I’ll probably get downvoted again for saying it but for anyone who cares. Bob from Nomadic Aviation/Cockpit Casual is a scab and he’s proud of it. He crossed the picket line at Eastern. Do what you will with that info but I for one have not interest in watching/listening to anything that supports someone like that.
Here he is saying he has no regrets about his decisions https://x.com/captbob_nomadic/status/2048184031062397142?s=46
Here he is saying he was at eastern 89-91 https://x.com/captbob_nomadic/status/2003660038641156297?s=46
Here he is threatening someone who called him out as a scab https://x.com/captbob_nomadic/status/2048432298400645246?s=46
And to top it all off here he is saying that “It was sad seeing the workforce sober up to the reality that they had sacrificed their careers and lifestyles for a cause that only benefited the other air carriers.” When the only reason that was the case was because scabs like him made it so. https://x.com/captbob_nomadic/status/1682794416199843841?s=46
The dude is a total pos and it pisses me off every time I see people who don’t know better touting his company/podcast/whatever.

Fuck scabs.
Amen.
blizzue@reddit
I became a fan somewhere during or after the pandemic but have recently been made aware that his business partner is a fucking scab. So fuck that.
FastBlueAnt@reddit
whats a scab?
blizzue@reddit
Anyone that crosses a picket line and works while union brothers and sisters are on strike.

I just finished it. Could have done without the 9 minutes of AI music at the end but otherwise a great story from behind the scenes.
ClarksonianPause@reddit
Its not AI...the song was written and performed by a former flight attendant for Spirit. They gave her a credit in the video description.

Been following this channel for a while now and there’s a surprising amount of depth or human interest in how he/they approach the videos. Certainly more than you’d expect for a what is effectively an airplane repo vlog. A+ channel all around.
UV_TP@reddit
Steve's step-dad makes the jazz music in all of the videos. The cinematic storytelling and music is top notch on the channel
NorthernLions@reddit
Oh cool! I didn’t know that. Thanks for the info.
GreenMonster34@reddit
Oh wow that's cool. I take back my sentiment and will edit my comment appropriately! Thank you for sharing!!!

Fuck that scab.

I knew we'd get someone whining about that!
The funny thing is that Steve (the guy who does the actual videos) never crossed a picket line and I believe he helped organize the unionization effort at Allegiant. Some people still can't resist the urge to piss and moan about what Bob did 35 years ago though.
Also, as Bob has pointed out, Nomadic gave a number of Spirit pilots an opportunity to earn one more paycheck. What has ALPA done for them?
charlie_30@reddit
Imagine defending crossing the picket line, your crews must love you.
DudleyAndStephens@reddit (OP)
My crews? I don’t work in aviation, and let me tell you, to an outsider looking in the union whining is absurd.
It’s not even that I want to defend what he did, it’s just ridiculous to constantly bitch about it 35 years later. ALPA guys seem to love bragging about their “jumpseat protection list”, as if carrying around a list of names of people who are 99% dead or retired is this badass flex. To any sane person with a normal job it’s comical.
charlie_30@reddit
Oh so when you asked what has ALPA done for the pilots you really have no idea, understood. Because my carrier has given preferential interviews for everyone with a Spirit star on their resumes due to an agreement with our MEC, as have other ALPA carriers. ALPA has pushed pilot pay and conditions to the best point they've been. That famous Spirit contract was hashed out on the backs of ALPA negotiators and members.
So yeah, when union pilots see a scab willing push everyone else down so they can get their scrap we're not super into that. But enjoy your aviation content I guess...

Once a scab always a scab.
0621Hertz@reddit
Allegiant picked the wrong union.
ALPA is setting up preferential interviews with United and Delta. I think that’s something Teamsters would never do lol

The repo pilot?

That amazing song at the end….
“Yellow Bird” by House of 7.
Anyone with half of a heart better have a box of Kleenex nearby.

I used to really love Steve’s vids and he seems like a rad dude but the vids became a rinse/repeat of the same stuff. Similar routes, way too much talking about catering. He’s got a good eye and can edit really well, but there’s only so many times you can do the same stuff over and over.
DudleyAndStephens@reddit (OP)
I have noticed a bit of the same thing. When I discovered the channel I was fascinated and some of the videos were really eye opening (getting a 767 from South America to Singapore for example). The new ones have better production values but repetitive content.
The Spirit bankruptcy does make this one more interesting.
itusreya@reddit
Just saw this video and came here to share with the subreddit. Interesting to hear the backstory of the repo of these planes and the great respect extended too the pilots and crew.
ManQu69@reddit
Very interesting, sad day for the staff to find out from the repo company. Glad the pilots got work out of the loss of jobs
