5060ti at 1440p good card?

I’m running at a budget of around 2-2.5 thousand and I’m getting a 9850x3d because I need the cores because on top of 1440p gaming I’d like to do 3d renders will a 16gb 5060ti do the job?
(Shouldn’t be necessary knowledge but 32gb ddr5-6000 in the pc)

Go for 5070 minimum. Even 12gb will be enough for medium. 5060 has 16gb but fps>gbs that’s why the 5070 is higher priced.

You know the 9850X3D only has 8 cores, right? It's also only marginally faster than the 9800X3D. If you need a high core count, I would look at the 9950X or 9950X3D. If 8 cores is sufficient, I would just get the 9800X3D and throw the $50 difference at a better GPU.
Do the applications you're using for rendering prefer Nvidia GPUs? If so, considering paying a bit extra for the 5070ti or a used 4070 Ti Super, 4080 or 4080 Super. They are much more powerful, and still give you 16GB of VRAM. As plenty of others have said, a 9850X3D paired with a 5060 Ti is extremely lopsided.

9850X3D paired with a 5060ti is a very unbalanced build - maybe go for a 7800X3D and spend the extra money on a better GPU? Because whether gaming or rendering, a good GPU is going to be important.
Me personally I would pair a 7800X3D with a 5080 - or 5070ti at least.
Me personally, I imagine that for a rendering machine, V-RAM would be high priority? In which case, 7900xtx has 24gb - and doesn't cost 5090 or Blackwell money.

You can get a pre built 9800x3d/ 5080 for 2.5k

Just odd specs for that kind of graphics card.

If the 16 gb of vram is your main concern then the 5060 ti is the best you can get without going into a higher price range but if you’re cool with 12 gb of vram you can get cards stronger than that, like the 4070 ti or 5070 will easily let you to do high setting in 1440 p. I personally think a 5060 TI is underkill for a 9850x3d. I’d just go a 5070 with a 9800x3d but i understand you aren’t using this for just gaming and don’t care for the highest graphics.

The 5060ti would be fine for medium settings at 1440p, but at that budget why not just get the RTX 5070? It’s much faster and gives you more performance in 3D rendering workloads. Also, if you need the cores why not get the much cheaper 9700x or even the 9900x? It’s not like you’ll be bottlenecked by any of those CPU’s and they’d be better at productivity.

Probably the 12gb of VRAM
Urdnot_Flexx@reddit
Which won’t matter if he’s playing games on medium lol.

Look up benchmarks in the games you care about. Generally, it’s fine.

5070TI or better just spend a bit more for a big improvement. If not AMD GPU paired with CPU gives you 10-15% boost in performance-frame gen
yeet_suace@reddit
If gaming isn’t your top priority that card will do just fine. Since you already have your CPU and RAM picked, go ahead and put together a complete part list, then see what money you have leftover for a GPU. And don’t fall for the trap of 200+ dollar CPU coolers. A 360MM AIO can be had for around 50-60 dollars on Amazon and they work great. As for what GPU you get, you could potentially find an RX9070 for around the same price point if you’re patient. But look into whatever software you use and see what rendering engine it uses and if it prefers RTX or Radeon cards.

At regular 16:9 aspect ratio resolutions such as 2560x1440, yes it is a very good card. I used to have one. If I didn't upgrade to a super ultrawide monitor with a 32:9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 5120x1440, I probably would have stuck with it. You'll be very happy with it

You're getting one of the best CPUs for gaming and pairing it with a 5060ti? That budget and CPU call for at least a 5070ti level GPU.
