All right, so, this is shitty (because Denny's), BUT.

Steak doesn't have to be good. There's a weird assumption in the US that Steak has a capital S and is served at Steakhouses and should cost hundreds of dollars and should be two inches thick and perfectly dark pink on the inside with perfect marbling and dry-aged for 40 days (21's not enough) and whatnot. Sure, that sounds pretty great, but you don't need to do all that just to eat some beef. A thin fully-cooked steak is still food and it's... fine, really. Eat it with ketchup or steak sauce, why not? A steak like this is like a piece of white bread: not worth eating on its own, but it's a reasonable part of a meal if prepared reasonably. Sure, it doesn't taste fantastic as a capital-S Steak, but sauces exist, right?

Don't expect premium steaks when you hear the word "steak". Ir's just a slice of beef. It doesn't have to be premium to be a perfectly reasonable part of a meal.
