The autistic need for familiarity
VonDukez@reddit
Einstein wasn’t autistic as far as we can tell. No issues socializing, etc.
Tom_Blunty@reddit
Autism doesn't mean you will have problem socializing, you can be autistic and yet it doesn't affect this part of your brain
VonDukez@reddit
It’s literally one of the first things that’s a sign of being on the spectrum.
Einstein wasn’t socially inept, the opposite actually
StanIsHorizontal@reddit
It’s one of but it’s not a requirement. Lots of autistics are very good with other people, just usually if you scratch under the surface a bit you find out it’s because they have a very intricate system for how they socialize. So they get along great in social situations but they just do it in an autistic way
VonDukez@reddit
Your first sentence does not make sense
StanIsHorizontal@reddit
It do tho, if you ignore the bad syntax
Yes, trouble navigating social interactions is one of the most common early signs of autism, however it is not true that all autistics struggle with social situations. Depending on severity, expression of symptoms, and the coping strategies they are taught early on, plenty of people with autism are as comfortable with social complexities as your average person and don’t appear socially inept to others
VonDukez@reddit
This doesn’t make sense if they are not experiencing issues then they likely wouldn’t get taught coping mechanisms
FearLeadsToAnger@reddit
You should shift to asking questions rather than tossing out assumptions and assertions, you definitely dont seem to have a firm grasp on the topic.
StanIsHorizontal@reddit
They can be self taught, or they can be taught by the parents at an early age as part of basic childrearing and socializing. Everyone has to be taught social behaviors somehow, the difference is that autistics will struggle with learning them the same way allistics usually do. Sometimes this means they never fully grasp social convention, sometimes it just means a different method will achieve the same result
VonDukez@reddit
Yes. People with autism will need additional teaching I don’t understand the nuance you’re trying to make here
StanIsHorizontal@reddit
Because the basis of this conversation was you saying Einstein couldn’t be autistic because we don’t know about him struggling to socialize. I doubt we know for a fact that he never did, even as a young child. We know that he was slow in his speech development, and had an eccentric personality as an adult. So he could fit perfectly in the mold of an autistic child who was able to learn how to socialize early on
VonDukez@reddit
He didn’t have confirmed developmental issues as a child. It took him till about 3 years to speak fluently which is on the slower end but isn’t unheard of in children who don’t fall into the spectrum. He was a very social person and yes was considered a bit eccentric but these aren’t signs of autism. Other signs would be repetitive behaviors, obsession with order, rigid routines that cause stress if something alters. Etc.
StanIsHorizontal@reddit
I’m not saying he definitely was autistic my only argument was that someone not showing obvious social difficulties does not mean they aren’t autistic
VonDukez@reddit
That’s fair but it is one of the first big signs.
Real-AlGore@reddit
you internalize coping mechanisms. especially if you learn so fast that you never have a chance to visibly present issues
VonDukez@reddit
Coping strategies they are taught early on implies teaching. No one is teaching if they don’t express an issue
Real-AlGore@reddit
i mean i’m not the one that said “taught,” if anything i disagree with that wording bc typically they teach themselves
VonDukez@reddit
I’m going by your wording
Real-AlGore@reddit
then reread it
VonDukez@reddit
Real-AlGore@reddit
conveniently cropped out the username 😭 that’s not me son
VonDukez@reddit
Other guy already hoped in. Dont worry.
StanIsHorizontal@reddit
You’re replying to a different person. I’m the one you first replied to
Anyway like the other person said yes, they can be self taught. Or they can be taught very early by parents who may be autistic themselves and teach their kids in the way that made sense to learn, thus it not necessarily being an “issue” just basic childrearing, no different than how all parents have to teach their kids manners and other social behaviors
VonDukez@reddit
Your wording isn’t self teaching hence my statements. Teaching kids manners and social behaviors occurs because of the need to. Teaching coping mechanisms specifically for social situations implies a need
FearLeadsToAnger@reddit
So you're saying there are many more signs of being on the spectrum.
Tom_Blunty@reddit
I am diagnosed yet I have absolutely no problem socialising with people.
People who downvote just don't know how autism work. Each case is different depending on the individual.
Some go non-verbal while some don't stop talking, we mainly all struggle with social interaction but each our own way, I struggle to understand sarcasm, certain jokes, ect.. But I have no problem socialising.
VonDukez@reddit
So you have issues socializing
-SandorClegane-@reddit
Alan Turing was pretty smart and all about the bussy. That's far more based and gay than whatever this proposed incest bullshit.
That said...
From a genetic perspective, having a kid with your first cousin isn't really so bad, BUT....
If you have two sets of cousins banging out kids and their GRANDKIDS start fucking, it's freaks and abominations all the way down.
a500poundchicken@reddit
The (Likely) smartest person ever was Newton who was most definitely gay.
the_quivering_wenis@reddit
What makes you think he was actually gay? I thought he was just asexual/religious fanatic.
a500poundchicken@reddit
He left everything to his lifelong roommate
-SandorClegane-@reddit
I've also heard the ACE label thrown around his name as well, but are we really saying the smartest person ever believed alchemy was totally legit?
a500poundchicken@reddit
I mean he invented alot of our basal knowledge of Calculus and Physics. The jump in math after his life is huge due to the discoveries he made.
-SandorClegane-@reddit
This is Leibniz erasure if I've ever heard it.
a500poundchicken@reddit
The two of them are easily the most important people in Calculus history
MoistStub@reddit
Brb fucking my cousin
ImMrBunny@reddit
I also choose this guy's cousin
MoistStub@reddit
Ok fine but I get to watch

