Puiucs@reddit
i see that a lot of people here are still defending like idiots 8GB VRAM in anything else besides the bottom tier GPUs.
NeroClaudius199907@reddit
Reduce textures to ultra-high & geometry you get like 30fps+ on 8gb
Puiucs@reddit
not the point of the video. but nice try.
Roadside-Strelok@reddit (OP)
It's one of those settings where going from ultra to high is very noticeable, though.
LLMprophet@reddit
Then get 16GB VRAM.
Roadside-Strelok@reddit (OP)
Thankfully I already have.

...by selling a kidney
Minced-Juice@reddit
Don't use RT and/or reduce texture quality by one notch.
Puiucs@reddit
the point is that it shouldn't be needed to do that and just how stupid it is that in 2026 we still have 8GB GPUs at anything besides the bottom end cards.
FitCress7497@reddit
There are many ways to show why 8GB is bad but I'm not sure pushing extreme setting + RT on a 60 tier card is a good one
Imaginary_Being_7833@reddit
it is HuB what did you expect
Puiucs@reddit
yeah, it's HUB so they did another good video.
Seanspeed@reddit
The video they did about this goes into way more detail of why this matters and that it's not just impacting only the absolute max settings. Reducing the quality settings to make it run better on 8GB requires taking noticeable visual hits.
Morningst4r@reddit
"RT is worthless, never turn it on.. unless you have an 8GB GPU"
TheMegaDriver2@reddit
Well. The 16gb 5060ti is perfectly capable to push pretty good fps at those settings. So I think it is very fair. The card clearly has the compute power for those settings.
Reminds me of my old 3070. That card already was struggling with 8gb vram. I had like 90fps but once I push the settings slightly higher it shit the bed since the vram was insufficient.
elmaxel@reddit
what a terrible article. whoever releases benchmarks in the year 2026 and doesnr provide comparisons with diagrams need to reiterate what theyre doing
Puiucs@reddit
what do you mean? comparisons are not needed, it clearly shows the restrictions of 8GB vs 16GB. you cannot read the numbers?
BarKnight@reddit
It's the same people who run the HuB channel.
loozerr@reddit
Try Linux, apparently valve did wonders for low vram performance
Boxing-Enthusiast@reddit
Valve did not do anything
Die4Ever@reddit

loozerr@reddit
One of their devs posted a patch to change how low vram situations are handled and it helps fh6 a fair bit
Boxing-Enthusiast@reddit
Without even looking at this patch I can tell you it likely enabled either or both zram and zswap.
I need to make this very clear, Valve has nearly ZERO claim or contribution to this tech, or Linux kernel features in general

It's absolutely insane that this sub, a supposed hardware enthusiast sub, now is going against the idea that 8GB cards are bad in 2026. smh
HUB continues to be on the money with how most gamers really feel, but subs like this are more concerned with protecting the reputation of some megacorp. smh
b-maacc@reddit
A lot of the usual suspects popping up here just have an axe to grind with hardware unboxed for some reason.
Gambler_720@reddit
Why not use the 9060XT as a comparison since that is an X16 card? Aren't we supposed to remove bottlenecks when focusing on one individual area of comparison?
Yes a seperate criticism of Nvidia can be had for releasing an X8 card in this price range but that's a different thing.
Seanspeed@reddit
The 9060XT has the same problem as proven in HUB's GPU benchmarking video of FH6.
Chitrr@reddit
Good thing i went for my 780M 16GB
Slava_Tr@reddit
The lack of 8GB of VRAM can be solved by switching to Linux, +60% FPS on RX 6500 XT
KettenPuncher@reddit
Isn't that new Windows game mode whatever it's called supposed to use less memory which might help this?
Comkeen@reddit
It's a bit more complicated than that.
If you have an integrated GPU that shares memory with system, Xbox mode will help.
However, if you have a dedicated GPU with its own vram, Xbox mode will not help, since it only impacts system memory.
