough flavor and just enough difference between the three to keep it interesting.
Outside-Character962@reddit
Same but add Strawberry banana Cheerios to the mix

I've been seeing a lot of ads for those fucking overnight oats, so I did some research.
1/2 cup of oats 1/2 cup of apple sauce 1/2 cup milk 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
Mix it un something and leave it in the fridge overnight.
I want to try a maple and brown sugar soon.
Imaginary_Penalty_33@reddit
I’ve been doing overnight oats Monday - Friday for about 5yrs straight now.
1/2 cup old fashioned oats
1 Tbls chia seeds
Maybe 1/2 Tbls sunflower seeds
3-4 heaping tablespoons of plain greek yogurt
Cinnamon
Powdered ginger
and I mix in about 1/2 cup of whatever fruit looks good that week. Bananas, berries, apple, pears, etc.
And Enough milk to cover everything
If I want it sweeter I drizzle in a couple Tbls of maple syrup.
Varying the fruit by using what is seasonally available keeps it from getting monotonous.
TeaMugPatina@reddit
Oh yeah, I just put raisins on the list. Lol, what's for breakies on the weekend?

Frosted Mini-Wheats or "Mini-Wheats". Big difference.
Frosted ones are pretty damn sweet. If frosted, Raisin Bran is good, sweet but still whole grain.

I really like Total. You can add raisins for some extra sweetness. Since you like the shape, you might also like Chex. Trying a mix of two different kinds (corn and wheat) is also tasty.
Iron_Chic@reddit
Grape-Nuts!
Muggi@reddit
maaaaan when my Dad and I got diagnosed with Celiac, losing Grape Nuts HURT. Getting up super-early to get a jump on the day, and quietly (as possible, as we're chewing rocks) eating bowls of Grape Nuts together when I was like...8, are some really fond memories.
keb1965@reddit
Nice! When my daughter was young, she loved Grape Nuts and called them “gravel.”
cholaw@reddit
I love grape nuts sooooo much! Especially on ice cream
Mommaduckduck@reddit
I can’t eat yogurt without a scoop of grape nuts mixed in.

Mini Wheats were my fav, then they switched to bite size. I don't like them. It's been 11 fucking years, I thought for sure they would come back.

invertedsaint_666@reddit
Honey nut Cheerios or plain yogurt and granola with dark chocolate chunks

Steel-cut oatmeal is my weekday morning go-to, but dang if some Frosted Mini-Wheats don't sound amazing right now ... any other Gen Xers here have sugary cereals banned in their house as a kid and therefore go wild when they got to college? Fall of 1993 I ate Lucky Charms EVERY DAMN DAY for breakfast until at least Thanksgiving break. BTW, my parents never explained why they had one exception to this ban and it was Marshmallow Krispies. I guess the Krispies themselves had less sugar/no sweet coating, but otherwise wasn't it about the same cereal?
TeaMugPatina@reddit
I was mixing Peanutbutter Crunch and Cocoa Crispies for a minute.
Dance2GoodbyeHorses@reddit
Honey bunches of oats with almonds is my go to.
Inkblots2000@reddit
I had to give them up because gluten doesn’t like me. I would totally love to have those and some Grape Nuts.
BrotherQuartus@reddit
I miss Grape Nuts, too. They weren’t just a meal, they were an experience.
GboyFlex@reddit
May cause abdominal distention and cramping.
Seattlescape@reddit
Me too! I've been eating the original or bran versions. Why? No sugar and other additives. I do sprinkle Truvia on top and use half & half in lieu of whole milk. Sometimes I use a different sweetener, such as honey. Now that we are into fresh fruit season, I add strawberry slices and/or blueberries too.
Side note, several years ago I had a dog going through chemotherapy. His appetite was suppressed. The only thing I could get him to eat was Frosted Blueberry Mini Wheats. 😊
crlynstll@reddit
Nature’s Path Heritage Flake Cereal.
I buy it at Trader Joe’s and the freeze dried raspberries or strawberries to put on top of the cereal. This is a high fiber option which takes good to me.

Quaker Oats. It's the right thing to do.

Just remember not to load it up with a bunch of junk. Tablespoon of stevia and a dash of cinnamon is good and still healthy.
Advanced_Nose_7738@reddit
Yep. You don't want diabeetus.
-Granby-@reddit
This is the move right here. I eat the shit out of some Quaker Oats.
2 servings which is 1 cup is only 300 calories. That's a good size bowl and it fills you up. Good for the heart too.
D34N2@reddit
Shreddies are excellent. But really, at our age we need to stop eating carbs for breakfast. Hard boiled eggs FTW
KorryBoston@reddit (OP)
I don’t normally eat like this. I was laid off. Typically it’s a protein shake or a much lighter breakfast. I’m just pissed off at the world

JustBreathe104@reddit
Raisin Bran
PompousAssistant@reddit
Overnight oats. They’re great, & you can make them to your preference.
Want them sweeter? Add more honey/syrup/agave.
Throw in chia seeds.
Use almond or cashew butter instead of peanut butter.
Use flavored Greek yogurt instead of plain.
Hell, you can even toss in a few chocolate chips if you want.
nixtarx@reddit
Full size shredded wheat. Same taste/texture, you control the sugar.
CrabbyOldster78@reddit
I alternate between MiniWheats and Honey Bunches of Oats. Also the Veggie Cheerios if I can find them.
KorryBoston@reddit (OP)
Veggie Cheerios? What communist thought of that?