Thats how you end up obsessing over sonic at age 35.
OutrageousFanny@reddit
I did that years ago, still struggling to understand complex integral.
Prestigious-Fig1172@reddit
No thanks. I have two cousins, one is fat and ugly, the other an annoying child.
Old-Post-3639@reddit
Coefficient of Incest is 6.25%. That means the chance if getting the same allele twice is 6.25%, assuming no repeated alleles in all grandparents.
Recipe-Less@reddit
People have blindspots also eww

Mean sample size too small
Chicken-Rude@reddit
what the fuck are you talking about? isaac newton didnt marry and neither did william james sidis.
nice shitpost though. something tells me that your parents are cousins OP. good for you champ.
UncleVolk@reddit
So smart people fuck their cousins or otherwise remain celibate, that's what I call having standards.
baudmiksen@reddit
JaSper-percabeth@reddit
>thousands of other smart men didn't
what mean?
UncleVolk@reddit
They weren't so smart then 🤷♂️
DasToyfel@reddit
Darwin wasnt even a genius.
Uniquely-Bee@reddit
Then what does that say about the billions of people that came before him that didn't figure out what now seems like the most obvious shit in the world?
400asa@reddit
Hard to know for sure. And also, aren't accomplishments more valuable than potential ?
DasToyfel@reddit
Afaik he was on the ship by accident, the medic left the ship and darwin had to jump in. He had lackluster medical training and he was more interested in bugs and animals. He also seemed to be a proper nuisance to the crew.
The_Law_of_Pizza@reddit
What does the story of how he got on the ship have to do with his work on the theory of evolution?
coltrainjones@reddit
I don't think so. I don't do shit but I'm the smartest person I know
bagged_milk123@reddit
He was fucking around but he wrote it down so it's science
Captain_StarLight1@reddit
Smartest men ever? That’s not Euler and Gauss?

Newton was smarter than both combined

You're just taking a fellow turbo virgin's side
Tortoise_Knight@reddit
The thing about incest, is that it isn't a guaranteed risk until your kids and their kids also start fucking each other, then the genetic gacha gets pretty rigged against your bloodline.
If you do fuck your cousin, make sure your child won't.
MrBingly@reddit
Maybe it's because I only have male cousins, so I don't know what it's like realistically looking at what it would be like hooking up with a cousin, but I don't get why people are so weird about it. Cousins to me are really no different than family friends' kids.
SmoothPimp85@reddit
Lack of dating apps
somany5s@reddit
There's a reason they're the smartest and their children.
thatweirdguyted@reddit
Its been a common, socially accepted custom throughout most of recorded history.
The main reasons it fell out of fashion are that changes in property laws no longer required this practice in order to keep lands within specific families, and also advances in transportation made a lit easier to meet and date people in the community who were not relations.
No_Location_8199@reddit
Genetically speaking, this isn't a big deal, unless your parents were also the product of inbreeding.

I don't care about your weak psyops Prasheed marrying your cousing is not a good ideia
